Driveway & Patio Cleaning for Stapleford homes
Half of this work has no drive in it. Walled back yards of old flags laid on soil, draining to one corner grate that also takes the kitchen waste, and strip drives beside the semis that fall towards a neighbour.
Half of this work here has no drive in it at all. The terraces near the centre have a walled back yard instead: old concrete flags or blue paviours laid straight onto soil rather than a bound base, falling to one grate in the corner that also takes the waste pipe from the kitchen sink. Everything the wash lifts has to leave through that single grate, which is exactly why the slurry gets swept and vacuumed up rather than flushed towards it. The semis are the other job, a strip of concrete down the side to a garage, occasionally shared down the middle with next door and often with an expansion joint that has opened up. On the streets falling away from the hill, run off wants to head for somebody else's ground.
Stapleford sits in NG9, under Broxtowe Borough Council. Domestic rounds in the terraces and semis, plus small commercial premises along Derby Road. We group Stapleford visits onto shared days.
What we run into on Stapleford driveway & patio cleaning jobs
An enclosed yard shows you its own history on the walls. There is a splash line about knee height on the brickwork where forty years of rain bouncing off the flags has left a dark band, and the flags themselves carry black spot lichen, which is a chemistry problem with dwell time rather than something pressure removes. The pointing between them is usually a thin sand and cement fillet sitting on soil, and where it has gone soft a lance takes it straight out and undermines the flag. The corner grate is the other regular find, greased solid from the sink outlet above it long before we arrived.
How a Stapleford driveway & patio cleaning job actually runs
Water and the route to it decide how a yard job runs. Many of these houses have no outside tap, so we bring our own supply rather than running a line off the kitchen mixer, and the hose from the van to the back has to cross either your house or somebody else's ground, which is agreed before the day rather than negotiated on the morning. If it has to come through the house, floors get covered along the run. Before anything starts, bins, bikes and pots come off the paving and go somewhere they can stay for a few hours, and on a shared strip drive we would rather you had spoken to your neighbour first, since half of it is theirs and the wash does not stop at an invisible line. Weather is the other constraint. The clean happens in most conditions, but sealing never goes on the same day and never onto a surface that is not properly dry, so that is booked as a return visit with the forecast checked. On the streets running downhill we set the fall of the wash away from doorways and away from the boundary below you.
Who books it here
The housing here is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the town centre, interwar semis around them, and small commercial premises along Derby Road, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
We run Stapleford on the same round as Chilwell, Beeston and Bilborough.
What we check on every Stapleford job
In an enclosed yard the finish is decided by what happens to the slurry, not by the pressure. It gets swept and vacuumed off the surface, because the alternative is sending a few buckets of grit and lichen into the one gully the kitchen sink also uses, and that is a blockage you find out about at the washing up rather than at the door. The rotary head does the open middle, which is what keeps the tone even across old flags, and the lance is kept for the edges, the step and the corners a rotary cannot physically enter. Black spot gets a proprietary treatment and dwell time rather than more pressure, since pressure hard enough to lift it is pressure hard enough to open the surface of the slab. The grate and the channel across the entrance are cleared before we leave, and the run off is checked while we are still there.
What the driveway & patio cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Before the water goes on: A test patch in a low visibility corner on any stone we have not worked on before
- The clean: Lance work confined to edges, kerb lines, steps and the corners a rotary physically cannot reach
- The clean: Oil, tyre scuff and leaf tannin staining worked separately, since they are chemistry problems rather than soil
- Putting it back: Kiln-dried sand brushed into block paving joints once the surface has dried
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full driveway & patio cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What driveway & patio cleaning costs in Stapleford
Cleaning priced by the square metre at typical UK rates, with a minimum charge on small jobs. Re-sanding and sealing are quoted separately. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£100 to £200
Typical cost in Stapleford. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Cleaning, per square metre | £3 to £6 |
| Minimum charge on a small job | Usually billed as a 30 m² minimum |
| Patio, up to 20 m² | £90 to £160 |
| Single drive, 30 to 40 m² | £100 to £200 |
| Double drive, 50 to 70 m² | £150 to £280 |
| Large drive, 90 m² and over | £225 to £350 |
The minimum charge is what catches people out. A 15 m² patio is usually billed as 30 m², so at £3 to £6 per square metre it costs the same £90 to £180 as a patio twice the size. Cleaning a patio and a path in the same visit spreads that minimum across more ground.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Block paving re-sanding, per m² | £1.50 to £3 |
| Sealing, on a separate dry visit, per m² | £4 to £10 |
| Clean and seal together, single drive | £200 to £300 |
| Heavy moss, weed or oil pre-treatment, per m² | £2 to £5 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

The back door opens onto the yard at the same level. Will water get in?
Not if the job is set up properly, and that is the first thing done rather than the last. Thresholds, air bricks and any gully we are not deliberately using get covered, and the direction the water will run is worked out before a machine starts. In a small yard with one outlet the volume matters more than in an open drive, so we work in sections and lift the slurry as we go.
Our joints are mortar, not sand. Does that change anything?
It changes what happens afterwards more than what happens on the day. Block paving joints get refilled with kiln dried sand once dry. Mortar pointing cannot be refilled by us: where the wash reveals that it had already perished, that is repointing and it is a separate trade. We will show you which sections have gone rather than blasting them out and leaving you with a bigger job than you booked.
Can you kill the weeds in the joints for good?
We take them out by hand and by scraper before the water goes on, roots and all where they will come, which is what actually matters on a paved yard. What we do not do is apply professional use weedkiller, because that needs a certificate of competence we do not claim to hold. Where joints are wide or on a slope, a jointing compound instead of loose sand holds them down far longer than any spray.
The drive is shared down the middle with next door. How does that work?
Best done as one job with both households agreeing, because a clean half beside a dirty half looks worse than leaving the whole thing alone. Where only one side is paying we work to the boundary line and accept that the join will show for a season. Either way somebody needs to move both cars for the morning, and that is the arrangement worth making before we are outside with a machine running.
Do you cover the whole of Stapleford?
Yes, all of NG9 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does driveway & patio cleaning cost in Stapleford?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the square metreage, the surface, and whether you want re-sanding or sealing afterwards. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start driveway & patio cleaning in Stapleford?
Within a week or two from March onwards, and we watch the forecast rather than book a hard date in winter. Town centre parking is limited; the residential streets are fine, and we group Stapleford with Chilwell, Beeston and Bilborough on the rota.
