Oven Cleaning for Sherwood homes

The kitchen is the back addition: a galley about two metres wide with the cooker on one wall and the only free surface being the drainer. Built under doubles at floor level are the norm, ranges only in the extended houses.

The cooker in a Sherwood house is usually in the back addition, and the back addition is a galley: one narrow room off the rear of the hall, a run of units down a single wall, the sink under the window at the end and no second worktop to work off. That decides the job before anything is opened. A built under double sits below the worktop, which puts the lower cavity at floor level and both doors on their hinges at knee height, and there is nowhere to stand racks and trays except the drainer. Range cookers turn up where the back of the house has been opened out, and the larger houses toward Woodthorpe take a ninety centimetre one comfortably.

Sherwood sits in NG5, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis running off Mansfield Road, with larger detached houses toward Woodthorpe, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on Sherwood oven cleaning jobs

The hood over the cooker in these kitchens almost never goes anywhere. A back addition has a party wall on one side and a window at the end, so there is no easy route for a duct, and what gets fitted is a recirculating hood with a charcoal filter behind the grease filter. Grease that a ducted hood would have put outside comes back into the room instead, and it lands on the top face of the wall cupboard beside the cooker and on the control panel above the door. That film is why an oven that has genuinely been cleaned still feels tacky to the touch a week later.

How a Sherwood oven cleaning job actually runs

Book this as its own visit rather than as an hour tacked onto a clean, because in a galley back addition there is no working around each other. The room takes one person and a set of trays, and while the racks are soaking in it nobody is making a cup of tea in there. Morning slots suit it best. The parts need real dwell time, the kitchen is out of use while they have it, and a mid morning start means the appliance is back together and cooled before anybody wants to cook on it. Parking on the streets off Mansfield Road is straightforward through the day and difficult once people are home, which matters more on this job than on most because the equipment is heavy and the front path usually comes with steps up from the pavement. Tell us at the booking what the appliance actually is: a built under double, a single with a separate grill above it, or a range in an opened out kitchen. Say also whether the hob is gas or induction and whether you want the extractor doing, since both are priced as their own items rather than assumed.

Who books it here

On the practical side: On-street parking on the roads off Mansfield Road, generally fine outside the evening rush.

We run Sherwood on the same round as Mapperley, Arnold and New Basford.

What we check on every Sherwood job

The consistent find in these kitchens is at the top rather than the bottom. Wall cupboards run above the worktop beside the cooker, and the top face of a wall cupboard in a room with no ducted extraction carries a layer of grease with dust set into it that has the texture of a soft varnish and comes away in sheets rather than wiping off. It sits directly above where the pans are, it is above eye level, and nothing routine ever reaches it. The other one is the plinth. A built under oven stands in a housing with a kickboard below the door, and every spill that has run off an open door has gone under that board into the void behind it. The kickboard usually clips out. What is behind it is generally the worst square foot in the room, and it is why a kitchen still smells of old cooking once the oven itself is spotless.

What the oven cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Microwave interior, roof plate, turntable and door seal
  • How the job is left: Floor and worktop protected before anything is opened or applied
  • How the job is left: Existing damage photographed and pointed out before we start, not after
  • How the job is left: Freestanding cookers pulled out where safe, so the sides and the gap are done

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Sherwood property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What oven cleaning costs in Sherwood

Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£45 to £80

Typical per appliance in Sherwood. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per appliance
Single oven£45 to £80
Double oven, or oven and separate grill£70 to £110
Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm£80 to £130
Aga or heat storage cooker£100 to £200
Hob, gas or ceramic£10 to £30
Extractor hood£15 to £30

The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Microwave£15 to £30
Extra grill pan or set of racks£5 to £10
Heavy soiling, an oven left for years£20 to £30 on top
Several appliances in one visitUsually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Questions

Oven Cleaningin Sherwood

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

Our double oven is under the worktop. Does that change anything?

Only in how it is worked rather than in what is done. Both cavities sit below waist height, so the whole job happens kneeling on a hard floor and the lower oven is treated with its door dropped flat. The bigger practical point is space. In a galley kitchen there is nowhere to stand racks and hot trays, so we bring our own covered trays and work off those rather than off your drainer.

Can you pull the cooker out to do the sides?

Where it is freestanding and the run is wide enough, yes. In a two metre galley it often is not, because the gap between the units and the opposite wall is too tight to swing an appliance into. If we cannot get it out safely we say so, clean what is reachable and leave the sides for whenever the kitchen next comes apart. We do not shift a gas cooker off its bayonet fitting either way.

Should the oven clean happen before or after a deep clean?

Before, if you are booking both, and ideally not on the same day. A dedicated oven clean puts a fine residue and a certain amount of water onto the floor and the cupboard fronts around the appliance. All of that is protected, but none of it stays untouched, so running the deep clean afterwards means those surfaces get finished last. If it has to be one day, we take the kitchen at the end.

The glass in our door has a haze between the panes. Can that come out?

It depends entirely on the model, and we check before quoting. Where the door comes apart and the inner panes lift out, yes, and that is the main reason to book this rather than rely on the oven being wiped inside a general clean. Where the panes are bonded, or the door is riveted shut so that taking it apart would not put it back, no, and we will not force it.

Do you cover the whole of Sherwood?

Yes, all of NG5 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does oven cleaning cost in Sherwood?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start oven cleaning in Sherwood?

Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. On-street parking on the roads off Mansfield Road, generally fine outside the evening rush, and we group Sherwood with Mapperley, Arnold and New Basford on the rota.
