Domestic Cleaning for St Ann's homes
Estate houses where the front door opens onto a footpath and the car sits in a court somewhere behind. We carry in once and work through, and a fortnightly rota holds because the layouts are known quantities.
A fortnightly clean here is shaped by the walk from the van as much as by the house. Front doors face a footpath, the parking is in a court behind, and everything we need comes in on one trip, because going back for a forgotten cloth is five minutes each way. Inside, the estate stock is consistent: a through lounge, a kitchen at the back, bedrooms and a bathroom above. What is not consistent is the fittings. One house has the original units and a shower fitted over the bath, the next has been refitted twice, and the second takes less time on an identical floor plan. So we ask about the kitchen and the bathroom when quoting, rather than the bedroom count.
St Ann's sits in NG3, under Nottingham City Council. Regular fortnightly cleans in occupied family homes, and a steady run of tenancy-end work, because much of the housing here is rented rather than owned and turnover is constant. Deep cleans tend to be booked by an adult child arranging one for a parent, or ahead of a housing inspection rather than on a spring impulse.
What we run into on St Ann's domestic cleaning jobs
Skirting in these houses is shallow, roughly two fingers deep, and it sits on chipboard flooring rather than boards. Where a carpet has been lifted and vinyl put down over it, the joint between the vinyl edge and that skirting opens up, and it fills with the fine grit that comes off the concrete paths outside. A vacuum nozzle skims straight over the gap. It wants a crevice tool run along the whole edge before the floor is mopped, because otherwise mopping only wets the grit and pushes it further under the vinyl, where it stays until someone lifts the floor.
How a St Ann's domestic cleaning job actually runs
The ground floors on this estate are concrete slab rather than suspended timber, and that changes a regular clean more than people expect. A slab holds the cold, so the bottom of a room is the coolest part of the house, and along an outside wall in a kitchen or a back bedroom you can feel damp sitting at floor level. Skirting there stays cool to the touch even when the room is warm. We take that edge with a dry pass first, because a wet mop on a cold floor sits where it lands instead of evaporating, and on a still winter day it can be an hour before you would want to walk on it. Heating is mostly night storage, so the house is at its warmest in the morning and losing it by mid afternoon. A morning slot dries out on its own. A late one needs a window open somewhere. That is why we ask which part of the day suits you and then say what it means for the floors, rather than arriving whenever the round happens to reach your street.
Who books it here
On the practical side: Much of the estate separates cars from front doors: parking sits in courts and rear bays while the house opens onto a footpath. Tell us which side your door faces and whether a bollard blocks the route, and we plan the carry in.
We run St Ann's on the same round as Sneinton, Mapperley and Nottingham City Centre.
What we check on every St Ann's job
On a first visit we run the back of a hand along the outside wall of every downstairs room at skirting height, because a cold slab shows itself there before it shows anywhere else, and we note anything that reads as wet rather than merely cool. Furniture standing against an external wall gets looked behind in the same pass. In the kitchen we lift the mat at the back door, since a door onto a paved yard brings in far more grit than a front door does. Bedroom window reveals get looked at properly rather than wiped past, and where there is black spotting in a corner we say plainly that it is condensation and where it is coming from, instead of taking a cloth to it and calling it done. Floors go last, worked backwards towards the door, with a window left on the latch in whichever room was mopped last.
What the domestic cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Kitchen: Microwave interior
- Bedrooms and living areas: Mirrors and glass
- Bathrooms: Toilet inside and out, including the seat, hinges and base
- Bedrooms and living areas: Visible clutter tidied into sensible places
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full domestic cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your St Ann's property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What domestic cleaning costs in St Ann's
Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£50 to £70
Typical per visit in St Ann's. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per visit |

| 3 bed | £60 to £80 |
| 4 bed | £80 to £100 |

Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Regular domestic, per hour | £17 to £25 |
| Ironing, per hour | £14 to £20 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Can you let yourselves in if my front door is on the walkway side?
Yes, and it is the normal arrangement here. A key safe works as well on a walkway house as anywhere else, but the position needs a moment's thought, because a walkway is public and a box at head height beside the door is obvious to everyone who passes. We would rather it went lower, or round the corner of the porch. You set the code and you can change it whenever you like.
Do you cover the older terraces above the estate as well?
Yes, and they are a different job from the 1970s housing below them. Higher ceilings, deeper skirting, original floorboards under the carpet in some of them and sash windows in a few. That changes the hours rather than the price per hour, so tell us which of the two you have when you get in touch and the quote will be right the first time instead of revised on the doorstep.
Why do my floors stay wet so long after they have been cleaned?
Two things working together. The slab underneath is cold and has no draught moving beneath it, and night storage heating has usually given up most of its warmth by the time an afternoon clean finishes. Water then sits rather than lifting. We use less of it, wring harder, and leave a window on the latch in the last room done. A morning booking largely solves it by itself.
We dry washing indoors. Does that affect what you can do?
It affects what a clean can achieve rather than what we do. A full load dried on an airer puts a lot of water into the air, and with the heating fading by evening that water lands on the coldest surfaces, which here are window reveals and the wall behind furniture on an outside wall. We can clean the marks off. They come back unless the moisture has somewhere to go, so we will point out where it is settling.
Do you cover the whole of St Ann's?
Yes, all of NG3 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does domestic cleaning cost in St Ann's?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start domestic cleaning in St Ann's?
Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. Much of the estate separates cars from front doors: parking sits in courts and rear bays while the house opens onto a footpath, and we group St Ann's with Sneinton, Mapperley and Nottingham City Centre on the rota.
