Driveway & Patio Cleaning for Forest Fields homes
The hard surface at the front is the job here, not a drive. A walled forecourt paved over for bins, a tiled path and step where it survives, and on some houses a single dropped kerb space one car wide.
Ask for a driveway clean on this grid and what you actually have is a forecourt. The front gardens on these terraces are small, walled and mostly paved, and on a house let room by room the paving is doing a job it was never laid for, standing four, five or six bins where the original owner had a hedge. That is where the staining is. Bin bases leave rings, a leaking bag leaves a dark patch that soaks into concrete and stays there, and the corner nearest the gate takes six people wheeling bins across it every week. Other frontages have the opposite problem. Where the original tessellated path and doorstep survive they want far less pressure than the modern slab beside them, and that is worth establishing before anybody switches a machine on.
Forest Fields sits in NG7, under Nottingham City Council. Single room check-outs run all year rather than bunching into one summer fortnight, because tenancies here start on whatever date a room fell empty. Landlords book whole house resets between the bigger changeovers, and the households who stay put want a fortnightly visit that keeps the shared kitchen from becoming an argument.
What we run into on Forest Fields driveway & patio cleaning jobs
Old tile is the thing to be careful with at the front of these houses. A tessellated path and a tiled step are thin, bedded on lime and often loose by now, and a lance held close will lift a tile out of the pattern in a second and take the arris off the one next to it. It goes at low pressure through a rotary head wound well down, with chemistry and dwell time doing the work on the black lichen rather than force. We test a corner behind the gate first. Where a tile is already loose we point it out and leave it, because putting it back is a bedding job rather than a cleaning one.
How a Forest Fields driveway & patio cleaning job actually runs
Water is the first thing to settle here and it is not obvious. Almost none of these frontages has an outside tap, so the machine feeds from the kitchen at the back of the house and the hose runs the length of the hall to a front door that opens straight onto the pavement. That works when somebody is in and the hall is clear. It does not work at all in a shared house where the hall is the route to six rooms and the front door cannot stand open for two hours, so we agree it beforehand: whose tap, which door, and for how long. Parking is the second thing. The van has to be within hose reach of the frontage, which on a street nose to tail from mid morning means an early start, and on a house with a dropped kerb it means using that space once the car has moved. The yard and the shared entry at the back are a separate conversation, because the entry is used by every house on the block and belongs to none of them, so whoever is paying needs to have squared it with the neighbours first.
Who books it here
The housing here is mostly dense Victorian and Edwardian terraces on a tight grid off Berridge Road and Bentinck Road, a large share of them now shared houses or converted into flats, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
We run Forest Fields on the same round as Hyson Green, New Basford and Radford.
What we check on every Forest Fields job
What comes off a frontage on these streets is not garden dirt. Right against the road the black film on the paving is road grime with tyre rubber and brake dust in it, so it is oily rather than dusty and wants a degreaser and contact time instead of more pressure. Behind the wall, where the bins stand, the staining is organic, has gone into the surface rather than sitting on it, and will lighten rather than clear. Between the two, the joints are where the weeds are. We pull and scrape established growth out by hand before any water goes on, because a jet cuts the top off and leaves the root in place. On block paving the kiln dried sand goes back in once the surface has dried, worked down in stages rather than scattered once, and we say plainly that washing takes the growth off without killing what is left in the joint.
What the driveway & patio cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- The clean: Lance work confined to edges, kerb lines, steps and the corners a rotary physically cannot reach
- Before the water goes on: Imprinted concrete flagged as a sealer job rather than a jetting job, because what has failed there is the sealer coat, not the concrete under it
- Putting it back: Kiln-dried sand brushed into block paving joints once the surface has dried
- The clean: Rotary surface cleaner across the open area, which is what keeps every pass even
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full driveway & patio cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Forest Fields property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What driveway & patio cleaning costs in Forest Fields
Cleaning priced by the square metre at typical UK rates, with a minimum charge on small jobs. Re-sanding and sealing are quoted separately. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£100 to £200
Typical cost in Forest Fields. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Cleaning, per square metre | £3 to £6 |
| Minimum charge on a small job | Usually billed as a 30 m² minimum |
| Patio, up to 20 m² | £90 to £160 |
| Single drive, 30 to 40 m² | £100 to £200 |
| Double drive, 50 to 70 m² | £150 to £280 |
| Large drive, 90 m² and over | £225 to £350 |
The minimum charge is what catches people out. A 15 m² patio is usually billed as 30 m², so at £3 to £6 per square metre it costs the same £90 to £180 as a patio twice the size. Cleaning a patio and a path in the same visit spreads that minimum across more ground.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Block paving re-sanding, per m² | £1.50 to £3 |
| Sealing, on a separate dry visit, per m² | £4 to £10 |
| Clean and seal together, single drive | £200 to £300 |
| Heavy moss, weed or oil pre-treatment, per m² | £2 to £5 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

There is nowhere for the water to go at the front. Where does it end up?
In the street gully, and that gets planned rather than assumed. The forecourt drains across the pavement on most of these houses, so we sweep and vacuum the slurry up instead of flushing it along, keep the run off out of the neighbour's frontage and away from the airbricks at the base of the wall. Where a gully is already blocked with what has come off your paving, we clear it before we leave rather than after somebody complains.
Do the bins have to be moved?
Yes, and on a house with six of them that is worth arranging rather than discovering on the day. They need to be off the paving and somewhere they will not be tipped over, which usually means the hall, the entry or the pavement for a couple of hours. The other thing to agree is the day itself. There is little point cleaning under bins the morning before a collection, so the day after suits everybody.
Can you do the shared entry behind the houses?
Only with the other households squared away first, because an entry belongs to the block rather than to whoever booked us. In practice one neighbour organises it and everybody contributes, which works well: the whole run gets done in one visit and the gully at the end is cleared at the same time. What we will not do is jet a passage other people use without warning them, or leave it wet and slippery when it is somebody's only route to their back door.
The frontage is imprinted concrete. Can it be brought back?
Not by jetting it, and anyone telling you otherwise is about to make it worse. What has failed on imprinted concrete is the sealer coat on top rather than the concrete underneath, so pressure strips off what is left of the sealer in patches and exposes the aggregate. It is a strip and reseal job rather than a wash, and it is not something we take on. We say that at the quote rather than after a machine has already been over it.
Do you cover the whole of Forest Fields?
Yes, all of NG7 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does driveway & patio cleaning cost in Forest Fields?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the square metreage, the surface, and whether you want re-sanding or sealing afterwards. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start driveway & patio cleaning in Forest Fields?
Within a week or two from March onwards, and we watch the forecast rather than book a hard date in winter. Parking is on-street with cars nose to tail both sides, and the shared back entries are often the easier way in with equipment, and we group Forest Fields with Hyson Green, New Basford and Radford on the rota.
