Domestic Cleaning for Top Valley homes

Fortnightly work in family houses that are empty through the day. The plans repeat, so we know the kitchen before the door opens; what changes is which door you actually use and how far the walkway runs to reach it.

Most regular work here is a fortnightly visit to a house nobody is in. The estate went up in one programme, so a handful of plans repeat across hundreds of properties: the same stair position, the same cupboard under it, the same kitchen against the back wall with a door out to the garden. That makes a figure quoted from an address honest rather than a guess, and it means whoever works the round knows where the awkward corners are before arriving. What varies is what has been done since. Some kitchens are original, some were replaced under an improvement programme, and a few have been opened into the dining room, which changes the floor area and the time more than anything else on the ground floor.

Top Valley sits in NG5, under Nottingham City Council. Fortnightly domestic rounds carry most of it, generally family households where both adults work. Deep cleans arrive ahead of a relet, or when an original kitchen and bathroom finally get dealt with properly. Carpet extraction is the third, because the walk in from wherever the car stopped is long enough to bring the outside in with it.

What we run into on Top Valley domestic cleaning jobs

The used door is almost always the back one, because that is the side the car and the bins are on. So the mat that takes the dirt is a kitchen mat, and the front hall, which looks like the entrance on paper, stays clean while the kitchen floor takes everything. The dirt line runs from that door to the fridge and the kettle and then stops. That strip gets worked on its own instead of the whole floor being mopped at one even pace, and the skirting along the run between door and worktop gets a wipe every visit, since it collects splash off feet rather than off cooking.

How a Top Valley domestic cleaning job actually runs

A round here is planned around where the van can legally stand rather than around the doors themselves. Houses face footpaths and greens, cars live in courts and lay-bys behind them, so one standing usually serves several properties and the kit walks in from there. That shapes the day in small ways. A vacuum, a caddy and a mop go in on the first trip, and anything heavier means a second walk, so the machines that ride this round are the ones somebody can carry a distance without resenting them. Grouping bookings within one walk is what keeps the timings honest, which is why we ask for a morning or an afternoon rather than promising an exact hour. Two local things move a visit. Collection day fills the walkways and the courts with wheeled bins and leaves every approach narrower than usual, and it is worth knowing which day that is when the round is set up. The ground is high and open as well, so in a wet week what walks through the door arrives heavier than it would lower down in the city. That changes where the hours go rather than how many of them there are.

Who books it here

On the practical side: Parking is rarely the problem; reaching the door is. Vans go on the distributor road or into a rear court, and the last stretch is on foot down a walkway with a step or a bollard in it. Say which side your number faces.

We run Top Valley on the same round as Bestwood, Rise Park and Bulwell.

What we check on every Top Valley job

On a plan that repeats, the marks land in the same places house after house, and the ones people stop seeing sit at hand height rather than at floor level. Internal doors of this period are light and hollow, and the push goes on the face of the door beside the handle rather than on the handle itself, so a shallow grey fan builds there and another on the frame edge opposite. Light switches collect the same thing on the wall around the plate rather than on the plate. Then the staircase: on a straight flight most people run a hand along the wall going up instead of using the rail, and there is a band along that plaster at shoulder height which lifts in a single pass with a damp cloth. Those three take a couple of minutes between them, and they are most of the difference between a house that has been cleaned and a house that looks it.

What the domestic cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Bathrooms: Tiles wiped
  • Kitchen: Appliance fronts
  • Bedrooms and living areas: Accessible surfaces dusted
  • Kitchen: Floor swept and mopped

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full domestic cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What domestic cleaning costs in Top Valley

Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£50 to £70

Typical per visit in Top Valley. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per visit
1 bed flat£40 to £50
2 bed£50 to £70
3 bed£60 to £80
4 bed£80 to £100
5 bed£100 to £120

A fortnightly clean of a two bedroom home works out around £1,560 to £1,820 a year. Weekly is roughly double.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Regular domestic, per hour£17 to £25
Ironing, per hour£14 to £20

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Do you need somebody at home?

No, and most of the houses on this round are empty on a weekday. A key safe fails less often than any other arrangement we have tried, and on these plots it wants fitting on the side you genuinely use rather than beside a front door that faces a footpath. One code, and a message if it ever changes. If there is a gate onto the parking court, say whether it gets bolted from the inside.

Next door has an identical layout. Would the price be the same?

Usually yes, and that is one thing this estate makes genuinely easy. The plans repeat, so a three bedroom house on one side of a green is the same job as a three bedroom house on the other. What moves the figure is what has been altered since: a kitchen opened into the dining room, a conservatory on the back, a loft turned into a fourth bedroom. Mention those and the number holds.

There is nowhere to park outside our door. Does that cause a problem?

No, it is normal here and the round is built for it. What helps is telling us the sensible approach when you book: which road to come down, whether there is a standing on the court side, and whether the useful door is the back one. Everything needed for a regular visit is carried in one trip. The only thing that genuinely slows a visit is arriving on collection day to find the walkway full of bins with no warning.

Can we have the same day and time every visit?

The same day, yes, and that is how the round is put together, because neighbouring properties share one standing and one walk. A fixed hour is harder to promise honestly. Traffic, weather and a house earlier in the round needing longer all move the middle of the day. What we do instead is give a morning or an afternoon and let you know if that is going to slip, which is more useful than a time nobody can keep.

Do you cover the whole of Top Valley?

Yes, all of NG5 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does domestic cleaning cost in Top Valley?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start domestic cleaning in Top Valley?

Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. Parking is rarely the problem; reaching the door is, and we group Top Valley with Bestwood, Rise Park and Bulwell on the rota.
