Laundry & Ironing for Cotgrave homes
Two demands out here. Households where the parking is a bay serving a row and nobody is in during the day, and the units on the business park wanting workwear kept off household washing. Oil and grinding dust are where we say no.
Two quite different demands share this round out here. The household side is families where both adults drive out of the village to work, so nobody is in when a bag would be collected and the parking is a bay serving a row rather than a space outside the door. That makes a fixed slot and an agreed place to leave the bag do more work than either would in a street of drives. The other side is the units on the business park, which want workwear kept away from household washing, and that is precisely where the line has to be drawn honestly rather than optimistically. Cotton polo shirts and trade counter uniform, yes. Overalls out of a workshop, no.
Cotgrave sits in NG12, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. The local reference points are Cotgrave Country Park, All Saints' Church, the shopping precinct and the Grantham Canal, which is usually enough for us to find a property without a postcode lookup.
What we run into on Cotgrave laundry & ironing jobs
Workshop clothing is why that separation is not fussiness. Fine metal and grinding dust works down into the weave, and a domestic drum does not lift it out so much as redistribute it, which shows up as pinpoint rust marks on white cotton in the next load or the one after, appearing a week later once the damp has done its work. Oil is worse and simpler: it needs a temperature and a chemistry a domestic machine cannot reach, and what does not wash out stays on the drum seal and goes into somebody else's towels. So overalls, and anything carrying coolant, solvent or paint, are named at the door.
How a Cotgrave laundry & ironing job actually runs
The round runs on a fixed day and a fixed place to leave the bag, and out here the second half of that matters as much as the first. Where a house fronts a footpath with the parking bays behind it, there is no doorstep visible from the van, so a porch with a coded lock or a key safe holds the arrangement far better than a doorbell does. Where there is a drive it is simpler. Either way a slot is a slot rather than a phone call, because the reason a collection costs what it does is that the same streets are done on the same morning and the van is already there. Say at the start whether the return should come back hung or folded, because a hanging return needs somewhere to go that is not the hall floor, and in these houses that usually means a rail in a bedroom rather than anywhere downstairs. For the units on the business park the pattern is different again. Collection and return happen at a counter or a mess room during working hours, with a named person signing the count sheet, rather than at a door with nobody in.
Who books it here
Regular fortnightly cleaning across the estate and the newer houses, deep cleans booked when a property changes hands or when an extension or loft conversion is finished, and carpet extraction more often than most rounds, because a lot of these households have a dog and a country park at the end of the road.
We run Cotgrave on the same round as Edwalton, Keyworth and Gamston.
What we check on every Cotgrave job
Counting is the whole procedure and it earns its keep on a mixed household bag out here. Uniform is where an argument would otherwise begin, because a school polo shirt is the same garment in three sizes across two children, and a work polo is the same again in another colour, so a bag can come back complete and still look wrong to the person unpacking it. Everything goes onto a sheet at the door with a copy left with you, anything already holed, bobbled or missing a button is written down before it leaves the house, and the same sheet is counted back at the return. Where a household asks for it, the fold is by person rather than by type, which costs a few minutes at our end and saves a great deal at yours. Ask any laundry service what their procedure is and what they insure, in writing, before a bag leaves.
What the laundry & ironing covers
A sample of what is included
- Ironing: Steam on the reverse of anything that shines, and a pressing cloth on wool
- Ironing: Collars, cuffs, plackets and yokes done individually rather than in one pass
- Linen, towels and household items: Bed linen sets for lets, HMOs and holiday flats, cycled on a counted rotation
- Linen, towels and household items: Towels washed hot and kept separate from clothing
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full laundry & ironing page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Cotgrave property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What laundry & ironing costs in Cotgrave
Typical UK rates. Washing is priced by weight, ironing by item or by hour, duvets individually. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£2 to £4
Typical cost in Cotgrave. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Service wash, washed, dried and folded, per kg | £2 to £4 |
| Minimum load, or a minimum charge instead | 5 to 8kg, or £15 to £25 |
| Washed, dried and ironed, per kg | £6.50 to £9 |
| Ironing only, per kg | £5.50 to £9 |
| Ironing, per hour | £14 to £20 |
| Shirt, washed and ironed | £1.50 to £3 |
A 6kg bag works out at £12 to £24 on the per kg rate but is usually billed at the £15 to £25 minimum, so that is the realistic floor for a single load. Ironing is the expensive half: washed, dried and ironed runs £6.50 to £9 per kg against £2 to £4 for washing alone, which is why sending shirts priced by the item often works out cheaper than sending a whole bag ironed.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Duvet, single | £14 to £22 |
| Duvet, double | £18 to £27 |
| Duvet, king or super king | £25 to £32 |
| Collection and return, per order | Free to £5 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
We are on the business park. Can you take our staff uniform?
Polo shirts, cotton uniform and office wear on a weekly slot, yes, kept apart from household bags and counted in and out like everything else. What we will not take is workwear carrying oil, coolant, solvent or paint, and that is not a matter of trying harder with it. Those need a launderer with the machine and the waste route to match, and putting them through a domestic drum spoils the following load rather than only the current one.
Can school uniform go in the weekly bag?
Yes, and it is the most common reason households out here take a fixed slot at all, because uniform is needed on the same morning every week. Two things about it. Printed crests and heat transfers should never meet an iron directly, so those are steamed from the reverse of the fabric. Polyester cotton polos come back folded rather than pressed, because pressing flattens the knit and it never looks right again.
Can you fit a collection round the school run?
That is the shape most of this round takes. Bags go out before the morning run and come back on the same day the following week, so nothing has to be handed over in person and nobody waits in for a van. If a slot has to move it moves for the whole street rather than for one house, which is why we would rather agree a day that genuinely works at the start than shuffle it later. Term time and holidays run on the same day.
What actually gets refused when you weigh the bag?
Very little, and it is the same short list every week. Dry clean only labels, and anything with no label left in it at all. Suits and structured jackets. Silk, cashmere and hand wash knitwear. Anything with a broken zip or unsecured trim, because that becomes a tear at spin speed. And king or feather duvets, which need a drum we do not have, so the cover comes and the duvet stays with you. All of it is named at the door rather than discovered at the machine.
Do you cover the whole of Cotgrave?
Yes, all of NG12 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does laundry & ironing cost in Cotgrave?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the weight rather than the item count, whether ironing is included or just washing, and how often we collect. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start laundry & ironing in Cotgrave?
Within a few days to set up a collection day, and after that it runs to the same day each week. Parking is easy compared with the city: drives, garage blocks and rear courts, and we group Cotgrave with Edwalton, Keyworth and Gamston on the rota.
