Oven Cleaning for Sneinton homes
A lot of these houses are now flats, and a converted flat has a kitchen fitted into a room that was never one. Compact built under ovens, a worktop run about a metre long, and nowhere at all to stand a hot rack.
Where one of these houses has been split, the kitchen ends up in what was a rear reception room or a back bedroom, and the cooker is whatever fitted the gap left in a short run of units. That usually means a compact built under single oven with the grill element in the roof of the same cavity rather than a separate grill above it. It changes the work. The cavity roof takes burnt splatter from grilling as well as roasting fat, and it is the surface a wipe over reaches worst, so it gets the longest dwell of anything in the appliance. There is rarely a table to work from either, so the racks, runners and grill pan soak in a tray we bring in rather than on the only length of worktop the flat has.
Sneinton sits in NG2, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly dense Victorian terraces, a good number now flats, with the Sneinton Market studios and newer builds at the city end, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Sneinton oven cleaning jobs
The drawer under a built under oven is where the evidence is. Heat and grease travel down through the gap between the appliance and the carcass, and the drawer runners collect a soft brown film that comes off on your hands before you have noticed it is there. The plinth board in front of the void below is usually clipped rather than screwed, and behind it is a strip of floor that has not been swept since the kitchen went in. We take the drawer out and do the runners and the carcass sides while the cavity is dwelling, then put the plinth back the way it came off.
How a Sneinton oven cleaning job actually runs
Booking around this stock is straightforward once you know what is in it. Owner occupied terraces mostly have the oven done once a year and the trigger is Christmas, so December fills genuinely early and wants three weeks of notice rather than three days. Landlord bookings arrive in a rush at the turn of a tenancy and are almost always a same week request, which is workable on a standard single oven and much less so where a range has sat in a converted kitchen for four years. Access is on foot from the street with the parts and the solution carried in on one trip, and we work at your sink rather than off the van, so the water has to be on. In a shared conversion somebody has to answer the street door, which is the thing that most often loses half an hour. If the appliance is being done because a tenancy is ending, put it two days before the check out appointment rather than the morning of it, so that if the hob or a filter also needs attention there is still room in the diary to come back.
Who books it here
On the practical side: Tight on-street parking and narrow entries between terraces. Sneinton Market days change the traffic completely.
We run Sneinton on the same round as Nottingham City Centre, Carlton and West Bridgford.
What we check on every Sneinton job
The bottom corners of the door tell you how an appliance has been used. On an oven that has been through a few tenancies the seal is flattened along its lower edge because a door closed with a knee rather than a hand lands in the same place every time. Once a seal has taken a set, heat and fat vent out at that corner instead of staying in the cavity, and you get a brown fan of staining across the fascia below the door and down the front of the drawer under it. Cleaning takes the staining off. It does not put the seal back, and a flattened or perished seal is a part rather than a cleaning problem, so we say which we are looking at before starting. The hinges get checked at the same time, since a door sitting low on one side has usually had a claw slip out of its slot rather than a hinge fail.
What the oven cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- How the job is left: Freestanding cookers pulled out where safe, so the sides and the gap are done
- The oven itself: Door glass separated where the panes come out, so the space between them is cleaned
- Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Ceramic and induction: burnt sugar and boil-over taken off with a blade held flat, then polished
- How the job is left: Existing damage photographed and pointed out before we start, not after
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Sneinton property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What oven cleaning costs in Sneinton
Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£45 to £80
Typical per appliance in Sneinton. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per appliance |
|---|---|
| Single oven | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven, or oven and separate grill | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm | £80 to £130 |
| Aga or heat storage cooker | £100 to £200 |
| Hob, gas or ceramic | £10 to £30 |
| Extractor hood | £15 to £30 |
The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Microwave | £15 to £30 |
| Extra grill pan or set of racks | £5 to £10 |
| Heavy soiling, an oven left for years | £20 to £30 on top |
| Several appliances in one visit | Usually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
The oven came with the flat and looks like it has never been apart. Is it worth booking?
Usually, and the door decides it. Budget landlord fit ovens mostly have an inner pane held by a retaining strip that comes out in a couple of minutes, and that is where the brown runs you can see through the glass actually sit. Some are bonded and cannot be separated at all. We establish which yours is first, tell you before we start rather than after, and photograph chipped enamel or a crazed pane before any product goes near it.
We are on the first floor of a converted house. Does that make it harder?
It makes it slower rather than harder. Everything comes up in one trip, the removable parts soak upstairs instead of at the van, and we fill and empty at your own sink, so the flat needs its water on. The stair covering gets a sheet over it, because hot solution is being carried up and down it. Say at booking that you are above ground floor and the slot is set long enough to include the carry.
The kitchen has about a metre of worktop and it is all in use. Where does everything go?
In our own tray, on the floor, on a sheet. We come to a job like this expecting the worktop to be unavailable, so the racks, runners and grill pan soak somewhere away from where you need to stand, usually just inside the doorway of the next room with the door propped open. All we need from the kitchen is the tap and somewhere to put a bin bag. If the tray genuinely has nowhere to go, say so, because that sometimes means working in stages.
Can the hob and the microwave be done at the same visit?
Yes, and it is far quicker in one visit than in two, because most of the time in an oven clean is parts sitting in solution rather than anybody scrubbing. While the cavity is dwelling, the burner caps and pan supports or the microwave turntable are already in the tray alongside the racks. Say which appliances at booking rather than on the day, since each one is its own item and the slot has to be long enough to cover the carry as well as the work.
Do you cover the whole of Sneinton?
Yes, all of NG2 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does oven cleaning cost in Sneinton?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start oven cleaning in Sneinton?
Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. Tight on-street parking and narrow entries between terraces, and we group Sneinton with Nottingham City Centre, Carlton and West Bridgford on the rota.
