Oven Cleaning for New Basford homes

The rear addition kitchen takes a freestanding cooker of sixty centimetres or less, slotted between two units and connected on a bayonet more often than not. In the mill flats it is a built under single with a hood that recirculates instead of venting.

What the stock runs to here is a freestanding cooker sixty centimetres wide or less, standing in a gap between two base units at the far end of a rear addition kitchen, and on the older terraces it is gas, connected by a flexible hose to a bayonet point on the wall behind it. That fitting settles quite a lot. It is not ours to disconnect, so the appliance stays where it stands and the flanks either side of it are done as far as an arm reaches. The mill flats are the opposite case: a built under single electric oven in a fitted galley run, a ceramic or induction top above it, and a hood that recirculates through a charcoal cartridge because there is no duct out through a brick elevation.

New Basford sits in NG7, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly Victorian terraces and former lace-industry buildings, with pockets of newer flats around the tram line, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on New Basford oven cleaning jobs

The drawer under a freestanding cooker is the find nobody expects. It is not an oven compartment, almost everybody uses it for trays and roasting tins, and it runs on plastic side runners that go stiff once fat and grit have collected in the channel. Lift the drawer right out and the floor of the recess it slides into carries a hard brown crust it has been passing over for years, along with whatever has dried on the underside of the tins stored above it. It wants dwell time and a plastic scraper rather than effort, the runners free up once they are clean, and a drawer that slides again is the part customers actually notice.

How a New Basford oven cleaning job actually runs

Book this one cold. An oven has to be unheated before anything goes on it, so the practical ask is that it is not used the evening before and not used at all on the morning, which on a household that cooks after work means the visit date is really decided the day before. The kitchen in these terraces sits at the end of the rear addition and is the smallest room in the house, with one run of worktop and the sink taking half of it, so there is nowhere at all to stand a rack down. The removable parts go out to the vehicle to soak instead, and the route they travel is the length of the ground floor and out through the front door, which is covered before anything is opened. A built under electric oven is isolated at the cooker switch above the worktop, and on some older installations that switch is the only isolation there is, so it gets tested before we start rather than afterwards. In the mill flats the kitchen is part of the living space, which changes where the tray sits and how long the windows stay open.

Who books it here

On the practical side: Straightforward. On-street parking is usually available and the tram stop makes the whole area easy to reach without a van where a job allows it.

We run New Basford on the same round as Hyson Green, Sherwood and Bulwell.

What we check on every New Basford job

The grill is where the worst of it lives on a freestanding cooker, and it is the compartment nobody ever cleans, because the soil is on the roof of it rather than on the floor. Radiant heat off the element bakes whatever spits upward into a hard black glaze, and a cloth run across it achieves nothing whatever. It comes off with a treatment left to dwell and a plastic scraper worked from underneath, which is slow, awkward and the reason a cooker with a grill box takes longer than its width suggests. The hob is the other one. Burner caps and crowns lift off, soak, and then have to go back dry, seated properly and the right way round, or the burner will not light cleanly and you will assume something has been broken. We light every burner before leaving and look at the flame, and if one is lifting or burning yellow you get told rather than left to find out at teatime.

What the oven cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • The oven itself: Rinsed repeatedly, so nothing smokes the first time you use it
  • How the job is left: Usable straight away, with no waiting period and no smell on first heat
  • Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Charcoal filters checked and reported, since those are replaced rather than cleaned
  • The oven itself: Racks, side runners, trays and the grill pan lifted out and soaked, not wiped in place

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your New Basford property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What oven cleaning costs in New Basford

Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£45 to £80

Typical per appliance in New Basford. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per appliance
Single oven£45 to £80
Double oven, or oven and separate grill£70 to £110
Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm£80 to £130
Aga or heat storage cooker£100 to £200
Hob, gas or ceramic£10 to £30
Extractor hood£15 to £30

The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Microwave£15 to £30
Extra grill pan or set of racks£5 to £10
Heavy soiling, an oven left for years£20 to £30 on top
Several appliances in one visitUsually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Questions

Oven Cleaningin New Basford

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

Our cooker is gas and wedged between two units. Can it come out so the sides get done?

Not by us. A freestanding gas cooker sits on a flexible hose and a bayonet point, and taking it off that point is Gas Safe work rather than cleaning. What happens instead is that everything removable comes out, the flanks are cleaned as far into the gap as we can genuinely reach, and you get told how far that was rather than left to assume. If the cooker is coming out anyway for other work, book us for the day it is standing clear.

The hood in our flat blows back into the room rather than outside. Does that need anything?

It needs a cartridge change more than it needs cleaning. Air is pulled through a metal mesh first, which we degrease, and then through charcoal, which is a consumable and cannot be washed, soaked or brought back. Once it is saturated the hood moves air about the room and takes nothing out of it. We check what is fitted, report the size and type so you can order the right replacement, and put the new one in on the next visit.

How long is the kitchen out of use for?

Allow the morning for a single oven and most of the day for a range or a double. Very little of that is effort, since the job is mostly chemistry waiting to work, but the sink is in use throughout for rinsing and the floor is covered, so it is not a room anybody can cook in around us. You can use the oven the moment we have finished. There is no standing time and nothing has to burn off first.

There is no window near the kitchen in our flat. Does that matter for the products?

It changes how we work rather than what we use. Low odour is a description of the smell, not of the chemistry, and the controls that matter are ventilation, gloves and thorough rinsing. So whatever opens gets opened, air is moved across the space while the cavity dwells, and the rinsing runs until the water comes off clean. That last part is the one that decides whether anything smokes the first time you heat it up.

Do you cover the whole of New Basford?

Yes, all of NG7 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does oven cleaning cost in New Basford?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start oven cleaning in New Basford?

Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. Straightforward, and we group New Basford with Hyson Green, Sherwood and Bulwell on the rota.
