Domestic Cleaning for Cinderhill homes

A round that alternates between settled older houses and modern estates where the floor area runs upwards over three storeys. Bedroom count tells us very little here, so we ask how many flights and how many bathrooms before quoting.

A fortnightly round here crosses two kinds of house within a few streets. One is settled: a hall, a front room, a kitchen at the back, a bathroom upstairs, everything where you would guess it. The other is a modern townhouse with a garage underneath, where the same three bedrooms are stacked over three floors and the staircase is a serious fraction of what gets cleaned. A vertical house takes longer than a flat one of the same floor area, partly because the vacuum goes up and down rather than across, and mostly because the washrooms multiply: a cloakroom at the bottom, a family bathroom in the middle, an ensuite in the roof. So we ask how many flights and how many basins rather than how many bedrooms, and the quote holds on the day more often for it.

Cinderhill sits in NG6, under Nottingham City Council. Fortnightly domestic rounds across both halves, and deep cleans booked at the point someone works out that a five year old house has annual jobs in it too. After builders work sits third, which is unusual for a residential area: plots keep coming forward here, and the snagging trades come back for months after handover.

What we run into on Cinderhill domestic cleaning jobs

Open plan is what changes a maintenance clean in the newer houses. There is no door between the hob and the sofa, so cooking vapour never stays in a kitchen. It lands on the stair spindles, the underside of the handrail and the wall above whichever seat sits closest to the cooker. None of it looks dirty. It feels faintly tacky, it holds dust, and the dust is back within days of a visit, which everybody puts down to the vacuuming. Degreasing the spindles and the rail two or three times a year settles something people had decided was just a dusty house.

How a Cinderhill domestic cleaning job actually runs

Access is the part of a regular round here that wants settling before anything else. On the newer estates the drives are short, the visitor bays fill early, and several of the terraced blocks put their parking in a court behind the houses, so the door we are cleaning is not always the door nearest the van. On the older streets the kerb is free through the middle of the day and tight from late afternoon onwards, which is why we would rather come to those before the school run than after it. Plenty of households here leave the car at home and take the tram from Cinderhill or from the park and ride at Phoenix Park, so nobody is in while we work and the visit runs on a key. We hold keys against a signed record, or work to a key safe if you prefer, and we agree one arrangement and stick to it rather than changing it week by week. Tell us the alarm routine and which day the bins go out, because both of those shape the end of the visit.

Who books it here

On the practical side: Drives and allocated bays on the newer estates and on-street on the older roads, so parking is rarely the problem. Finding the address can be. The most recent plots are not always on a satellite map yet, so send the plot number when you book.

We run Cinderhill on the same round as Old Basford, Aspley and Highbury Vale.

What we check on every Cinderhill job

The bathroom fan is the thing worth looking at in the newer houses. Where there is no opening window the room is ventilated by a mechanical extract on a humidity sensor, and the grille it pulls through builds a felt of grey lint that nobody counts as cleaning. Once that grille is loaded the fan sounds exactly the same and shifts far less air, so steam hangs about longer and the ceiling shows it first. You get a soft grey shadow spreading out from the fan housing, and a pink orange film along the top edge of the shower seal that is not limescale and does not care how hard it is scrubbed. Wiping the grille and the blade behind it takes minutes on a visit. Doing it changes how long the room stays wet, and that is most of what keeps a modern bathroom clean between cleans.

What the domestic cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Bedrooms and living areas: Visible clutter tidied into sensible places
  • Kitchen: Appliance fronts
  • Bathrooms: Toilet inside and out, including the seat, hinges and base
  • Bathrooms: Tiles wiped

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full domestic cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What domestic cleaning costs in Cinderhill

Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£50 to £70

Typical per visit in Cinderhill. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per visit
1 bed flat£40 to £50
2 bed£50 to £70
3 bed£60 to £80
4 bed£80 to £100
5 bed£100 to £120

A fortnightly clean of a two bedroom home works out around £1,560 to £1,820 a year. Weekly is roughly double.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Regular domestic, per hour£17 to £25
Ironing, per hour£14 to £20

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

We moved from an older house and this one seems to get dusty far faster. Why?

Because it is still finishing itself off. Plaster, screed and jointing compound all carry on shedding a very fine powder for months, and it comes out of loft hatches, service voids and the gaps round pipework long after the decorating is done. Outside, a recent plot has bare ground rather than established planting, so there is loose material blowing about that a settled street does not have. It genuinely does slow down, usually in the second year.

Do you quote by the number of bedrooms?

It is the starting point and it is not enough on its own here. Three bedrooms in a townhouse means two flights of stairs, three floors of landing and often three places to wash, where three bedrooms in a semi means one flight and one bathroom. The difference between those two is close to an hour on every visit. Tell us the number of floors and the number of toilets and the estimate will be a real one.

Nobody is in during the day. How does that actually work?

On a key, which is how most of our regular work here runs. The key is logged against a reference rather than an address, the alarm code sits separately, and the same person comes each time so you are not explaining the house repeatedly. We work a fixed order of rooms and leave a note of anything we found, a dripping seal or a bulb gone, since that is the part you lose by not being there. If a visit needs to be moved we tell you before the day, not on it.

Our drive is narrow and there are cars on it. Where do you park?

Wherever we are not blocking you in, which usually means the kerb rather than the drive. It is worth saying if you are in one of the blocks with a rear parking court, because then the shortest walk to your door is from the court and not from the street. We carry what we need in one trip either way. The only thing that genuinely slows us is a shared court gate that needs a fob nobody has given us.

Do you cover the whole of Cinderhill?

Yes, all of NG6 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does domestic cleaning cost in Cinderhill?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start domestic cleaning in Cinderhill?

Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. Drives and allocated bays on the newer estates and on-street on the older roads, so parking is rarely the problem, and we group Cinderhill with Old Basford, Aspley and Highbury Vale on the rota.
