Mattress Cleaning for Forest Fields homes

A let room here is a bedsit: kettle, microwave and small fridge on the chest of drawers, a metre from the pillow. The mattress catches what that arrangement spills, and a fire door on a closer will not stay open to dry it.

Two different customers book this here and they want different things from it. A landlord books a mattress between one room tenant and the next, because the check in report describes its condition and the next person will photograph it on day one. A tenant books it because they have been eating, drinking and making coffee in the room they sleep in, which is what a room let actually amounts to, and the mattress has taken the consequences. The second job is the harder one. Food and drink spills are protein and sugar rather than dust, they want cold treatment and enzyme work rather than heat, and they are usually months old by the time anybody asks. We say before starting which marks will lighten and which will clear.

Forest Fields sits in NG7, under Nottingham City Council. Most of the terraces are let room by room, so the communal parts belong to nobody in particular. Hallways, stair carpets and shared kitchens carry the whole house while individual rooms stay reasonable, and a clean booked for one tenant rarely covers the parts that actually need it.

What we run into on Forest Fields mattress cleaning jobs

The self closer is the thing that shapes the drying. Bedroom doors in a licensed house carry a lock and a closer, so the door swings shut behind you and cannot be wedged open without defeating the fitting it is there for. Add a window restrictor and the room has almost no through draught, which is exactly what a damp surface does not want. So we work low moisture, take more dry passes than wet ones, and run an air mover across the surface off a socket in the room rather than trusting the room to do it. It also means booking a morning, because a mattress cleaned at four in the afternoon is still damp at bedtime.

How a Forest Fields mattress cleaning job actually runs

Everything happens in the room, because there is nowhere else for it to happen. The bed cannot come out onto a landing that is the only route to four other rooms, and it will not stand on its edge in a room where the wardrobe is behind the door and the chest of drawers is under the window. So we work around the bed where it stands, which means the top of it cleared and the floor either side free before we arrive. Divan bases here are usually the drawer kind, and those drawers are the room's storage rather than spare space, so they want emptying the night before if you want the insides done. Access to the house is the other half of it. Equipment comes in on foot from wherever the van stops and up a staircase built for one family that now carries six people, so we book a morning slot while the stairs are quiet. A landlord doing several rooms at a changeover gets them back to back in one visit, which costs less than three separate trips and leaves every room the rest of the day to dry out.

Who books it here

The housing here is mostly dense Victorian and Edwardian terraces on a tight grid off Berridge Road and Bentinck Road, a large share of them now shared houses or converted into flats, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

We run Forest Fields on the same round as Hyson Green, New Basford and Radford.

What we check on every Forest Fields job

The head end is where the evidence is in a room like this. A kettle and a mug on the chest of drawers a stride from the pillow means tea and coffee running down the side of the mattress and into the piping, and a small fridge working away at the back of the same surface adds a steady supply of warmth and dust to whatever is already there. We vacuum the seams, the piping and the handles with a HEPA machine before anything wet goes near, because that is where the debris actually sits, then treat the mineral tidemarks separately from the body oils beside them. Under the base is the other find. A divan pushed against a wall in a room where nothing has been moved for years has dust, hair, coins and hair grips beneath it, and the carpet below holds the outline of the frame. We move the base, do the floor under it and put it back where it was.

What the mattress cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • The mattress itself: HEPA vacuum over both faces, the sides, seams, piping and handles
  • The mattress itself: Air movement across the surface before we leave
  • Stains and odour: Bicarbonate deodorising where the smell sits in the surface
  • The rest of the bed: Fabric headboard cleaned to the same standard as the mattress

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full mattress cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Forest Fields property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What mattress cleaning costs in Forest Fields

Mattress cleaning, priced by bed size. A mattress added to a carpet booking costs less, because the call-out is already covered. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£40 to £70

Typical per mattress in Forest Fields. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per mattress
Minimum call-out£60 to £90
Cot or child's mattress£15 to £30
Single£25 to £45
Double£40 to £70
King£50 to £85
Super king£60 to £100

One mattress on its own is priced at the minimum call-out, not at the size row in the table, because the visit costs the same whether it cleans one bed or four. Two or three mattresses in a single booking is the point at which the per mattress rate starts to apply.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Divan base or headboard, each£25 to £50
Set stain treatment, per area£10 to £30
Deodorising treatment£10 to £25
Second and later mattresses, same visit20% to 30% less each

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Somebody sleeps in this room tonight. Will it be dry?

If we start in the morning, yes. Low moisture work, more dry passes than wet ones and an air mover running across the surface gets a sprung mattress dry in a few hours in a room with some warmth in it. What we will not do is promise the same for an afternoon booking in a room with a self closing door and a restricted window, because nothing is moving through that room, and the honest answer is to book earlier in the day.

The mattress belongs to the landlord. Can I book it myself?

Yes, and plenty of tenants do before a check out. It is worth telling whoever manages the house so the work is on record and nobody later claims the mattress was swapped or damaged. We photograph the condition before we start and again when we finish, and send both to whoever booked. Where a mattress is already stained through into the filling we will say so at the start rather than take the booking and disappoint you.

Can you clean the mattress and the room's carpet on the same visit?

Yes, and in a single room it is the sensible order: mattress first with the bed moved out of the way, carpet afterwards, so the floor is not being walked on while it dries. Both want the same thing from you, which is the floor clear and the drawers empty. In a room this size the two together still take less time than the travelling does, and one air mover covers both of them. Book the morning rather than the afternoon.

There is no socket free by the bed. Does that matter?

It matters for drying rather than for cleaning. An air mover needs a socket, and these rooms often have two, one behind the fridge and one behind the bed, both already in use. We bring an extension lead and we ask before unplugging anything, because a small fridge with somebody's food in it is not ours to switch off. Tell us at booking and we will plan the airflow around what is actually available in the room.

Do you cover the whole of Forest Fields?

Yes, all of NG7 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does mattress cleaning cost in Forest Fields?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how many mattresses go in one visit, the bed sizes, and whether anything needs treating rather than just extracting. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start mattress cleaning in Forest Fields?

Within a week, and we would rather bring it alongside a carpet booking than make a separate journey for one bed. Parking is on-street with cars nose to tail both sides, and the shared back entries are often the easier way in with equipment, and we group Forest Fields with Hyson Green, New Basford and Radford on the rota.
