Laundry & Ironing for Daybrook homes

The buyers are the flats over the parade: one machine in a kitchen with no floor for an airer, no garden and no balcony. Collection happens at a door on a bus route, so the window is agreed rather than approximate.

Who buys this here is not who buys it in a house with a utility room. It is the flats over the parade, where one machine sits in a kitchen with no floor space for an airer and no garden or balcony to hang anything on, and the let stock on the same stretch, where linen is counted stock rather than a household chore. Those two want opposite things. A household wants a service wash back folded and sorted by person on a fixed day, so the flat is not full of drying clothes three days a week. A let wants sets in rotation, counted out and back, so a changeover never waits on a machine. We would rather build the collection day around your bin day and working hours than name a slot and ask you to be in.

Daybrook sits in NG5, under Gedling Borough Council. The local reference points are the Home Brewery building, St Paul's church on Mansfield Road and Daybrook Square, which is usually enough for us to find a property without a postcode lookup.

What we run into on Daybrook laundry & ironing jobs

Towels tell us what a property is like before we have seen it. Anything dried indoors in a small flat goes into the cupboard not quite dry, and a stack put away at that point picks up a musty note that no amount of conditioner covers. That is a washing problem rather than an ironing one: they want a hot wash on their own, kept apart from clothing, and a full dry instead of a partial one. Bed linen out of the same properties arrives in the opposite condition, washed often and pressed never, because there is nowhere in a one bed flat to have a board and a duvet cover open at the same time.

How a Daybrook laundry & ironing job actually runs

Collection has to work every week rather than once. On the parade there is a shared street door and no lift, so we agree a window rather than a morning, park on a side street, come to the flat door and weigh the bag there in front of you. Behind the corridor there are drives, which makes it simple, and the only thing worth fixing is the day. Bin day is the one to avoid on the narrower streets, since the bins stand on the frontage and there is nowhere to pull in. Term time changes the shape again. School uniform on a fixed weekly slot is the most common standing booking households here ask for, and it wants returning early enough in the week to be useful rather than on a Friday. Lets and short lets on the same stretch run a counted rotation instead, sets out and sets back, timed to the changeover rather than to a weekday. Tell us which of those patterns your property runs on and we will hold the slot against it.

Who books it here

Fortnightly domestic visits in the semis make up most of the round. Deep cleans here tend to be booked around a move rather than to a season, either before a house goes on the market or in the empty week after completion. Window cleaning is the third, and it is the front elevation that sells it.

We run Daybrook on the same round as Arnold, Woodthorpe and Sherwood.

What we check on every Daybrook job

Sorting is where a bag stops being a bag. Workwear is what we get asked about most on this side of the area, because people working in the trade units off Sir John Robinson Way come home in clothing nobody wants going through a family machine, and keeping it apart is the whole reason for sending it out. Dust, brick and ordinary grime are straightforward: hot, on their own, and back with the rest. Oil, solvent, paint and anything biological are not, and we decline those rather than take them, because they contaminate a drum for whatever runs next and oil in a heated dryer is a fire risk rather than a stain. Labels settle everything else. Dry clean only, fused interlining, a broken zip or a loose button all come back untouched with the reason written on the count sheet, because a zip that has already failed will put a hole in whatever it meets in the drum.

What the laundry & ironing covers

A sample of what is included

  • Service wash, charged by weight: Folded and bagged by person or by room if you tell us how the house works
  • Service wash, charged by weight: Washed at the temperature on the care label, not one temperature for everything
  • Linen, towels and household items: Workwear kept apart from household washing, which is the whole point of sending it out
  • Linen, towels and household items: Duvet covers, sheets and pillowcases washed and either pressed or folded flat

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full laundry & ironing page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Daybrook property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What laundry & ironing costs in Daybrook

Typical UK rates. Washing is priced by weight, ironing by item or by hour, duvets individually. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£2 to £4

Typical cost in Daybrook. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical cost
Service wash, washed, dried and folded, per kg£2 to £4
Minimum load, or a minimum charge instead5 to 8kg, or £15 to £25
Washed, dried and ironed, per kg£6.50 to £9
Ironing only, per kg£5.50 to £9
Ironing, per hour£14 to £20
Shirt, washed and ironed£1.50 to £3

A 6kg bag works out at £12 to £24 on the per kg rate but is usually billed at the £15 to £25 minimum, so that is the realistic floor for a single load. Ironing is the expensive half: washed, dried and ironed runs £6.50 to £9 per kg against £2 to £4 for washing alone, which is why sending shirts priced by the item often works out cheaper than sending a whole bag ironed.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Duvet, single£14 to £22
Duvet, double£18 to £27
Duvet, king or super king£25 to £32
Collection and return, per orderFree to £5

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Questions

Laundry & Ironingin Daybrook

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

There is nowhere to stop outside. How does collection actually work?

At an agreed window rather than a vague morning. The van goes on a side street, we come to the door, and the bag is weighed there so the weight and the charge are settled before anything is washed. It is one trip up and one trip back down, which is why bags work better than boxes on that staircase. If you are out, a keysafe or a neighbour is fine, as long as the count sheet travels in the bag.

Can you take our duvet and pillows as well?

Pillows and a single duvet, yes, where the drum is genuinely large enough for the item to move about in the water. King and super king duvets, and feather ones of any size, need a launderer with a machine built for them, and we will say so rather than take the bag and hope. Send a photograph of the care label when you book and we will tell you before collection day instead of on it.

One of us reacts to detergent. Can you use something different?

Yes. Non biological and fragrance free detergent is available on request and it does not cost extra, and it is worth saying at the booking rather than after a delivery has come back. We can also keep one person's washing entirely separate through the sort, the wash and the fold if that is what the reaction needs. Towels are run hot and on their own regardless, which most people with sensitive skin prefer anyway.

How do we know nothing goes missing between collection and return?

A count sheet, written at your door when the bag is weighed. The same sheet comes back in the bag with the folded washing, so you can check it against what went out without ringing anybody. Items are folded by person or by room if you tell us how the household works, which makes a gap obvious immediately. Anything we hold back, for a label or a broken fastening, is listed with the reason instead of quietly returned.

Do you cover the whole of Daybrook?

Yes, all of NG5 and the surrounding streets, under Gedling Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does laundry & ironing cost in Daybrook?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the weight rather than the item count, whether ironing is included or just washing, and how often we collect. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start laundry & ironing in Daybrook?

Within a few days to set up a collection day, and after that it runs to the same day each week. Most houses have a drive, though on the older pairs it is one narrow strip and usually already occupied, and we group Daybrook with Arnold, Woodthorpe and Sherwood on the rota.
