Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning for Forest Fields homes

One staircase carrying six people and a front door onto the pavement. Hall, stairs and landing wear here far faster than the rooms, and lifting grit from the base of the pile between tenancies is what defers a replacement.

One staircase, six people, and a front door two feet from the kerb. That combination is why carpet here wears out in the middle of its life rather than at the end of it. The hall, stairs and landing take every trip anybody makes, and what comes in on shoes off Gregory Boulevard is road grit, which is angular and cuts the fibre rather than just dirtying it. Landlords replace those carpets far sooner than they need to. Extraction between tenancies pulls the bonded soil out from the base of the pile, which is the part a vacuum never reaches and the part that makes a carpet look flat and grey while it still has years of wear in it.

Forest Fields sits in NG7, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly dense Victorian and Edwardian terraces on a tight grid off Berridge Road and Bentinck Road, a large share of them now shared houses or converted into flats, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on Forest Fields carpet & upholstery cleaning jobs

The living room sofa in a let house is the piece nobody owns and nobody defends. Arms and the front edge of the cushions carry hand soil and food, the back cushions hold hair, and the frame underneath has whatever has been dropped down the sides for several tenancies. We check the label before anything wet goes on it, because a lot of budget upholstery in these houses is a cover that says clean with a solvent only, and water on it leaves rings that are worse than what was there. Where the covers do come off, they go back on damp so they dry to shape rather than shrinking away from the zip.

How a Forest Fields carpet & upholstery cleaning job actually runs

Getting the equipment to the carpet is half the job on these streets. There is rarely anywhere to park against the house, so the practical choice is a portable machine carried in rather than a van mounted one running long hoses across a public pavement, which is a trip hazard and gets in the way of everybody walking to the tram. The machine fills from the kitchen tap and empties into the toilet or an outside gully, so we need both working and we need to know where the stopcock is before anything gets switched on. Power is the other constraint. A heated extraction machine and an air mover on the same old ring main in a terrace will trip it, so we spread the load and ask which sockets are on which circuit if anybody knows. Furniture gets moved by two people or worked around, with foam blocks under anything with a wooden foot so damp pile does not stain it. We book mornings wherever possible so the house has the daylight hours to dry.

Who books it here

Single room check-outs run all year rather than bunching into one summer fortnight, because tenancies here start on whatever date a room fell empty. Landlords book whole house resets between the bigger changeovers, and the households who stay put want a fortnightly visit that keeps the shared kitchen from becoming an argument.

We run Forest Fields on the same round as Hyson Green, New Basford and Radford.

What we check on every Forest Fields job

Nothing wet goes down until we have identified the fibre and tested it. That means a burn or bleach test on an offcut where one exists, a colourfastness test with a white cloth in a hidden corner such as inside a wardrobe or under a sofa, and a check of the underlay for existing damp, because a carpet laid over a cold solid floor in a bay can be wet from beneath. We walk the room with whoever booked it and record existing marks before starting, including bleach spots, burns and the pale patches under furniture that will not change. Traffic lanes and the tread nosings on the stairs get pre-sprayed with dwell time, then extracted in overlapping passes in both directions. Afterwards we groom the pile so it dries in one direction rather than in patches, put blocks under the feet we moved, and set an air mover where there is a spare socket.

What the carpet & upholstery cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Upholstery: Low moisture, because the foam underneath holds water for days
  • Carpets: Hot water extraction at pressure
  • Also covered: Rugs, on site or collected
  • Carpets: Pile groomed, protective tabs under furniture legs

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full carpet & upholstery cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Forest Fields property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What carpet & upholstery cleaning costs in Forest Fields

Hot water extraction, priced by room or by property. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£35 to £60

Typical one-off in Forest Fields. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical one-off
Minimum call-out£60 to £90
Single room£35 to £60
Hallway, stairs and landing£45 to £85
2 bed flat, throughout£75 to £175
3 bed house, throughout£140 to £260
4 bed house, throughout£200 to £350

Stairs are priced separately from rooms because they are slow and cannot be done with a standard wand.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Upholstery, 3 seat sofa£45 to £90
Mattress clean£30 to £60
Pet urine treatment, per spot£15 to £40
Rug, per square metre£8 to £20

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Carpet & Upholstery Cleaningin Forest Fields

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

How long will a stair carpet in a shared house take to dry?

Longer than in a house with a window on the landing, which is the constraint here. Reckon on the middle of the day rather than an hour, with doors open and air moving. The stairs are the only route to every bedroom, so we work from the top down, keep moisture low on the treads and leave an air mover running where there is a socket. A morning booking gives the house the rest of the day to dry.

We rent the rooms. Can tenants book the communal carpet themselves?

Yes, and it happens more than you would think, usually once the living room has become embarrassing. The thing to check first is whether the carpet belongs to the landlord and whether anything in the tenancy says an outside contractor cannot be brought in. Extraction does not harm a carpet that is fit to be cleaned, and we record the condition before we start so nobody is later accused of causing what was already there.

There is nowhere to park outside. Can you still do it?

Yes. We carry portable equipment in on foot from wherever there is a legal space, which is why the booking asks about the street and the nearest place a van can stop. What we avoid is trailing hoses across a busy pavement on Gregory Boulevard or through a shared entry that other households use. Tell us if there is a back entry or a loading gap outside, because it saves time and time is the part of the job you are paying for.

What will not come out?

Bleach and household cleaner splashes, which have removed the dye rather than sat on it. Burns and melted pile. Old pet urine that has reached the underlay, which needs treating at that level or replacing. Some dyes from spilled drinks and hair products. Wear itself, meaning the flattened grey path on a stair tread where the pile has gone, is not soil and will not be improved by extraction. We tell you which of these we can see before we start, not after.

Do you cover the whole of Forest Fields?

Yes, all of NG7 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does carpet & upholstery cleaning cost in Forest Fields?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the room count, whether stairs are included, the fibre type, and whether there is pet urine to treat. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start carpet & upholstery cleaning in Forest Fields?

Within a week usually, and we would rather do it alongside a deep clean than as a separate visit. Parking is on-street with cars nose to tail both sides, and the shared back entries are often the easier way in with equipment, and we group Forest Fields with Hyson Green, New Basford and Radford on the rota.
