Mattress Cleaning for Cinderhill homes

The main bedroom in a three storey house is in the roof, up a second flight narrower and tighter than the first. A king mattress goes up there once, and everything after that happens in the room it is standing in.

A three storey house puts its main bedroom in the roof, and the flight up to it is not the flight you came up first. It is narrower, it turns tighter at the top, and there is a doorway at the head of it. A double went up there when the house was furnished and it is not coming down for a cleaning visit, so the work happens in the room, alongside a bed that cannot always be walked round because the ceiling drops at the eaves and a sliding wardrobe takes one wall. The older semis have the opposite problem in miniature: a third bedroom over the stairs that takes a single with a hand's width to spare. In both, the mattress is cleaned where it lies and the space is what has to be arranged.

Cinderhill sits in NG6, under Nottingham City Council. Two generations of housing sit a few hundred yards apart, and the ground under the newer half was a working pit. Reclaimed land means shale and clinker are rarely far under the turf, so what walks into a house off it is angular black grit rather than garden soil.

What we run into on Cinderhill mattress cleaning jobs

Almost every mattress we lift in the newer houses is one sided. Foam and hybrid beds arrive rolled and vacuum packed, they carry a comfort layer on one face only, and the label says no turn, so a bed that would once have been flipped twice a year has taken every night of its life on the same surface. Two things follow. The wear is all in one place, usually a shallow dip you can feel with a flat hand rather than see. And foam takes far less water than a sprung mattress would, because a closed cell structure holds it in the middle where no air reaches, so that bed is vacuumed, spot treated and dried rather than extracted.

How a Cinderhill mattress cleaning job actually runs

Scheduling this one is mostly about the stairs and the daylight. The machine, the air mover and the leads all go up two flights in a townhouse, so we bring what is needed in one trip, and the visit works best in the morning, which gives the mattress the warm part of the day to dry and gives you a bed that night. A fair share of the newer stock here is let rather than owner occupied, so a good number of these bookings come from a landlord or an agent between tenancies rather than from the household sleeping in the bed. That is a different job to arrange: an empty property, nobody to work around, and no need for the bed to be usable that evening. What it does need is the power and the heating still on, because otherwise nothing dries and the machine has nowhere to plug in. An occupied house gets worked around whoever is home. If the bedroom carpet is due as well, take both in one visit, since the call out is the expensive part and the kit is already at the top of the house.

Who books it here

The housing here is mostly older terraces and interwar semis from the years the pit was working, with estates of newer houses, three storey townhouses and small closes built across the reclaimed colliery ground behind them, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

We run Cinderhill on the same round as Old Basford, Aspley and Highbury Vale.

What we check on every Cinderhill job

The divan base is the half of the bed nobody has ever cleaned, and in a three storey house it also shows how the bed got up there. A base for an upstairs room comes in two halves that clip together, and once the mattress is off you can see the join as a line of grit and fluff running across the platform where the two sections meet. The platform itself is stretched fabric over a timber frame, and directly under the head end it carries a grey shadow of skin and dust that has worked down through the mattress over the years. Drawer bases add to that: the runners collect carpet fibre and hair until the drawer starts catching on its way out, and the underside of each drawer holds the same felt. All of it lifts dry, through a HEPA vacuum, before any water goes near the mattress, and that is why the base is a separate line on the booking.

What the mattress cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • The rest of the bed: The gap behind and under the bed, which nothing reaches once the frame is in place
  • The mattress itself: Low moisture agitation, with extraction only where the soiling justifies it
  • Stains and odour: Odour traced to its source, because a fragrance laid over a urine mark comes back in the first humid week
  • The rest of the bed: Protector or topper handled, washed or refitted as the label allows

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full mattress cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What mattress cleaning costs in Cinderhill

Mattress cleaning, priced by bed size. A mattress added to a carpet booking costs less, because the call-out is already covered. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£40 to £70

Typical per mattress in Cinderhill. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per mattress
Minimum call-out£60 to £90
Cot or child's mattress£15 to £30
Single£25 to £45
Double£40 to £70
King£50 to £85
Super king£60 to £100

One mattress on its own is priced at the minimum call-out, not at the size row in the table, because the visit costs the same whether it cleans one bed or four. Two or three mattresses in a single booking is the point at which the per mattress rate starts to apply.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Divan base or headboard, each£25 to £50
Set stain treatment, per area£10 to £30
Deodorising treatment£10 to £25
Second and later mattresses, same visit20% to 30% less each

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Mattress Cleaningin Cinderhill

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

The bed is on the top floor and the room is tight. Do you need it moved out?

No, and please do not try. We need to stand on both long sides and at the foot, so about an arm's length clear on each, which usually means pulling the bed out from the wall rather than out of the room. If the head sits under the eaves or against a sliding wardrobe, tell us and we will bring it forward ourselves. Bedside tables and anything on the floor are worth clearing before we arrive.

How long before we can sleep in it, up in a room in the roof?

Four to eight hours ventilated is the normal range, and the top floor is usually the quickest room in these houses to get there, because warm air collects up the stairwell and the ensuite door can stay open. Book it for the morning, leave the bedroom door open and a window on the latch, and it will be ready that night. Booked at four in the afternoon it is a bed for the following night, so plan where somebody sleeps.

Would you clean two beds in one visit?

Yes, and it is the sensible way to book it, because the call out is already covered and the second bed costs less than the first. In a three storey house the practical order is top down: the room in the roof first, while the air mover is up there, then the first floor after it. Tell us the sizes rather than the room names, since a king and a single are different amounts of work and different amounts of drying.

There is a mark we think dates back to the cot years. Will it come out?

It will most likely lighten rather than clear, and you get that verdict before we start rather than afterwards. An old urine or sweat mark is mineral salt and set protein that has migrated down into the filling, and cleaning reaches the top layer of it. What can be done properly is the smell, treated at source with an enzyme rather than covered with a fragrance, because a covered odour comes back in the first humid week of the year.

Do you cover the whole of Cinderhill?

Yes, all of NG6 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does mattress cleaning cost in Cinderhill?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how many mattresses go in one visit, the bed sizes, and whether anything needs treating rather than just extracting. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start mattress cleaning in Cinderhill?

Within a week, and we would rather bring it alongside a carpet booking than make a separate journey for one bed. Drives and allocated bays on the newer estates and on-street on the older roads, so parking is rarely the problem, and we group Cinderhill with Old Basford, Aspley and Highbury Vale on the rota.
