Domestic Cleaning for Dunkirk homes

Small shared houses and flats where the household runs on hospital and campus timetables rather than office hours. Fortnightly visits get booked for the middle of the afternoon, with the shared rooms in scope and the bedrooms left shut.

Regular work here is shaped by rotas rather than by working weeks. A house on these streets typically holds a mix of postgraduates and people on hospital shifts, so there is no hour of the day when the whole household is out and no hour when everybody is in. The practical answer is a fixed afternoon slot agreed once, with the shared rooms in scope and bedrooms excluded unless every occupant has said otherwise in writing. That puts the hours where the load actually is, because in a house of five the kitchen and the single bathroom absorb almost all of it. The other thing worth settling at the start is where washing dries, since in a property with a yard and no room for a line it dries indoors, and a fortnightly visit cannot outrun the condensation that creates.

Dunkirk sits in NG7, under Nottingham City Council. Summer turnarounds dominate, and they arrive all at once as the shared houses empty. Around that sit landlord deep cleans booked before a September intake, carpet extraction on the hall run while the house is finally empty, and a smaller year-round strand of work for hospital staff and science park tenants.

What we run into on Dunkirk domestic cleaning jobs

The kitchen in most of these houses is a single storey rear addition with a flat roof, one small window and a hood that recirculates through a charcoal filter instead of venting outside. A recirculating hood does not take grease out of the room, it moves it about, so it lands on the wall cabinet tops, the ceiling above the hob and the upper edge of the door. Nobody replaces the filter, and a saturated one stops doing even the little it was doing. We wipe those top surfaces every visit because that is where it settles, and we say when a filter is past saving rather than cleaning politely around it.

How a Dunkirk domestic cleaning job actually runs

Not every terrace on these streets is let to students. Between the shared houses there are owner occupiers who have been here for decades, and a steady number of people who bought a small terrace because it is walkable to the QMC and to University Park. Those two groups want different things from a regular clean and we book them differently. The long standing residents usually want the whole house on a set day of the week. The hospital households want the kitchen, the bathroom and the stairs done properly and are relaxed about everything else. What both share is the problem of getting in, because nobody is home at a predictable hour on a rota. Keys or a lockbox get arranged before the first visit rather than after a wasted journey. We hold keys under a numbered system with nothing on the fob that names the address. Parking is the other fixed cost of working here. The permit bays fill early in the day, so we allow for a walk in from wherever the van can legally sit, and that walk is our time rather than yours.

Who books it here

On the practical side: Resident permit bays, filled through the day by people who have driven to the hospital and walked the rest. Tell us where a van can legally sit before the first visit, because working from the kerb of a dual carriageway is not an option.

We run Dunkirk on the same round as Lenton, The Park Estate and Beeston.

What we check on every Dunkirk job

We send the same pair to the same house wherever the rota allows, because somebody who has cleaned your kitchen before knows which cupboard door has stopped closing and which tap has an aerator that needs taking off. Every visit leaves a short written note saying what was done, what was not, and why. If the bin was overflowing and there were no liners in the house, that goes on the note rather than being left as a mystery for the person who gets home first. We work to a list you have seen and agreed, and when the list is running longer than the hours booked we tell you which items are being dropped instead of hurrying all of them. Cloths are colour separated between kitchen, bathroom and general use, washed between properties, and never carried damp from one house to the next.

What the domestic cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Bedrooms and living areas: Hard floors mopped
  • Bathrooms: Floor cleaned
  • Bathrooms: Toilet inside and out, including the seat, hinges and base
  • Kitchen: Hob and splashback exterior

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full domestic cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What domestic cleaning costs in Dunkirk

Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£50 to £70

Typical per visit in Dunkirk. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per visit
1 bed flat£40 to £50
2 bed£50 to £70
3 bed£60 to £80
4 bed£80 to £100
5 bed£100 to £120

A fortnightly clean of a two bedroom home works out around £1,560 to £1,820 a year. Weekly is roughly double.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Regular domestic, per hour£17 to £25
Ironing, per hour£14 to £20

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Domestic Cleaningin Dunkirk

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

Five of us share the house. Who agrees what gets cleaned?

One person, in writing, before the first visit, and usually that is the landlord or whoever collects the rent. The list says which rooms are included and which are not. Without it we end up cleaning around a disagreement, and the housemate who happened to be out that day is the one who complains afterwards. Bedrooms stay shut unless every tenant has agreed to them being opened.

Can a regular clean keep on top of condensation in a house like this?

Only partly, and it is fairer to say so than to keep taking the booking. We can take mould off painted surfaces and stop the window reveals and the bathroom getting a hold. What we cannot do is beat a house where washing dries indoors daily behind windows that stay shut against the road. That needs ventilation and somewhere to dry clothes, not a shorter gap between visits.

Nobody will be in. Can you still clean?

Yes, and on these streets that is the normal arrangement rather than the exception. We need a key or a lockbox code, the alarm code if there is one, and a note of anything we should not touch. Keys are tagged with a number rather than an address and stay with us between visits. If the arrangement changes, tell us before the day, because a cleaner standing on a doorstep is an hour nobody gets back.

Weekly or fortnightly for a house this size?

It depends on how many people use the kitchen rather than on how many bedrooms there are. One or two occupants in a small terrace are usually well served fortnightly. Four or more sharing a single kitchen and bathroom get better value weekly, because the fortnightly visit spends its first half undoing what built up in the second week. Start with whichever you prefer and we will say honestly if the interval is wrong.

Do you cover the whole of Dunkirk?

Yes, all of NG7 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does domestic cleaning cost in Dunkirk?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start domestic cleaning in Dunkirk?

Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. Resident permit bays, filled through the day by people who have driven to the hospital and walked the rest, and we group Dunkirk with Lenton, The Park Estate and Beeston on the rota.
