Oven Cleaning for Rise Park homes
Two cooker types on this stock. The original kitchens kept an eye level double beside a tall fridge housing, so the top door sits at face height and hides nothing. Kitchens refitted since have dropped to a built under single with a separate hob.
Where the cooker sits decides how the day runs, because these kitchens are a short run with the sink under the window and very little worktop free at either end. There is nowhere to stand a hot rack or a dripping tray, so everything that comes out goes straight to the tank in the van and the run itself is covered before a door is opened. The eye level doubles in the original kitchens are what people ring about, since the top oven is at face height and a grill compartment nobody has stripped is impossible to unsee. The built under singles in the refitted kitchens hide a great deal more, and the bottom edge of the door is usually where the evidence has collected.
Rise Park sits in NG5, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly late twentieth century private estate housing in brick with concrete tile roofs, detached and semi-detached in small closes, most with an integral garage and an open plan front lawn running to the pavement, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Rise Park oven cleaning jobs
The extractor over the hob is worth opening while the oven is in pieces. On a good number of these kitchens the hood sits under a wall unit with no duct through the outside wall behind it, so it recirculates: air through a metal mesh, then a charcoal cartridge, then back into the room. The mesh lifts out and degreases in solution. The charcoal is not cleanable and gets replaced, and on a hood fitted when the kitchen went in it has usually never been changed, which is why the room still smells of dinner with the fan running.
How a Rise Park oven cleaning job actually runs
An oven clean is one van, one household and half a day at the outside, so access is the simple part and timing is what wants getting right. The kitchen is out of use while it runs, because the hob and the oven are both open and there are racks and trays sitting in a heated tank, so it is not a job to book against a lunch that has to happen. Mid morning suits most people here, since somebody is usually in anyway. What we need is a socket for the tank, a tap, and a length of worktop we can cover and work off as a bench, which in a kitchen this size means the appliances that live on it being cleared beforehand. Where the cooker is freestanding and slots between two units it gets pulled forward, provided the flooring and the connection allow it, because the flanks of the units either side hold more than the cavity does. On a gas cooker that decision is ours to decline, since the bayonet fitting and the restraining chain are not ours to disturb. Dogs and small children want to be somewhere else while caustic is in an open oven.
Who books it here
On the practical side: Every house has a drive and the frontages are open, so a van parks without blocking anyone. The pinch is the side passage: a gate, the bins and about the width of one person, and it is the only way to the back.
We run Rise Park on the same round as Top Valley, Bestwood and Arnold.
What we check on every Rise Park job
The bottom edge of the door is where a built under oven gives itself away. Fat running down the inside of the glass while the appliance is hot ends up in the channel where the door meets the fascia, cools there and sets, and because that line sits below eye level on this stock it is the last thing anybody wipes and the first thing that smokes on a Sunday. Alongside it, the seal around the cavity opening is a woven strip clipped in at the corners, and the mistake made most often is soaking it, which swells the weave and leaves the door standing proud so heat escapes past it. It gets cleaned around rather than into. On the eye level doubles the equivalent spot is the top edge of the lower door, where anything spilt in the top oven has run down the front of the appliance and dried on.
What the oven cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- How the job is left: Freestanding cookers pulled out where safe, so the sides and the gap are done
- Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Charcoal filters checked and reported, since those are replaced rather than cleaned
- Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Gas hobs: burner caps, crowns, pan supports and the tray underneath, all soaked separately
- The oven itself: Door seal cleaned around rather than soaked, because a saturated seal perishes
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What oven cleaning costs in Rise Park
Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£45 to £80
Typical per appliance in Rise Park. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per appliance |
|---|---|
| Single oven | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven, or oven and separate grill | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm | £80 to £130 |
| Aga or heat storage cooker | £100 to £200 |
| Hob, gas or ceramic | £10 to £30 |
| Extractor hood | £15 to £30 |
The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Microwave | £15 to £30 |
| Extra grill pan or set of racks | £5 to £10 |
| Heavy soiling, an oven left for years | £20 to £30 on top |
| Several appliances in one visit | Usually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
The oven is built into a tall housing. Does it have to come out?
No, and it stays where it is. A built in oven is wired to a switched connection behind the unit, and pulling it forward is an electrician's job rather than a cleaner's, so the cavity, the door and the removable parts are all done in place while the trays and racks soak outside. What does get reached is the sides of the housing and the plinth below it, which is where fat running down the front of a built under model ends up.
Can the door glass come apart on an eye level double?
Sometimes. On a lot of built under singles the inner pane lifts out once the trim along the top of the door is released, and the space between the panes then cleans properly. Plenty of eye level doubles are bonded, or held by fixings that were never meant to be undone, and those get cleaned from the faces we can reach. We check the model before starting and tell you which of the two you have.
The oven has a cleaning cycle of its own. Do we still need this?
A pyrolytic cycle burns the cavity out and does that part well, so what is left is everything the cycle cannot reach: the door glass and the space between the panes, the fascia and the controls, the racks and runners, which should be taken out before the cycle runs anyway, and the seal. We also stay off pyrolytic enamel with anything caustic, because that coating is what makes the cycle work at all. So it becomes a shorter job rather than no job.
There is rust in the bottom of the cavity. Will that come out?
No, because rust is the metal itself going rather than something sitting on top of it. What we can do is take everything around it away so you can see how far it has actually travelled, and say honestly whether it is a surface bloom under an old spill or the enamel failing underneath. Chipped enamel, a cracked inner pane and a perished seal get the same answer: those are parts and a repair, and we point them out before starting.
Do you cover the whole of Rise Park?
Yes, all of NG5 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does oven cleaning cost in Rise Park?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start oven cleaning in Rise Park?
Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. Every house has a drive and the frontages are open, so a van parks without blocking anyone, and we group Rise Park with Top Valley, Bestwood and Arnold on the rota.
