Oven Cleaning for Aspley homes

Every kitchen here has been refitted since the house was built, so the appliance is a record of the decade rather than the property. A built under single with a bonded inner pane, or a later double in a tall housing.

There was no built in cooker in these houses when they were built, so the appliance you have now is a record of when the kitchen was last done rather than of the property. A refit from the eighties or nineties left a single oven built under a worktop with a separate four ring hob above it, which is the commonest thing we open in Aspley. A recent one put a double into a tall housing at eye level, and that runs longer because there are two cavities and a grill. What decides whether the door comes apart is the model rather than the age. Budget built under ovens fitted to a landlord specification often have the inner pane bonded, and where that is so it stays as it is and we tell you before starting.

Aspley sits in NG8, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly 1930s council-built semis and later infill, most with generous gardens and original layouts, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on Aspley oven cleaning jobs

The racks tell you how long an oven has been left. Soil builds on the underside of a shelf first, because that is where fat drips and then bakes on the next use, so the top face can look passable while the bar underneath carries a black rind two or three millimetres proud. Soaking takes that off. What soaking does not take off is the bare grey patch where the chrome has worn through under a heavy dish, and that is metal gone rather than dirt sitting on it. We show you which of the two you have when the racks come out of the tank, because one of them comes back and the other does not.

How an Aspley oven cleaning job actually runs

An oven clean is the first job we do in a lot of Aspley houses, because it is usually what prompts the call. That shapes how the visit runs. We work to a fixed block with the kitchen out of use, and we want the appliance cold, so switch it off the night before rather than an hour before we knock. Setting up needs three things: a socket or the cooker switch we can isolate at, a tap for filling and rinsing, and a way through to the back path for the tank. Parking is rarely the constraint here, and a drive or a space outside the door means the tank comes off the van in one lift. Ventilation matters more than people expect. These kitchens are small and the products are caustic, so the back door stands open for most of the visit, which means the dog needs to be somewhere else and the side gate wants shutting first. If the same visit is meant to cover a hob and an extractor as well, say so at booking, because each of those is a separate item with its own time rather than something absorbed into the oven hour.

Who books it here

On the practical side: Straightforward, with on-street parking and drives on many properties.

We run Aspley on the same round as Bilborough, Bulwell and Hyson Green.

What we check on every Aspley job

The second thing we look at is above the hob rather than inside the oven. Where a wall cupboard sits over a cooker in one of these kitchens, its underside carries a soft amber film that has never been touched, because nobody looks up at it and a cloth run along the door front does not reach it. It is not dry dust. It is condensed cooking fat with kitchen dust settled into it, and it comes off with a degreaser and dwell time rather than pressure. The same film sits on the ceiling in a band above the hob and on the light shade hanging over the table. On these small kitchens with the original window doing most of the ventilating, that band reaches further across the room than it would in a house with a ducted extract. We clean the cupboard underside, the handle and the section of ceiling directly over the hob as part of the appliance job rather than as an extra.

What the oven cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • The oven itself: Cavity roof, floor, sides and back, treated and left to dwell rather than scoured
  • The oven itself: Fan cover and back plate removed where the model allows, and the housing behind it degreased
  • The oven itself: Door glass separated where the panes come out, so the space between them is cleaned
  • The oven itself: Door seal cleaned around rather than soaked, because a saturated seal perishes

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What oven cleaning costs in Aspley

Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£45 to £80

Typical per appliance in Aspley. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per appliance
Single oven£45 to £80
Double oven, or oven and separate grill£70 to £110
Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm£80 to £130
Aga or heat storage cooker£100 to £200
Hob, gas or ceramic£10 to £30
Extractor hood£15 to £30

The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Microwave£15 to £30
Extra grill pan or set of racks£5 to £10
Heavy soiling, an oven left for years£20 to £30 on top
Several appliances in one visitUsually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Can the racks and trays soak outside rather than in the kitchen?

Yes, and it is why an oven booked on its own goes further here than one folded into a whole property clean. There is a hard path at the back of most of these houses and room to stand a tank on it, so racks, runners, trays and the grill pan sit in solution for the length of the visit instead of half an hour. The spent solution goes to a foul gully afterwards, never onto a lawn or into a border.

How do I know whether my door glass comes apart?

Open the door and look along its top edge. Two visible screw heads or a clip strip means the panes come out and the space between them gets cleaned. A continuous moulding with nothing to release means the inner pane is bonded and does not come out on that model. We check it with you before starting rather than discovering it halfway through, because it changes what we can honestly promise you at the end.

We have children and a dog. Is the house safe while you are working?

The products are caustic and they stay in one room. The kitchen door is shut where there is one and the back door is open, so nobody should be passing through, and the dog wants to be upstairs or out at the front rather than either side of an open door. Racks soaking in a tank on the back path need the same treatment, which is why we ask you to keep the side gate closed while we are there. Everything is rinsed until the water runs clear.

It has not been cleaned in years. Is it worth doing or should we replace it?

Ask afterwards rather than before. Baked carbon looks like permanent damage and rarely is, so an appliance you have written off usually comes back. What does not come back is anything the metal has lost: rust in the base, chipped enamel, a perished door seal or a cracked pane. We point those out before starting and photograph them, so you can see what you are dealing with. If an oven has rust through the base then cleaning it does not fix what is wrong, and we will say so.

Do you cover the whole of Aspley?

Yes, all of NG8 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does oven cleaning cost in Aspley?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start oven cleaning in Aspley?

Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. Straightforward, with on-street parking and drives on many properties, and we group Aspley with Bilborough, Bulwell and Hyson Green on the rota.
