Laundry & Ironing for West Bridgford homes

Two working parents, uniform through term time and club kit at weekends, in houses whose enclosed storm porch solves the handover. Collections run to a fixed morning, because the streets around the ground shut us out for an afternoon once a crowd is arriving.

Two buyers in one postcode, wanting opposite things. The family houses almost all have a machine and a dryer in a utility off the kitchen, so nobody here is short of washing capacity. What they are short of is the hour at the board, which is why the booking is usually ironing only: work shirts back on hangers, uniform through term time, and a bag of club kit after the weekend. The flats are the other way round. No outside line, no room for a dryer, and often a washer in a kitchen cupboard, so the service wash by weight is the useful thing and the ironing is incidental. Quoting one from the other is where people get a surprise, because a bag of shirts weighs almost nothing and takes the longest.

West Bridgford sits in NG2, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. The local reference points are Trent Bridge, Rushcliffe Country Park and the Central Avenue shops, which is usually enough for us to find a property without a postcode lookup.

What we run into on West Bridgford laundry & ironing jobs

The enclosed storm porch on the older houses solves the part of this that usually goes wrong. Outer door, inner door, a metre or so of dry floor between them, out of the weather and out of sight from the pavement: that is a better handover point than a doorstep or a bin store, and it means a collection does not need anybody at home. What it does not suit is the return, because pressed shirts come back on hangers under a cover and a porch has nowhere to hang them without crushing the shoulders. Those go inside, on the newel post at the stair foot, which is the request we get more than any other here.

How a West Bridgford laundry & ironing job actually runs

Collections here run to a fixed weekday morning rather than a time you choose, because the round only works if stops are close together and the van is not hunting a space at every door. Bin day complicates that more than anything else. On a permit street a row of wheelie bins on the kerb takes the last of the width, so we work the streets on the other cycle first and come back. Tell us your bin day when you book and it stops being an issue. Access is usually the porch. Leave the bag inside the outer door with the count sheet in it and nobody needs to be home, which is what most households choose once they have tried waiting in for a van. Returns need a person or a plan, since pressed shirts come back on hangers and cannot sit outside. Term time is the other fixed point: uniform goes in on the same day each week from September, and the week term starts is the busiest of the year for it. On fixture afternoons the roads nearest the ground close to us in practice, so those addresses get a morning return.

Who books it here

Family homes with two or three bathrooms and a lot of floor area, so most enquiries here are for a weekly clean rather than a fortnightly one. Trent Bridge match days fill the streets, and we schedule around the fixture list rather than fighting it.

We run West Bridgford on the same round as Sneinton, Nottingham City Centre and Ruddington.

What we check on every West Bridgford job

Kit is what actually tests this service here rather than shirts. Football and cricket whites come back with grass and with the fine silt off the riverside paths, and those are two different problems: grass is a pigment that wants an oxygen based treatment and time, while silt is particulate and mostly comes out in a cold prewash before the main cycle ever runs. Synthetic training tops are the third case. They hold odour in the fibre rather than on it, they cannot take the temperature that would deal with it, and softener makes it worse by coating the fibre, so they run separately without it. School uniform brings its own detail: embroidered badges on sweatshirts distort if they are pressed directly, so those go under a cloth or are turned inside out. Everything is counted at collection, counted again at the fold, and the sheet in the bag matches the one you signed.

What the laundry & ironing covers

A sample of what is included

  • Linen, towels and household items: School uniform on a fixed weekly slot through term time
  • Ironing: Priced per item or per hour, whichever is cheaper for what you actually have
  • Linen, towels and household items: Pillows and single duvets where the drum size genuinely allows it, said plainly at booking
  • Service wash, charged by weight: An itemised count sheet in the bag, matching the one taken at collection

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full laundry & ironing page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What laundry & ironing costs in West Bridgford

Typical UK rates. Washing is priced by weight, ironing by item or by hour, duvets individually. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£2 to £4

Typical cost in West Bridgford. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical cost
Service wash, washed, dried and folded, per kg£2 to £4
Minimum load, or a minimum charge instead5 to 8kg, or £15 to £25
Washed, dried and ironed, per kg£6.50 to £9
Ironing only, per kg£5.50 to £9
Ironing, per hour£14 to £20
Shirt, washed and ironed£1.50 to £3

A 6kg bag works out at £12 to £24 on the per kg rate but is usually billed at the £15 to £25 minimum, so that is the realistic floor for a single load. Ironing is the expensive half: washed, dried and ironed runs £6.50 to £9 per kg against £2 to £4 for washing alone, which is why sending shirts priced by the item often works out cheaper than sending a whole bag ironed.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Duvet, single£14 to £22
Duvet, double£18 to £27
Duvet, king or super king£25 to £32
Collection and return, per orderFree to £5

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Questions

Laundry & Ironingin West Bridgford

Ring us on 07438 843980, or see the full service page.

We already have a washing machine. What are we actually buying?

Time at the ironing board, in most houses on these streets. Ironing is priced per item or per hour, whichever comes out cheaper for what you have, and it runs separately from the weight based service wash. Send the shirts, the uniform and the bed linen and keep the towels and the everyday load at home. That is the split that makes sense when the machine is already there and working.

Can you take our duvets and pillows?

Some of them. Pillows and single duvets go through where the drum genuinely takes them, and we say at booking rather than after. King and super king duvets and feather duvets of any size we refuse, and the beds in these houses are mostly that size. A duvet that does not move in the drum comes back wet in the middle, which is worse than not washing it. Those go to a launderette with a large machine.

Nobody is in during the day. How does the handover work?

Bag inside the outer porch door for collection, which keeps it dry and off the pavement, and an agreed arrangement for the return. Folded washing can come back the same way. Ironing on hangers cannot, so that either needs somebody in, a neighbour, or a key arrangement agreed in writing beforehand. We would rather set that up once at the start than leave shirts hanging on a door handle in the rain.

Can the same collection carry both a service wash and the ironing?

Yes, but bag them separately and label them, because they are priced differently and they come back at different times. The weight based wash is next day. Ironing is often the day after that, longer in a busy week, and a bag with twenty shirts in it will hold up the whole return if it is mixed in with towels. Two bags, two count sheets, one collection.

Do you cover the whole of West Bridgford?

Yes, all of NG2 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does laundry & ironing cost in West Bridgford?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the weight rather than the item count, whether ironing is included or just washing, and how often we collect. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start laundry & ironing in West Bridgford?

Within a few days to set up a collection day, and after that it runs to the same day each week. Residents' parking on the roads off Musters Road and Melton Road, and we group West Bridgford with Sneinton, Nottingham City Centre and Ruddington on the rota.
