Domestic Cleaning for Bingham homes

New estate houses where the ground floor is one open room and the kitchen sits in the middle of the living space. Cooking film lands on the sofa and dining chairs, not just on the splashback, so the soft furnishings are part of the round.

The new houses on the edges are built to a plan that changes what a regular visit is. The ground floor is one room: kitchen along one wall, a table in the middle and sofas at the far end, with a lantern or bifolds letting light straight across all of it. That means everything coming off a hob lands on soft furnishing rather than staying in a kitchen with a door on it, and it means every mark on the floor is lit from the side. So a visit here spends time on fabric and glass that an older house would spend on separate rooms. The other half of the round is the town centre, older brick, small rooms with doors, and a completely different order of work.

Bingham sits in NG13, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. Handover and snagging cleans on the new plots, which is why after builders work sits alongside the regular rounds here rather than behind them. Deep cleans booked through a house's first winter, when the fabric is still drying and it shows. Fortnightly domestic work in the finished houses, weekly where the whole ground floor is hard flooring.

What we run into on Bingham domestic cleaning jobs

One thing worth knowing about a new house: the tops of the internal doors are often bare. They come primed on the faces and edges you can see, and the top edge is left raw because nobody looks at it, so it is untreated timber sitting at head height in a dusty building. Raw timber holds dust in the grain and it will not take a wet cloth, because water raises the fibre and then it holds more. So door tops here get done dry, with a dusting cloth rather than a damp one, and the same goes for the top of a fitted wardrobe carcase where the board is unfaced.

How a Bingham domestic cleaning job actually runs

Most of the round here works to a rhythm set by the commute. A lot of households leave early for Nottingham or Grantham and are not back until the evening, so the majority of domestic visits happen in an empty house on a held key or a key safe, with a note of what was done left behind rather than a conversation at the door. That puts the weight on the arrangement being settled once and then not changing. Parking decides the rest of it. On the newer estates there is a drive and usually room to pull in, though visitor spaces fill up early and some of the roads are still unadopted and shared with deliveries. Around the Market Place and the older streets there is no off street parking at all, the frontages sit straight onto the pavement, and market mornings take whatever is left, so kit comes in on foot in a single trip and the visit gets timed away from the middle of the morning. Access agreed properly at the start saves far more time than working faster inside the house ever will.

Who books it here

On the practical side: On the newer estates the road is often unadopted and missing from a satnav, so a plot number and a description of the house find us the door faster than a postcode. In the centre, avoid the market place on a market morning.

We run Bingham on the same round as Radcliffe on Trent, Cotgrave and Burton Joyce.

What we check on every Bingham job

The cooker hood explains most of what people call a greasy kitchen. On a lot of the newer houses it does not go outside at all. It pulls through a metal mesh, passes through a charcoal cartridge and blows the air straight back into the room, so everything the filters miss lands again on the units and on the ceiling above the hob. The mesh goes through a dishwasher and comes out clean. The charcoal does not, because washing it destroys what makes it work, and once it is saturated the hood is moving air and doing nothing else. You can read it off the underside of the canopy. A soft tacky film on the metal around the light means the filtration gave up a long while ago. We take the mesh out and degrease it, do the canopy and the housing above it, and tell you when the cartridge is past saving.

What the domestic cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Bedrooms and living areas: Mirrors and glass
  • Kitchen: Sink and taps cleaned and polished
  • Kitchen: Floor swept and mopped
  • Bathrooms: Tiles wiped

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full domestic cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

The cleaner who comes to your Bingham property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.

What domestic cleaning costs in Bingham

Regular domestic cleaning, per visit, at a typical company rate. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£50 to £70

Typical per visit in Bingham. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per visit
1 bed flat£40 to £50
2 bed£50 to £70
3 bed£60 to £80
4 bed£80 to £100
5 bed£100 to £120

A fortnightly clean of a two bedroom home works out around £1,560 to £1,820 a year. Weekly is roughly double.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Regular domestic, per hour£17 to £25
Ironing, per hour£14 to £20

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

The house is new. Should it not need less cleaning?

It needs a different sort. There is no accumulated grease and no old grout, which helps, and there is building dust still coming out of the structure, wet trades still drying, and a lot of unsealed board and raw timber in places you do not see. A new house also has more glass and more hard floor than an older one of the same size, and both of those show every visit rather than hiding a week.

Our kitchen is in the living room. Does that change the visit?

It changes where the time goes. With no door between the hob and the sofa, cooking aerosol carries into the room and settles on fabric, lampshades and the television screen instead of stopping at a kitchen wall. It builds slowly and evenly, which is why people notice it as a room looking tired rather than as grease. So an open plan ground floor gets the upholstery brushed and the glass done more often than a house with separate rooms would.

We are both out at work all day. How do you get in?

Most houses on the round are empty when we arrive, so this is the normal arrangement rather than an exception. It is usually a key safe by the door or a key held for you, agreed and recorded before the first visit, with the code changed whenever you want it changed. Our cleaners are DBS checked, and the same person comes each time wherever the schedule allows, because somebody who knows where things live works quicker and notices when something is not right.

Ours is one of the older houses near the centre. Does that take longer than a new one?

Usually yes, for the same floor area. Older property here means separate rooms with doors on them, a narrower stair, deeper skirtings, picture rails, painted window boards and a lot of timber that all hold dust in a way a flat modern surface does not. There is generally more furniture standing on more floor covering too. It is not harder work, it is more surfaces per room, so we set the time against a walk round rather than against a bedroom count.

Do you cover the whole of Bingham?

Yes, all of NG13 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does domestic cleaning cost in Bingham?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start domestic cleaning in Bingham?

Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. On the newer estates the road is often unadopted and missing from a satnav, so a plot number and a description of the house find us the door faster than a postcode, and we group Bingham with Radcliffe on Trent, Cotgrave and Burton Joyce on the rota.
