Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning for Lenton homes
Carpets in a shared house take three years of traffic in one. Grit ground into the pile abrades the fibre permanently, so extraction between tenancies is what stops a landlord recarpeting every four years instead of every seven.
One stretch of carpet drives most of the decisions here: the run from the front door, along the hall, past the foot of the stairs and into the kitchen. In a house of six that route takes the footfall of six households, and it is what a landlord looks at when working out whether this is a clean or a recarpet. Nearly all of it is contract grade polypropylene rather than wool, which is good news chemically, because it tolerates a strong pre-spray and hot extraction that would cost a wool carpet its colour. The limit is not the fibre, it is wear. Once the tips have abraded on that run, extraction leaves you with a clean carpet that still looks tired, and saying so before the booking is more useful than saying it afterwards.
Lenton sits in NG7, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly almost entirely Victorian and Edwardian terraces converted to shared houses, plus purpose-built student blocks along Derby Road, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Lenton carpet & upholstery cleaning jobs
Three storey terraces make the stairs the awkward part of the job. A lot of these houses have a loft room, so there are two flights, the upper one steep and narrow with a turn in it, and neither can be done with a standard wand. It is a hand tool, one tread and one riser at a time, with hose runs long enough that the machine sits in the hall rather than beside the van. That is why stairs carry their own price. The sofa in the shared lounge comes after that, and it usually cleans up further than anyone expects once the cushions are out and the sides have been vacuumed.
How a Lenton carpet & upholstery cleaning job actually runs
The machine sits in the hall and the hoses run from there, which in a mid terrace decides everything else. There is no side access, so hoses come through the front door and the door stays wedged open for the length of the job. Water is drawn from the kitchen tap and waste goes to the gully at the back, which means one hose run the length of the house. On old wiring the vacuum and the heater do not share a circuit, and finding two that are genuinely separate in a house with one consumer unit under the stairs is worth the five minutes it takes. Work runs from the top floor down so nobody crosses wet pile, with the hall taken last and the front door the final thing done. Drying is the real constraint rather than the cleaning. A terrace facing another terrace across a narrow street gets very little through draught, so windows go open at both ends of the house and an air mover points down the hall.
Who books it here
Almost entirely rental. Landlords and letting agents booking turnarounds, and outgoing students booking end of tenancy cleans against a check-in inventory they may never have read.
We run Lenton on the same round as Radford, The Park Estate and Beeston.
What we check on every Lenton job
Fibre first, and in these houses it is usually a contract polypropylene, which we confirm rather than assume, with a colourfast test in the corner of a wardrobe. Then the things that decide whether extraction is the right answer at all: backing delamination on an old carpet, which shows as a rippled patch that will not lie flat, a rubber backed mat that has bled a hard outline into the pile, and the run from the door, where we check whether the tips have abraded or whether it is soil sitting on sound fibre. Threshold bars and gripper edges get looked at before the wand goes near them. On the stairs it is the nose of each tread, the riser and the base of the spindles. On the sofa, the care code on the label under the cushion, then the sides, the back, the arms and the seat deck with the cushions out. Anything we cannot improve is photographed and named before we start.
What the carpet & upholstery cleaning covers

What carpet & upholstery cleaning costs in Lenton
Hot water extraction, priced by room or by property. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Minimum call-out | £60 to £90 |
| Single room | £35 to £60 |
| Hallway, stairs and landing | £45 to £85 |
| 2 bed flat, throughout | £75 to £175 |
| 3 bed house, throughout | £140 to £260 |
| 4 bed house, throughout | £200 to £350 |
Stairs are priced separately from rooms because they are slow and cannot be done with a standard wand.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Upholstery, 3 seat sofa | £45 to £90 |
| Mattress clean | £30 to £60 |
| Pet urine treatment, per spot | £15 to £40 |
| Rug, per square metre | £8 to £20 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Should we clean the carpet or replace it between tenancies?
Clean first and decide afterwards. Extraction removes the bonded soil that makes a carpet look grey and dead, and a surprising number of carpets written off at a glance come back perfectly acceptable. What it cannot do is restore fibre that has physically worn through on the hall run, and we will tell you which of those you are looking at before starting.
We only have forty eight hours between tenants. Is that enough?
Usually yes, provided the extraction happens at the end of day one rather than day two. Given ventilation, the pile is walkable within a few hours and fully dry well inside the void. What breaks that timetable is over wetting, and a landlord putting beds and wardrobes back onto pile that is still damp, which marks it and can bleed wood stain into the fibre.
There is no back access. Does that change anything?
Only the setup. Hoses come through the front door and along the hall, so we need that route kept clear and a tolerance for a wedged open door while the job runs. Waste water still reaches the drain at the back through one long run. What it does change is the order of work: the hall carpet is cleaned last, once the equipment has finished being dragged across it.
Can you do the mattresses at the same time?
Yes, and in a room let house it is worth doing while the machine is already on site, since a separate visit carries its own minimum charge. Mattresses are vacuumed with a filtered machine and spot treated at low moisture rather than saturated, because the foam holds water for days and a damp mattress in a small room with one window will not dry. Where there is no protector fitted, we say so.
Do you cover the whole of Lenton?
Yes, all of NG7 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does carpet & upholstery cleaning cost in Lenton?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the room count, whether stairs are included, the fibre type, and whether there is pet urine to treat. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start carpet & upholstery cleaning in Lenton?
Within a week usually, and we would rather do it alongside a deep clean than as a separate visit. Permit zones across much of Lenton and very little visitor parking, and we group Lenton with Radford, The Park Estate and Beeston on the rota.
