Why do the sills on one side of our house go grey again so quickly?
If your garden backs onto the railway land, or you sit close to the A52, the deposit on those sills is fine and slightly oily rather than dusty, so a dry cloth pushes it about instead of lifting it. It wants a detergent solution and a rinse. It also comes back faster than ordinary house dust, which is why the glass and sills on that elevation need a shorter rota than the sheltered side of the same property.
