Domestic Cleaning for Cotgrave homes
Estate houses with repeating footprints, so the quote holds from a description. What varies is what has been fitted since: an original bathroom in one and a full refit next door, and that is where the hours actually go.
The estate went up quickly and to a small number of house types, which is genuinely useful: we can quote a three bedroom here from a description and be right. What we cannot predict is the inside. These houses have been bought, sold and improved individually for decades, so one has the original bathroom with a boxed bath and a screen, and the one attached to it has a walk in shower, a tiled floor and a second toilet downstairs. That is the difference between a straightforward visit and a long one. Most households settle on fortnightly. The ones that move to weekly are usually the ones with hard flooring right through the ground floor, because hard flooring shows a fortnight in a way that carpet hides.
Cotgrave sits in NG12, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. Regular fortnightly cleaning across the estate and the newer houses, deep cleans booked when a property changes hands or when an extension or loft conversion is finished, and carpet extraction more often than most rounds, because a lot of these households have a dog and a country park at the end of the road.
What we run into on Cotgrave domestic cleaning jobs
When these houses were improved the plumbing was rarely rerouted properly, so pipes run on the surface and get boxed in along the wall at skirting height. That boxing is a horizontal ledge about the width of a hand running round the room, usually painted the same colour as the wall, and it disappears. It holds more dust than the skirting does because it sits further out, and it is the first thing that shows in a photograph of a room that has just been cleaned. Behind a toilet, where the boxing carries the soil pipe, it is also where hair and dust bind into something a cloth pushes rather than lifts. It gets vacuumed, then wiped, in that order.
How a Cotgrave domestic cleaning job actually runs
Access here follows a pattern once you know it. A good share of the pit housing sits in short terraces and blocks facing open green, with parking in bays rather than on a drive, so the van is often a walk from the door and the kit comes in on one trip rather than three. Most of these houses also have a rear gate onto a path behind the gardens, which is useful for a bin or a mower and useless to us, because it is the door nobody can find a key for. Keys are the other thing. Households on this estate are more likely than not to be out at work, and the arrangement that holds is a key safe fitted by the front door rather than a neighbour keeping a spare, since a neighbour who is also out turns a booked visit into a wasted one. School hours shape the diary too. Slots between the morning drop off and the middle of the afternoon fill first here, and anything later competes with people getting home, so a regular day and time is worth fixing at the start rather than moving each week.
Who books it here
On the practical side: Parking is easy compared with the city: drives, garage blocks and rear courts. The awkward part is finding the door, because some of the estate houses front onto a footpath with the parking behind, so tell us which side you actually use.
We run Cotgrave on the same round as Edwalton, Keyworth and Gamston.
What we check on every Cotgrave job
The kitchens on this estate are small and the cooker usually sits under a wall unit with a recirculating hood clipped to the bottom of it. That underside is the surface that gets missed, because it is above eye level for most people and out of the light. Grease lands on it as a fine mist rather than a splash, sets into a tacky film that holds dust, and takes a pale unit door a shade darker along its bottom edge without anybody noticing the change happen. The charcoal filter inside the hood is often the one it was fitted with, and a blocked filter pushes more of that mist sideways into the room instead of through it. We take the metal grease filter out and wash it, work on the underside of the unit and the hood housing with a degreaser rather than a general spray, and dry it properly, because a damp greasy surface picks the next lot straight back up.

Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Regular domestic, per hour | £17 to £25 |
| Ironing, per hour | £14 to £20 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Our neighbour has the same house. Why is their quote different?
Because the shell is the same and the fittings are not. A house with the original bathroom and a small kitchen is a quicker visit than the identical house next door with a shower room upstairs, a downstairs toilet and a kitchen extended across the back. Bathrooms and hard floors set the hours, and both of those have been added to on this estate one house at a time. We quote off what is in the property, not the house type.
Can you do something about the laminate? It never looks clean.
Usually, though not always with a mop. Laminate over a solid floor shows every mark because there is no spring in it and the light runs straight along the surface. The fix is less water rather than more: too much and it swells the joints and leaves a film that grabs the next lot of dust. We vacuum the joints properly first, use a damp flat mop rather than a wet one, and change the water before it goes grey.
Nobody is home during the day. How do you get in?
A key safe by the front door is the usual answer and the one that causes the fewest problems. We can work from a held key instead, in which case it is logged against the property, kept away from anything showing the address, and returned when the arrangement ends. Staff are DBS checked either way. What does not work well is a spare left with a neighbour, because a neighbour with a job or a hospital appointment cancels the visit without meaning to.
Can you park close to the house?
Often not right outside, and it makes no difference to the price. Where the parking is in bays serving a row rather than a drive per house, we take a bay if one is free and carry in from there, and we do not block a neighbour or a garage court entrance to save a few steps. Tell us if the property sits behind a green with no vehicle access at all, since that changes what we bring rather than whether we come.
Do you cover the whole of Cotgrave?
Yes, all of NG12 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does domestic cleaning cost in Cotgrave?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start domestic cleaning in Cotgrave?
Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. Parking is easy compared with the city: drives, garage blocks and rear courts, and we group Cotgrave with Edwalton, Keyworth and Gamston on the rota.
