Domestic Cleaning for Forest Fields homes

Regular work here splits between whole houses on a fortnightly rota and shared houses where a landlord pays for the communal parts only. The second needs the scope agreed in writing before the first visit, because six tenants will each assume something different.

Two kinds of regular work here and they need different agreements. The first is the households who own or rent a whole terrace on Berridge Road or the streets around it, on a fortnightly visit with nobody home. The second is a shared house where a landlord pays for the communal parts only, which is the arrangement that goes wrong if it is not written down. Six people share one kitchen, one bathroom and a staircase, and every one of them assumes the mess in it belongs to somebody else. We take the kitchen, the bathroom, the hall, the stairs and the landing, we leave locked bedrooms alone, and we put that in the schedule so nobody is waiting for a room to be done that was never in the scope.

Forest Fields sits in NG7, under Nottingham City Council. Single room check-outs run all year rather than bunching into one summer fortnight, because tenancies here start on whatever date a room fell empty. Landlords book whole house resets between the bigger changeovers, and the households who stay put want a fortnightly visit that keeps the shared kitchen from becoming an argument.

What we run into on Forest Fields domestic cleaning jobs

The back yard is where a shared house shows its condition. Six households produce more than the bins the house was given, so the lids sit open, gulls and foxes get into the bags and the flags underneath end up sticky. We will sweep and wash that down when it is in the schedule, because the smell comes back in through the kitchen door every time it opens, and a kitchen cleaned to a good standard next to a fermenting yard still smells wrong. It is also worth asking the landlord for another bin rather than cleaning up the consequences of not having one every fortnight.

How a Forest Fields domestic cleaning job actually runs

A regular visit on these streets begins with parking. The terraces open straight onto the pavement, there are no drives, and the residents' bays fill up by the middle of the morning, so we build the round to allow for walking equipment in from wherever we find a space rather than circling Gregory Boulevard at school run time. Access is the next thing to settle. Most of the households we clean here are out at work, so we hold a key or use a key safe, and in a shared house we agree which key opens the communal doors and which rooms are not ours to open. Then the visit runs in a set order every time: kitchen first, because degreaser and limescale remover both need contact time to do anything; bathroom second while that sits; then hall, stairs and landing worked from the top down so nobody walks back across a floor that has just been done. We leave a note of what was covered and anything we could not get to. Goose Fair changes the streets around the Forest for a fortnight, so those visits move earlier in the day and we tell you before, not after.

Who books it here

On the practical side: Parking is on-street with cars nose to tail both sides, and the shared back entries are often the easier way in with equipment. Goose Fair week closes the Forest and fills the streets around it, so we shift those bookings rather than arriving late.

We run Forest Fields on the same round as Hyson Green, New Basford and Radford.

What we check on every Forest Fields job

On a visit here we go after the parts of a busy kitchen that go wrong fastest between calls: the hob rings and the splashback behind them, the inside of the microwave door, the handles of a fridge that several people open, and the bin lid, which everybody touches and nobody wipes. In the bathroom we check the shower waste for hair, the sealant line along the bath where a house of this age has moved, and the floor where vinyl meets the base of the pan. On the stairs we do the handrail, the light switches and the door frames at hand height, because that is where a full house leaves marks that no amount of vacuuming will fix. We check the extractor is actually pulling air, we tell you in writing about a dripping tap or a loose spindle in the banister, and if the vacuum in the cupboard has a clogged filter we say so rather than quietly working around it.

What the domestic cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Bedrooms and living areas: Visible clutter tidied into sensible places
  • Bathrooms: Bath and shower, including the screen
  • Kitchen: Worktops wiped and disinfected
  • Bathrooms: Mirrors polished

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full domestic cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Forest Fields property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What domestic cleaning costs in Forest Fields

Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

PropertyTypical per visit

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Regular domestic, per hour£17 to £25
Ironing, per hour£14 to £20

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Domestic Cleaningin Forest Fields

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

The landlord pays for the communal areas. What happens to our bedrooms?

They stay locked and we do not go in. That is the cleanest arrangement for everybody, because a cleaner in a room with somebody's belongings in it is how disputes start. If a tenant wants their own room done we can add it as a separate booking with that tenant, on the same visit, with their agreement rather than the landlord's. Nothing gets moved from a communal area into a bedroom either.

Will it be the same cleaner if the tenants keep changing?

Yes, we hold the cleaner to the house rather than to the tenants. In a property where rooms turn over through the year, the cleaner is often the only person who remembers where the stopcock is and which cupboard the vacuum belongs in. Whoever books it, tell us when someone new moves in, so the visit is expected and we are not a stranger on the doorstep to somebody who was never told.

Can you hold a key for a house where tenants come and go?

Yes, and a key safe is usually better than loose keys in a house with changing occupants. The safe is fitted where the landlord agrees to it, the code is held by us and by whoever books the clean, and we ask for it to be changed when a tenant moves out. We do not pass a code on to anyone else, including a tenant who asks us for it. If a key is lost we tell you the same day rather than the next visit.

One tenant works nights and sleeps during the day. Does that stop the visit?

No, but tell us and we will work around it. Shift work is common here and the fix is simple enough: we start at the far end of the house, leave the vacuum until later in the slot, and keep away from that landing until we are told the room is clear. What does not work is nobody mentioning it, because then the first anyone hears about it is a complaint about noise on a staircase at nine in the morning.

Do you cover the whole of Forest Fields?

Yes, all of NG7 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does domestic cleaning cost in Forest Fields?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start domestic cleaning in Forest Fields?

Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. Parking is on-street with cars nose to tail both sides, and the shared back entries are often the easier way in with equipment, and we group Forest Fields with Hyson Green, New Basford and Radford on the rota.
