We cannot open the windows because of the road. What can we actually do about the damp air?
You cannot air a house on a main road the way the advice assumes, so it has to be done by machine instead. Run the bathroom fan through the shower and for fifteen minutes afterwards, cook with the lids on and the hood ducted outside, and put the laundry in one room with a dehumidifier rather than spread across the house. Ten minutes with the back door open at a quiet hour does the rest.
