Oven Cleaning for Top Valley homes
Kitchens on this estate are short, so the cooker is either a slot in sixty between two runs of units or a built under single from a replacement kitchen. There is no worktop free for trays, so the soak tank works on the floor.
Two cookers cover almost everything on this estate. Where the original kitchen survives, it is a freestanding sixty centimetre cooker pushed into a gap in the run of units, which comes forward easily on an electric supply and stays exactly where it is on a gas bayonet. Where a newer kitchen went in at some stage, it is a built under single oven with a separate hob above it, boxed into a housing that does not move at all. Ranges are rare, because the wall the cooker stands against was never long enough to take one. Which of the two you have decides the length of the job and whether the sides and the gap behind ever get touched.
Top Valley sits in NG5, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly 1970s estate housing put up in one programme, semis and short terraces set in culs-de-sac and pedestrian greens off a handful of distributor roads, with rear parking courts and scattered later infill, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Top Valley oven cleaning jobs
A fair number of these kitchens have never had a canopy over the cooker, only an opening window and a vent through the wall, so the vapour off a pan goes straight up and settles on the underside of the wall cupboard above. That is the surface worth looking at before anyone quotes a time for the room. It carries a hard amber film that a cloth simply slides across, heaviest along the front lip of the cupboard where the heat curls forward, and it is often the one part of the kitchen nobody has ever cleaned. Dwell time and a soft plastic scraper take it off while the racks are still soaking.
How a Top Valley oven cleaning job actually runs
An oven clean brings more into the house than a general visit does, and here all of it arrives on foot. A heated tank, solution, sheeting and hand tools take more than one trip in from wherever the vehicle can sit, so the first thing settled is a protected route from the door to the kitchen, because racks and trays travel back out along it to soak. Floor space is the second thing. These kitchens are short, the worktop is already given over to appliances, and there is rarely a clear run long enough to lay a shelf down on, let alone a door. So the tank stands on the floor on sheeting, positioned clear of the swing of the room door, and the order of work follows what can be set down where. Power is third. One socket often has to serve the tank alongside whatever is already plugged in along that wall, so we ask what else is running before anything goes on. Mid morning suits the booking best, since the appliance is out of use while the work is happening and nobody wants that at five in the afternoon.
Who books it here
On the practical side: Parking is rarely the problem; reaching the door is. Vans go on the distributor road or into a rear court, and the last stretch is on foot down a walkway with a step or a bollard in it. Say which side your number faces.
We run Top Valley on the same round as Bestwood, Rise Park and Bulwell.
What we check on every Top Valley job
Two things on a cooker of this age want protecting rather than cleaning hard. The first is the fascia. Control markings on a slot in cooker from the eighties or nineties are printed onto the panel rather than moulded into it, and decades of hands have already worn the edges off them. Caustic lifts what is left in one wipe, permanently. So the fascia gets a mild detergent and a cloth whatever state the rest of the appliance is in. The second is the seam along the bottom of the outer door, where the trim meets the glass. Everything that has ever run down the front has gone into that gap and stayed, and it reads as a brown line once the rest of the door comes up clean. With the door apart it flushes out in seconds. Where the door does not come apart it is slow work with a thin tool, and still worth the time, because that edge is at eye level whenever the oven is opened.
What the oven cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Extractor canopy inside and out, and the grease trap where there is one
- Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Ceramic and induction: burnt sugar and boil-over taken off with a blade held flat, then polished
- Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Gas hobs: burner caps, crowns, pan supports and the tray underneath, all soaked separately
- The oven itself: Rinsed repeatedly, so nothing smokes the first time you use it
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Top Valley property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What oven cleaning costs in Top Valley
Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£45 to £80
Typical per appliance in Top Valley. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per appliance |
|---|---|
| Single oven | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven, or oven and separate grill | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm | £80 to £130 |
| Aga or heat storage cooker | £100 to £200 |
| Hob, gas or ceramic | £10 to £30 |
| Extractor hood | £15 to £30 |
The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Microwave | £15 to £30 |
| Extra grill pan or set of racks | £5 to £10 |
| Heavy soiling, an oven left for years | £20 to £30 on top |
| Several appliances in one visit | Usually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Ours is a gas cooker standing in the gap between the units. Will you pull it out?
Only where there is a bayonet fitting behind it and enough give in the flexible hose to move the appliance without straining anything. We do not disconnect gas, and we do not lift a cooker off its fitting. On an electric supply it is straightforward and the sides and the floor underneath get done as a matter of course. Where it cannot be moved safely, we do the reachable parts and tell you what was left.
The inner pane on our built under oven does not seem to come out. Does that matter?
It matters for what the finish will look like, so it gets said at the start. On many models the door comes apart and every face of the glass is reachable. On others the inner panel is bonded or fixed in a way the maker never intended anyone to undo, and forcing it cracks the glass. Where that is the case we clean both outer faces properly and tell you the shadow between the panes is staying.
There is nowhere in our kitchen to put anything down. Is that going to be a problem?
No, and it is the normal situation in these houses rather than the exception. Nothing gets stood on your worktop or your hob. The tank works on the floor on protective sheeting, out of the line the door swings through, and the parts come out of the appliance in an order that keeps a walkable path across the room. What helps is clearing the floor in front of the cooker and moving anything stored in the gap beside it before we arrive.
Can the hob and the extractor be done at the same visit?
Yes, each as its own item alongside the oven, and it is the sensible way to do it while the tank is already in the room. The local difference is that plenty of these kitchens have no canopy at all, only a vent through the wall, so there are no metal filters to degrease. In that case the equivalent work is the underside and front lip of the wall cupboard above the cooker, and the vent grille itself, which is usually thick with the same film.
Do you cover the whole of Top Valley?
Yes, all of NG5 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does oven cleaning cost in Top Valley?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start oven cleaning in Top Valley?
Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. Parking is rarely the problem; reaching the door is, and we group Top Valley with Bestwood, Rise Park and Bulwell on the rota.
