Deep Cleaning for Eastwood homes
Booked most often for the cold end of the house. The back rooms sit unheated for half the year, and grease that has gone hard on a canopy and on the units beside a hob wants dwell time rather than a stiffer pad.
Temperature decides a deep clean here as much as dirt does. The back addition and the rear ground floor are the cold end of these houses and stay that way from October to March, and cold grease is a different substance from warm grease. On an extractor canopy, on the wall units either side of a hob and on the tiled return behind it, it has set to something nearer wax than oil, and scrubbing it cold moves it about rather than off. So the order of work changes: degreaser goes on early and stays on, warm water rather than cold, and we come back to that wall after the rest of the kitchen instead of fighting it first thing on a January morning. It is the difference between one pass and three.
Eastwood sits in NG16, under Broxtowe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly nineteenth century brick terraces in long rows stepped down the slope, interwar and postwar semis on the higher ground, and newer closes filling former works land toward Newthorpe and Giltbrook, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Eastwood deep cleaning jobs
Bathrooms made out of an old back bedroom have their pipework on the surface, so horizontal copper runs cross two or three walls at knee height, held on clips every metre. The top of every one of those runs carries a grey fur of dust bound together by hairspray and shower aerosol, and it is the highest dust surface in the room by a long way. A duster pushes it along the pipe and drops it behind the cistern. It wants a damp cloth drawn along the top in one pass, then the clips done separately with a brush, because the dust packs into the gap between the clip and the wall where no cloth reaches.
How an Eastwood deep cleaning job actually runs
A deep clean is a full day in a house this size, and two practical things decide how the day runs: water and space. Most of these terraces have one tap that gives hot water quickly and no outside tap at all, so buckets are filled at the kitchen sink and dirty water is carried back through the house to that same sink, or out to a yard that is down steps. That puts the kitchen at the centre of everything and means it is finished last rather than first. Space is the other constraint. There is nowhere to stage furniture in a two up two down, so we work room by room and move things once, and it helps enormously if clutter and soft furnishings are gathered into one room before we arrive. We also ask for the heating to run as normal that day. Warm rooms give things back dry, cold rooms hold every bit of moisture we have put on them, and a house left damp after a long day of cleaning smells worse the next morning than it did before we started.
Who books it here
A hilltop town that also receives visitors, which is an unusual pair for a place this size. The terraced rows give small rooms and many doorways, and the short let stock among them wants a different visit on a different clock. The two sit within a few streets of each other.
We run Eastwood on the same round as Kimberley, Nuthall and Hucknall.
What we check on every Eastwood job
Every room in these houses has a chimney breast, and most of the openings were blocked years ago with a vent left in the middle. The vent is where a deep clean earns the name. Behind the plate there is a soot dust that behaves nothing like household dust: black, slightly greasy to the touch, and it smears rather than lifts, so a dry cloth throws a grey halo across the plaster around it and a wet one turns the whole thing into a run down the wall. It wants vacuuming through the grille with a brush head first, then a damp cloth folded to a fresh face for every single pass. The other tell is the shelving in the alcoves either side, where the same fine black settles along the front edge of each shelf and shows the moment daylight crosses it.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Everywhere else: Radiators, including between the fins and behind
- Bathrooms: Grout scrubbed and mouldy sealant identified
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Inside, on top of and underneath all cupboards
- Everywhere else: Behind and underneath furniture
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What deep cleaning costs in Eastwood
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
The back rooms always take longest to get through. Why is that?
Because they are the coldest rooms in the house, and every product we use works more slowly on a cold surface. Degreaser needs longer contact time, limescale remover needs longer contact time, and a bucket of hot water goes cold in half the time it does in the front room. The back of the house is not dirtier than the front. The same soil takes longer to release, so we sequence the day around it rather than working room by room.
There is a grey fur along the pipes in the bathroom and it is back within weeks.
That is a mix of household dust and the fine mist off aerosols and showering, and it comes back quickly because those pipe runs are horizontal, slightly warm and directly in the path of everything that leaves the shower. Nothing stops it entirely in a room with surface pipework. What changes is how long it takes to look bad, and that depends on the extractor actually running long enough after a shower to clear the air rather than switching off with the light.
Do we need to be out of the house while a deep clean is done?
No, though it is easier for everybody if the rooms being worked on are clear. We go room by room rather than spreading across the whole house, so there is always somewhere to sit, and the kitchen is left until late in the day because it is where water is filled and emptied. What we do ask is that the heating runs normally and that one room is available to take clutter, because there is nowhere else to stage it in a house of this footprint.
Should the vent in the blocked up fireplace be sealed while you are cleaning?
It should not, and we would not do it. That vent is letting a closed flue breathe, and sealing it traps damp air in a chimney that still runs the height of the house. It also happens to be a genuine dust source, which is why we clean through it rather than covering it over. If soot is coming into the room in quantity rather than settling as fine dust, that is a chimney matter for a sweep rather than something a clean will fix.
Do you cover the whole of Eastwood?
Yes, all of NG16 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Eastwood?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Eastwood?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Streets off the main road are narrow and parked both sides, and there is nowhere to stop on the road itself, so we park off it and walk in, and we group Eastwood with Kimberley, Nuthall and Hucknall on the rota.
