Cleaning in St Ann's

St Ann's sits in the NG3 postcode district, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly 1970s redevelopment housing in low brick terraces and cul-de-sacs, with garage courts and walkways between them, plus older Victorian terraces surviving along the hill's upper edges and around the allotment boundary, with the St Ann's Allotments, Robin Hood Chase, the Wells Road and Woodborough Road nearby.

Almost everything went up in one programme, so the room layouts repeat street to street. What varies is condition: some kitchens and bathrooms are original, others have been replaced twice over. Layout tells us nothing useful about the hours, so we ask about the fittings instead.

What we get asked for here

Regular fortnightly cleans in occupied family homes, and a steady run of tenancy-end work, because much of the housing here is rented rather than owned and turnover is constant. Deep cleans tend to be booked by an adult child arranging one for a parent, or ahead of a housing inspection rather than on a spring impulse.

What we find in St Ann's homes

Textured ceiling coatings are everywhere in the 1970s stock, and a coating applied before 2000 can contain asbestos fibre, so it gets damp-dusted and never scraped, sanded or scrubbed. Night storage heaters are still fitted in a fair number of houses, and the dust baked into the brick core is what makes the first cold week of October smell scorched. Kitchens have boxed-in soil and waste pipework behind a removable panel nobody has ever removed. In the flats and maisonettes the bathroom is often internal, ventilated by a ducted fan alone, and where the shutter on that duct has stuck the sealant mould returns within weeks of being cleaned. Trickle vents on replacement windows are almost all shut.

What we do most in St Ann's

Domestic Cleaning in St Ann's

Estate houses where the front door opens onto a footpath and the car sits in a court somewhere behind. We carry in once and work through, and a fortnightly rota holds because the layouts are known quantities.

End of Tenancy Cleaning in St Ann's

Social and private lets both hand back against a written standard, and the store cupboard off the walkway or the garage in the parking court appears on more of those than tenants expect. We work from the document and photograph what we hand over.

Deep Cleaning in St Ann's

The annual jobs in a 1970s house sit in odd places: the grille of a night storage heater, the panel boxing in the waste pipe, and a textured ceiling that has to be damp-dusted rather than washed.

Parking and access

Much of the estate separates cars from front doors: parking sits in courts and rear bays while the house opens onto a footpath. Tell us which side your door faces and whether a bollard blocks the route, and we plan the carry in.

We work in Sneinton, Mapperley and Nottingham City Centre as well, so a St Ann's visit usually sits on a round with those, which is how we keep slots to time.

Also available in St Ann's

Office & Commercial Cleaning in St Ann's

Shops, workshops and community rooms rather than office floors, most of them at street level on a busy through road. Hard floors want a machine rather than a mop, and the washroom decides how the premises get judged.

Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning in St Ann's

Approaches are concrete and tarmac rather than grass, so what comes in is sharp path grit that works down low in the pile. Most fitted carpet in this stock is synthetic, which takes a stronger pre-spray than wool would.

After Builders Cleaning in St Ann's

Refurbishment here usually happens with the household still in the house: a new kitchen, a rewire, a bathroom swapped over a fortnight. Dust arrives from a working room every day, so the clean is staged around the trades rather than after them.

Airbnb Changeovers in St Ann's

Short lets trading on a ten minute walk into town rather than on the address. Arrival is the weak point, since a guest with a suitcase is hunting for a door that faces a walkway, so key safe placement matters more than the listing photographs.

Window Cleaning in St Ann's

Uniform casement windows across the estate, which makes the round quick, and hinges that seize because nobody has ever cleaned the friction stay. Autumn bonfire smoke off the allotment ground leaves a film that a rinse alone will not shift.

Oven Cleaning in St Ann's

Kitchens here are narrow and at the back, and where the heating is night storage the cooker is electric and wired to a cooker point rather than plugged in. That decides how far it comes out and what we can reach behind it.

Mattress Cleaning in St Ann's

Bedrooms in this stock have no heater of their own once the house runs on storage heating downstairs, so upstairs is the coldest, slowest drying part of the house. Mattress jobs get a morning slot here for that reason alone.

Gutter Cleaning in St Ann's

The gutter on a terrace block runs unbroken over several houses, so the blockage causing your overflow is often above somebody else's bedroom. We film the whole run, and the footage is what gets a landlord to act.

Driveway & Patio Cleaning in St Ann's

Most houses here have no drive at all, so the work is a paved back yard, a shaded path and a set of steps. Shared courts and walkways need the owner established before anyone starts jetting them.

House Clearance in St Ann's

Voids and probate in roughly equal measure, and in both the van waits in the court while the wardrobe travels the walkway. That carry, not the bedroom count, is what moves the estimate here. Photograph the route as well as the rooms.

Laundry & Ironing in St Ann's

A weekly slot works here when it is built around the courts rather than the streets, because the van has to stand somewhere and the bags cross a walkway. Bin day in a court closes it off entirely.

Questions

Cleaning inSt Ann's

Ring us on 07438 843980 or send the form below.

We keep seed trays and produce from the allotment in the house. Does that change the clean?

It changes where the time goes. Potting compost is fine and dry, so it travels much further through a house than garden soil and settles on sills, skirting and the top of the radiator in whichever room the trays live in. Tell us which room that is, because it wants vacuuming before anything wet goes near it: damp compost dust smears rather than lifts.

Which parts of St Ann's do you cover?

All of NG3 and the streets around it, under Nottingham City Council. We also work in Sneinton, Mapperley and Nottingham City Centre, so if you are near a boundary it makes no difference to us either way.

What is the most common job you do in St Ann's?

Domestic Cleaning, followed by end of tenancy cleaning and deep cleaning. That reflects the housing here more than anything else: 1970s redevelopment housing in low brick terraces and cul-de-sacs.

Is there a travel charge to St Ann's?

No. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and the price is the same across the whole area we cover. Travel is our problem to schedule, not something you pay for.

What should I know about parking in St Ann's?

Much of the estate separates cars from front doors: parking sits in courts and rear bays while the house opens onto a footpath. Tell us which side your door faces and whether a bollard blocks the route, and we plan the carry in.

Is the water hard in St Ann's?

Nottingham is supplied by Severn Trent and the water across NG3 sits at the harder end of the scale, so shower screens film over in weeks rather than months and taps and kettles need descaling far more often than in a soft water area. Check your own postcode on Severn Trent's water quality checker. We allow contact time for descaler rather than scrubbing harder, which is the only thing that actually works on scale.
