Window Cleaning for Long Eaton homes
Shopfronts and showroom glass are standing work, done before opening because display lighting shows every smear. On the terraced streets the front windows sit a stride from the kerb, so the lower panes take splash off the road and need a shorter rota.
There are two rounds here and they run on different clocks. Commercial glass comes first: shopfronts and showroom frontage, cleaned before the doors open, because a shop with marked glass at nine in the morning looks worse than one nobody has cleaned at all. Showroom glazing is the demanding part of it, full height, lit from inside and looked through after dark by people walking past, which finds every smear that daylight forgives. The domestic round is the terraces and the semis. On the terraced streets the front windows sit a stride from the kerb with no garden in between, so the lower half of the glass takes splash off the road and the sill collects it.
Long Eaton sits in NG10, under Erewash Borough Council. The housing here is mostly long rows of late Victorian terraces put up for the lace and furniture workforce, interwar and postwar semis on the edges, and apartments carved out of former mill floors near the centre, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Long Eaton window cleaning jobs
Rear windows on a terraced row are reached through the passage between pairs of houses, and that passage is usually gated at the street end and shared between two households. It has to be sorted out once, properly, rather than on the morning of a visit, because a pole and a hose reel will not go through a gate bolted from the far side. Where there is no passage at all the only route to the back is through the house, which turns a round into an appointment. Both are worth knowing before the first visit, and it is the thing that decides whether a terrace can sit on a rota alongside its neighbours.
How a Long Eaton window cleaning job actually runs
The round runs on a rota by street and on the weather, in that order. Water fed poles working off a tank in the van mean we need no outside tap, no socket and no ladder for a normal domestic first floor, which keeps the visit short and keeps us off your flowerbeds. What stops the round is hard frost, because water freezes on the glass and in the pole, and strong wind, because a pole at full extension is not controllable. A wet week pushes everybody back and the following week runs long to catch up, so we message ahead rather than expecting anyone to guess. Pure water dries clear without a squeegee, which is why glass often looks streaked while it is still wet and only comes right an hour later, and that surprises people on a first visit. Frames, sills and the glazed part of a door are done as part of the same pass. Access to the front is straightforward on these streets since the windows sit right on it.
Who books it here
The local reference points are West Park, the Market Place and High Street shops, the station and Trent College, which is usually enough for us to find a property without a postcode lookup.
We run Long Eaton on the same round as Sandiacre, Toton and Attenborough.
What we check on every Long Eaton job
Two faults get reported as poor cleaning and neither one is on a surface anybody can reach. The first is a failed sealed unit. The seal around the edge of a double glazed pane has gone, moisture is now inside the cavity between the two sheets, and the mist or the tidemark is on an internal face that cannot be cleaned without the unit being replaced. It shows worst in low morning sun and often clears by the afternoon, which is the giveaway. The second is old painted timber. Paint that has sat on a frame for years chalks, and rain carries that fine powder down onto the glass in streaks that reappear after the first shower whatever we do. Neither is fixed by cleaning the glass, so both get pointed out on the first visit rather than left for you to wonder about.
What the window cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Interior: Internal glazed doors, mirrors and glass partitions
- Interior: Edges detailed with a dry microfibre
- Interior: Glass washed, squeegeed in a single continuous pass and buffed dry
- Interior: Frame, sill and track dusted and vacuumed first, so you are not making mud
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full window cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What window cleaning costs in Long Eaton
Exterior glass on a rota. Interiors are charged separately and need access. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£15 to £28
Typical per visit in Long Eaton. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per visit |
|---|---|
| Terraced house | £12 to £20 |
| Semi-detached | £15 to £28 |
| Detached | £25 to £45 |
| Interiors, added to a visit | Roughly half again |
| Commercial frontage | Quoted on frequency |
The first clean of glass that has been left costs more than the ones after it, which is why a rota works out cheaper than an annual rescue.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Conservatory roof | Quoted after seeing it |
| First clean of neglected glass | Higher than the rota price |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Can you do the back windows if the passage gate is bolted?
Not without arranging it first, and it is the single most common reason a visit gets half done. The gate is normally shared, so the bolt is on whichever side the neighbour prefers, and we have no way through it. The workable answers are a key or a combination we hold, a neighbour who is reliably in, or booking the rear elevation as an appointment when somebody is home. Tell us at the start and the front can still run on the round.
How often should shop and showroom glass be done?
More often than a house, and the frequency is set by what the glass is for. A shopfront at pavement level takes splash, hand marks and fingerprints daily, so weekly is the usual answer and anything longer shows by the second week. Showroom frontage lit from inside is judged after dark and wants the same interval. Interiors matter more on both than they do domestically, because the mark a customer sees is as often on the inside of the pane.
It rained the day after you came. Was that a wasted visit?
Rain on its own is fairly clean and generally does not undo the work. What marks glass again quickly is rain running off a dirty sill, a chalking frame or a blocked gutter, which is a different problem and one we will point out. Splash thrown up from the road onto the lower half of a front window is the other culprit on these streets. If glass genuinely looks worse rather than merely wet, tell us and we will come and look at it.
Do you need a tap or a socket from us?
No. The van carries its own tank of purified water and the pole runs from that, so nothing is drawn from the property and nothing goes into your electricity. What we do need is somewhere the van can stop within reach of the run of hose, which on the tighter terraced streets can occasionally mean coming back at a quieter time of day. If parking there is unusually difficult, telling us at the start saves a wasted visit.
Do you cover the whole of Long Eaton?
Yes, all of NG10 and the surrounding streets, under Erewash Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does window cleaning cost in Long Eaton?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of windows, how many storeys, and whether interiors are included with the exterior rota. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start window cleaning in Long Eaton?
Within a fortnight to join the rota, and the first clean of neglected glass takes longer than the ones after it. Town centre premises are reached off the back service lanes rather than the shop front, and loading restrictions set the timing there, and we group Long Eaton with Sandiacre, Toton and Attenborough on the rota.
