Deep Cleaning for Stapleford homes
Terraces and interwar semis on an annual reset. Solid walls and no cavity mean condensation on external corners in winter, which is a ventilation problem we will name rather than clean repeatedly.
A deep clean in a Stapleford terrace usually starts at the top corners of the bedrooms. Solid brick with no cavity means the junction where two external walls meet the ceiling is the coldest point in the house, and a winter of condensation shows there as a grey bloom rather than obvious mould. It wants a fungicidal wash and proper drying rather than scrubbing, and it wants the reason recording. Then there is the window reveal: a modern unit dropped into an old opening leaves a deep plaster reveal that runs cold and grows the same thing along its bottom edge every year.
Stapleford sits in NG9, under Broxtowe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly Victorian and Edwardian terraces near the town centre, interwar semis around them, and small commercial premises along Derby Road, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Stapleford deep cleaning jobs
Wardrobes and chests along external walls come away from the wall for this and go back afterwards, which is half the reason a Stapleford deep clean takes longer than the floor area implies. Behind them we usually find wallpaper lifting slightly at the skirting and a fine dust bonded into a slightly damp surface, which smears badly if you go at it wet first. It gets vacuumed with a brush head, treated, then left to dry with air moving. Where the plaster itself has blown, cleaning will not bring it back and we say so at the time.
How a Stapleford deep cleaning job actually runs
Book the annual reset for the drier half of the year if you have the choice. A deep clean in one of these houses puts a lot of water onto surfaces that then have to dry, and in a solid brick house in January that drying takes hours you have not got. It also takes a full day rather than a morning, so we start early on the grouped day and work top down, finishing with the floors. The kitchen takes the largest single share of the time, and in a terrace with a back addition that kitchen has the lowest ceiling, the coldest outside wall and units fitted around whatever was already there, which is why the sides and tops of the cupboards are where the grease has been sitting longest. A bathroom over that back addition is the other slow room. It is small, it is cold, and almost everything in it is sealant, grout or chrome that hard water has been working on since the last time anybody gave it contact time.
Who books it here
The far edge of our patch, so we group Stapleford visits onto the same days to keep the travel sensible and the price the same as anywhere else.
We run Stapleford on the same round as Chilwell, Beeston and Bilborough.
What we check on every Stapleford job
The list that separates a deep clean from a thorough tidy is mostly things that need dwell time. Shower head bagged in descaler and left while we work elsewhere. Taps, screen and tile grout given the same treatment instead of being scrubbed dry. Oven racks and side runners out, the door glass done between the panes where the design allows it, the grill pan and the shelf supports. Extractor hood filter degreased or replaced and the fan housing wiped. Fridge and freezer emptied, defrosted, and the door seals opened out and cleaned along the fold. Washing machine drawer, filter and the rubber seal turned back. Radiator fins and the wall behind them. Loft hatch surround, picture rails, door tops and light fittings. Perished sealant and grout that has gone porous get identified and reported, because neither of those cleans back to white and pretending otherwise wastes half a visit.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Everywhere else: Window interiors, sills, frames and the tracks they run in
- Bathrooms: Toilet including hinges, base and behind the pan
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Dishwasher filter and spray arms
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Hob, including underneath the burner caps
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What deep cleaning costs in Stapleford
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Studio | £110 to £180 |
| 1 bedroom | £135 to £220 |
| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |
| 4 bedrooms | £300 to £460 |
Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Will a deep clean get rid of the mould for good?
It removes what is there and leaves the surfaces sound. Whether it stays away depends on what happens after we leave: the bathroom extractor actually being used, trickle vents left open, washing dried outdoors or in a vented space, and the house heated steadily rather than in bursts. In a solid wall property those four habits do more than any annual clean.
Is it worth doing before or after we redecorate?
Before. Painting over a bloom seals live growth under the new coat and it comes through within a season. We clean and treat the affected plaster, let it dry properly, and then you decorate. Mention the plan when you book so we can allow drying time rather than finishing an hour before the decorator turns up with the roller.
Should we book this in winter or wait for the spring?
Wait, unless something is urgent. Half of a deep clean is wet work and every wet surface has to dry before the room is genuinely finished. In a house with no cavity, and windows you do not want open in January, that drying is slow and the air indoors is already carrying moisture from washing and cooking. From spring through early autumn we can open up and the house dries in hours instead of overnight.
How long does one take in a terrace with a back addition?
A full working day for most of them, and the layout is the reason rather than the floor area. The back addition kitchen and the bathroom above it are small rooms carrying a lot of fitted detail, and small fitted rooms are slower per square metre than a large open one. If a property has never had a deep clean we would rather say at the quoting stage that it needs two visits than run out of daylight halfway up the stairs.
Do you cover the whole of Stapleford?
Yes, all of NG9 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Stapleford?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Stapleford?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Town centre parking is limited; the residential streets are fine, and we group Stapleford with Chilwell, Beeston and Bilborough on the rota.
