Deep Cleaning for Kimberley homes
The annual jobs in a terrace here include the pantry shelf, the cellar head and the tops of doors taller than a modern frame. A weekly visit contains none of that, which is why the gap shows up all at once.
A deep clean in one of the older houses spends its time on things a modern build does not have. The pantry, with a stone shelf and a wall that sheds fine plaster onto it. The cellar head, where the door at the top of the steps has a gap under it and everything on the kitchen floor eventually goes through. Picture rails at a height that needs a step ladder, and door tops on frames taller than anything fitted since. On the estates the list inverts completely: no cellar, no rails, but an integrated fridge freezer whose seals have never been pulled open, an extractor recirculating through a charcoal filter nobody knew was there, and an ensuite shower tray with sealant that has gone dark at the corners.
Kimberley sits in NG16, under Broxtowe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly red brick terraces on the streets climbing away from the town centre, interwar semis along Nottingham Road, and estates from the 1970s onward filling the gaps out toward the A610, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Kimberley deep cleaning jobs
Charcoal filters are the one worth naming. An extractor over an island or against an internal wall usually has no duct to outside, so it pulls air through a carbon cartridge and blows it back into the room. Those are not washable, they are replaceable, and most people have never had the hood open. Once it is saturated the cooking smell stops going anywhere and settles on the wall units instead, which is why a kitchen can be visibly clean and still smell of last week. We take the hood apart, degrease the metal mesh, and tell you the cartridge size to order.
How a Kimberley deep cleaning job actually runs
A deep clean is a full working day in the house, and in an older property here the day has to be built around two limits. The first is hot water. A house still running a cylinder rather than a combination boiler gives you one tankful, and a bathroom, an oven and a kitchen floor can empty it before the afternoon, so we heat early and work the wet rooms in an order that does not leave the last one cold. The second is that most of these houses have one bathroom and one staircase, which fixes the sequence: the bathroom is done late, the stairs are done on the way out, and nobody walks back over either. Beyond that, the day runs better if the clutter has already gone. We move what one person can lift and we work around the rest, but a deep clean is not a decluttering service, and an hour spent shifting boxes off a landing is an hour not spent on the things you actually booked.
Who books it here
Two housing eras that want different visits. The older streets give small rooms, narrow hallways and a lot of doors, so the time goes on moving between spaces rather than on any one of them. The estates are open plan and hard floored, where the time goes on the floor and the glass.
We run Kimberley on the same round as Nuthall, Stapleford and Bilborough.
What we check on every Kimberley job
Water in this part of Nottinghamshire is hard, and a deep clean is where that stops being an abstraction. Scale does not sit on a shower screen so much as bond to it, and once glass has been left long enough the surface underneath is etched, so it comes back clear but never quite glossy again. The places it hides are the tap aerator, which unscrews and holds a plug of chalk and grit, the shower hose at the handset end, and the waterline in a toilet pan along with the ring of holes under the rim that nobody looks at. Acid does the work, but not on everything: it will etch a natural stone worktop on contact and strip the finish from some brassware, so the product changes by surface rather than by room. Chrome that still has its plating comes back with a mild descaler and a soft cloth, and anything already grey and pitted underneath will not come back at all.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Inside, on top of and underneath all cupboards
- Bathrooms: Toilet including hinges, base and behind the pan
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Oven interior, racks, side runners, door glass and grill pan
- Bathrooms: Limescale removed from taps, shower head, screen, tiles and grout
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Kimberley property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What deep cleaning costs in Kimberley
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£165 to £280
Typical one-off in Kimberley. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Studio | £110 to £180 |
| 1 bedroom | £135 to £220 |
| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |
| 4 bedrooms | £300 to £460 |
Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Why does a terrace take longer than a newer house with the same floor area?
Doorways rather than dirt. A three bedroom terrace has more separate rooms, more skirting for every square metre of floor, and a cellar head and pantry that a newer house does not have at all. Against that, the newer house has more carpet and a bigger kitchen floor to cover. Book the terrace expecting a full day, and say at the quote stage whether the cellar is in scope.
The kitchen smells even after it has been cleaned. What is that?
Most often it is the extractor. If the hood recirculates rather than ducting outside, a saturated carbon filter stops absorbing and the grease lands on the wall units and on the ceiling over the hob. Degreasing the mesh, wiping the unit doors and the ceiling above them, and replacing the cartridge fixes it together. Cleaning the surfaces on their own buys you a couple of weeks.
Is a limescale remover safe on everything in our bathroom?
No, and the surface has to be identified before anything acidic goes near it. A descaler is fine on ceramic, on toughened shower glass and on most chrome. It will etch marble, travertine and some composite worktops on contact, and it takes the lacquer off brushed brass and older gold effect taps. We test in a corner first, keep acid off the sealant lines, and where a finish is doubtful we work with a longer soak and a soft pad instead.
Do the kitchen cupboards get done inside?
Yes, where they have been emptied. Taking everything out, wiping the carcass and the shelf edges and putting it back is straightforward work; deciding what belongs in the bin is not our call, and a cupboard cleaned around a full shelf still has crumbs under the tins. Clear what you can the night before and tell us which cupboards you would rather we left shut. The tops of the wall units and the plinths are included either way.
Do you cover the whole of Kimberley?
Yes, all of NG16 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Kimberley?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Kimberley?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Kerbside parking on the terraced streets, with the town centre itself pinched at lunchtime, and we group Kimberley with Nuthall, Stapleford and Bilborough on the rota.
