Water has been in this house before. Does that change what you do?
It changes the order of work. Silt dries hard into the joints of a solid floor and along the underside of replacement skirting, so those get vacuumed dry before anything wet goes near them. A smell that returns whenever the room warms up is in the fabric of the building rather than on its surfaces, and cleaning it again will not shift it. We are not restoration contractors and we say so when that is what a job needs.
