Deep Cleaning for Daybrook homes

Booked around a move more often than to a season, usually in the empty week between completion and the van arriving. An empty house shows everything the furniture was covering, which is exactly why that day is worth using.

The most common deep clean we do here happens in an empty house. Completion on the Friday, the removal van on the Monday, and one clear day in between with no furniture to work around and no reason to leave anything out. An empty semi shows what it has been hiding: the outline of a wardrobe pressed into the carpet, a grease shadow up the wall where the cooker stood, the shelf at the top of the airing cupboard and the top of every door. It is also the only time the inside of the fitted units, the loft hatch surround and the space behind the bath panel are reachable without a negotiation. If a house is coming to you empty, that day is worth more than any other you could book.

Daybrook sits in NG5, under Gedling Borough Council. The housing here is mostly interwar bay-fronted semis on the roads off Mansfield Road, a run of older terraces near the brewery site, and postwar and modern infill filling the gaps between them, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on Daybrook deep cleaning jobs

Cookers leave a signature. Lift out a freestanding one that has stood in the same gap for years and the wall behind it carries a brown fat film in the exact shape of the appliance, the vinyl or tile at floor level has a hard yellow line along it, and the skirting either side is soft with old grease rather than dusty. That comes off with a degreaser and dwell time rather than with pressure, and doing it before a new appliance is pushed into the gap is the only straightforward chance anyone gets at it. Where a pantry survives, the stone shelf in it has usually never met anything but a dry cloth.

How a Daybrook deep cleaning job actually runs

The Day Brook runs along the bottom of this area, and the ground either side of it sits lower than the ridge the main road follows. That is the background to a good share of the deep cleans we are asked for here, and the call tends to come in late winter. A north facing bedroom in an interwar semi has gone spotted black in the corner behind a wardrobe, the sealant round the bath has darkened, and the coats in the understairs cupboard smell of the cupboard. A deep clean is the right answer to what has grown. It is not the answer to why it grew. We treat the affected surfaces properly, get behind and underneath the furniture that has been blocking the cold wall, and take the soft material out of the cupboard instead of working around it. Then we tell you plainly what we found: which walls were cold to the hand, where the air was not moving, and whether the bathroom extractor was doing anything at all.

Who books it here

Daybrook sits at the bottom of the Mansfield Road dip, where the brook that named it runs under the road. Water and grit come downhill to it, so front paths, thresholds and door tracks carry more than the houses further up the same road do, and gardens stay soft late into spring.

We run Daybrook on the same round as Arnold, Woodthorpe and Sherwood.

What we check on every Daybrook job

Mould on a bedroom wall is not a wiping job. Dry cloths on a dry patch put spores into the air of a room someone sleeps in, and a household spray with no dwell time takes the colour off and leaves the rest. We work wet, give the product the time it asks for, use disposable cloths on those areas and bag them rather than carrying them to the next room. The back of the wardrobe matters as much as the wall. Cheap hardboard backing holds moisture and grows its own patch facing inwards, so it gets pulled out and checked. Trickle vents in the window frames are worth a look while we are there, because they are frequently painted shut or taped over. The understairs cupboard is worth opening properly too. It is the coldest storage in the house, has no ventilation, and coats go in damp and stay that way, so the smell blamed on the cupboard is usually coming off what hangs in it.

What the deep cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Bathrooms: Extractor vent, cabinet interiors, mirrors and chrome
  • Everywhere else: Carpet edges, which a normal vacuum pass misses
  • Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Washing machine drawer, door seal and filter
  • Bathrooms: Toilet including hinges, base and behind the pan

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Daybrook property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What deep cleaning costs in Daybrook

A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£165 to £280

Typical one-off in Daybrook. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical one-off
Studio£110 to £180
1 bedroom£135 to £220
2 bedrooms£165 to £280
3 bedrooms£220 to £350
4 bedrooms£300 to £460

Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Single oven deep clean£45 to £80
Double oven£70 to £110
Range cooker£80 to £130

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Deep Cleaningin Daybrook

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

Should we book it before the furniture arrives or after we have moved in?

Before, if the dates give you a day. Everything on the list is easier in an empty room and several items on it are effectively impossible once a wardrobe is standing against the wall. If the timings will not allow it, we would rather come a fortnight after you move in than squeeze a half version into moving day, when the house is full of boxes and there is nowhere to put anything down.

The house smells of the people who lived here before. Will a deep clean deal with it?

Most of it, usually, because most of what you are smelling sits in soft material and on surfaces rather than in the structure. Kitchen grease, fridge seals, bins and carpets account for the bulk. What cleaning will not fix is odour that has soaked into underlay, or a room that has been smoked in for years, and we would rather tell you which of those you have than take payment for a second attempt at it.

Will the mould come back after a deep clean?

If nothing else changes, yes, and usually in the same corner. What we remove is the growth and the staining, which buys you a clean starting point and a much healthier room in the meantime. Keeping it away is about moisture and air movement: a working extractor, a gap behind furniture on external walls, vents that open, and drying washing somewhere other than a closed bedroom. We will say which of those looked like the problem in your house.

Can you deep clean room by room while we are still living here?

Yes, and in an occupied house it is often the better plan. We take a room or a floor at a time, finish it properly and give it back to you, rather than pulling the whole place apart on one day and leaving you nowhere to sit. Bedrooms and the bathroom are the usual first stage. The one thing we ask is that wardrobes and beds can be moved off the external walls on the day, since that is where most of the work is.

Do you cover the whole of Daybrook?

Yes, all of NG5 and the surrounding streets, under Gedling Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does deep cleaning cost in Daybrook?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start deep cleaning in Daybrook?

Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Most houses have a drive, though on the older pairs it is one narrow strip and usually already occupied, and we group Daybrook with Arnold, Woodthorpe and Sherwood on the rota.
