Mattress Cleaning for Burton Joyce homes
Bungalow bedrooms with adjustable frames, foam and one sided pillowtops, almost all of it labelled spot clean, so the work is low moisture from the start. In the older houses a beam or a low ceiling means the mattress cannot be stood on edge.
Bungalows are a large part of the housing here and they change what is in the bedroom. A good number are lived in by people who downsized into them, and the beds follow: adjustable frames with a motor under the base, pressure relieving foam and latex, and one sided pillowtops that were never meant to be turned. Almost all of that is labelled spot clean, which rules out extraction and makes this a low moisture job from the start. The cottages and older semis are the opposite, sprung mattresses that have been turned for years, in rooms where a beam or a sloping ceiling means the mattress cannot be stood on its edge to work on the far face. Either way the bed is cleaned where it lies.
Burton Joyce sits in NG14, under Gedling Borough Council. The far eastern end of what we cover, out past Gedling on the A612. Visits here are batched onto one run rather than dropped wherever they happen to fall in the week, so the day gets fixed early and stays fixed. The distance decides the day, not what the visit costs.
What we run into on Burton Joyce mattress cleaning jobs
An adjustable bed repays a proper look, because it has features a flat bed does not. The mattress bends at the knee and at the shoulder, and those two hinge lines are where skin, crumbs and hair collect, held inside a fold that closes again every time the bed is raised. The head end is the other one, since the mattress creeps back as the section lifts and a gap opens at the top of the base for everything on the surface to travel into. Underneath, the motor housing and its cable sit in still air no vacuum has reached. We raise the bed on its own controls to open the folds and get at the platform.
How a Burton Joyce mattress cleaning job actually runs
The bed stays in the room, so the room has to be workable. We need it stripped before we arrive, enough clear space for two people to pass down each side, and a socket free for air movement afterwards. In a bungalow that is usually straightforward. In the older houses the bedrooms are smaller than the bed suggests and a wardrobe door will not open once we are alongside it, so say which side is tight when you book. Timing matters more here than it does for most of our work. A mattress is not slept on until it is dry, so a morning slot on the day we run out this way leaves the whole afternoon for it, and a late booking does not. In winter we ask for the room to be heated as normal that day and the door left open rather than the window, because moving warm house air through it does more than cold air off the garden. Where the bed is only used when family come to stay, book it a week before they arrive rather than the day before.
Who books it here
The housing here is mostly older cottages and larger detached houses along the main road near the church, interwar and postwar semis on the streets behind them, and modern closes on the higher ground away from the water, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
We run Burton Joyce on the same round as Gedling, Netherfield and Carlton.
What we check on every Burton Joyce job
Storage bases hold the second half of the job. A divan with drawers stands flat on the floor with no gap under it, so nothing has ever been vacuumed beneath the bed, and the drawers have become the place things go in a house where the loft is a ladder and a hatch. Pull them out and there are two finds every time. Along the runner channels sits a compacted line of hair, dust and grit that jams the drawer long before anybody thinks to clean it, and on the top platform of the base, under the mattress, there is a grey layer that fell through the mattress rather than landing on it. Neither is reachable with the bed made up. The third one is the wall behind a fabric headboard, which takes hair oil at head height and is the mark people notice last.
What the mattress cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- The rest of the bed: The gap behind and under the bed, which nothing reaches once the frame is in place
- The rest of the bed: Skirting and the wall line behind the headboard
- The rest of the bed: Protector or topper handled, washed or refitted as the label allows
- The mattress itself: Label and construction checked before anything is applied
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full mattress cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What mattress cleaning costs in Burton Joyce
Mattress cleaning, priced by bed size. A mattress added to a carpet booking costs less, because the call-out is already covered. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£40 to £70
Typical per mattress in Burton Joyce. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per mattress |
|---|---|
| Minimum call-out | £60 to £90 |
| Cot or child's mattress | £15 to £30 |
| Single | £25 to £45 |
| Double | £40 to £70 |
| King | £50 to £85 |
| Super king | £60 to £100 |
One mattress on its own is priced at the minimum call-out, not at the size row in the table, because the visit costs the same whether it cleans one bed or four. Two or three mattresses in a single booking is the point at which the per mattress rate starts to apply.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Divan base or headboard, each | £25 to £50 |
| Set stain treatment, per area | £10 to £30 |
| Deodorising treatment | £10 to £25 |
| Second and later mattresses, same visit | 20% to 30% less each |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Ours is memory foam on an adjustable base. What can you actually do with it?
Vacuum both faces and every seam with a filtered machine, treat the soiling with a matched product and proper dwell time, agitate at low moisture and dry it with air movement. What we will not do is extract, because foam holds water in the middle where nothing reaches it and the label says so for good reason. Marks lighten rather than clear on foam more often than on a sprung mattress, and you get that verdict before we start rather than after.
It is a one sided mattress and we have never turned it. Is that a problem?
No, and turning it would be. A one sided pillowtop has the comfort layer on one face only, so flipping it puts you on the base construction. Both faces still get vacuumed, since the underside collects whatever falls through, and the sides, the piping and the handles carry more than people expect. Rotating it end to end every few months is the thing to do instead, and on a king it takes two people.
How long before we can make the bed up again?
Touch dry within a couple of hours on a low moisture clean, and made up that evening if the room has been warm and the air has been moving. We put in fewer wet passes than a carpet would take for exactly this reason. What you should not do is put a waterproof protector back on before the mattress is properly dry, because it holds in whatever is left in the surface, and that is how a smell starts rather than how it stops.
The spare room is used twice a year. Is it worth doing?
It is often the one most worth doing, because a bed that is stripped, made up for a weekend and then left is never aired in between. Book it a week ahead of the visit rather than the morning of it, so the room and the mattress both have time to dry properly. While we are there the base, the headboard and the floor under the bed get done as well, which is what makes a spare room smell different rather than merely look tidy.
Do you cover the whole of Burton Joyce?
Yes, all of NG14 and the surrounding streets, under Gedling Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does mattress cleaning cost in Burton Joyce?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how many mattresses go in one visit, the bed sizes, and whether anything needs treating rather than just extracting. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start mattress cleaning in Burton Joyce?
Within a week, and we would rather bring it alongside a carpet booking than make a separate journey for one bed. Drives on most properties, so space is rarely the problem, and we group Burton Joyce with Gedling, Netherfield and Carlton on the rota.
