Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning for Bingham homes
New estate carpet is usually polypropylene laid over a screed that is still giving up moisture. It cleans well and it dries slowly, so the pass is drier and the dwell shorter than on an old floor with a void beneath it.
Almost all the carpet on the new estates is polypropylene, and it behaves differently from the wool you find in an older house. It will take a bleach solution without losing colour, which sounds like an advantage and is the reason people scrub it with the wrong thing. What it does not tolerate is oil, because the fibre is oil loving, so anything greasy binds into it and any residue left behind by a detergent becomes a magnet that pulls dirt back within weeks. That is why a carpet here can look worse a month after cleaning than it did before. The answer is rinsing properly rather than cleaning harder, and keeping the chemistry light in the first place.
Bingham sits in NG13, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly older brick and a little stone round the market place, Victorian and interwar streets behind it, postwar semis further out, and very large estates of new houses still going up on every edge, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Bingham carpet & upholstery cleaning jobs
The ground outside is the other half of it. Gardens on a recently finished plot are subsoil under a skin of turf, and around here that subsoil is heavy clay, which does not brush off and does not stay on a mat. It arrives as a smear rather than as grit, dries pale, and greys the pile from the base upwards so the carpet looks flat before it looks dirty. New plots also funnel everybody through one door, because the side gate and the second path are not built yet, so the whole household's traffic lands in one strip from the hall to the stairs and that strip ages years ahead of the rest of the room.
How a Bingham carpet & upholstery cleaning job actually runs
Two things decide when carpet work can happen here, drying and access. A properly extracted carpet comes up damp rather than wet and wants moving air and a bit of warmth to finish the job, which is easy in a house with the heating on and awkward in autumn in a property nobody is living in. So an occupied house gets booked for a day when somebody can leave the heating running and stay off the traffic lane for the evening, and an empty one gets booked with the drying time built into the handover date instead of assumed. Access is the other half. Extraction needs a socket in the room and somewhere to fill and dump, and on the newer estates that is straightforward, because there is a drive, an outside tap and a cloakroom downstairs. In the older streets near the centre there is nowhere to leave a van close to the door, so the machine runs off internal fill and the hoses have to reach further, which takes longer to set up than the cleaning itself takes to do. Furniture is worth moving before we arrive wherever it can be.
Who books it here
Handover and snagging cleans on the new plots, which is why after builders work sits alongside the regular rounds here rather than behind them. Deep cleans booked through a house's first winter, when the fabric is still drying and it shows. Fortnightly domestic work in the finished houses, weekly where the whole ground floor is hard flooring.
We run Bingham on the same round as Radcliffe on Trent, Cotgrave and Burton Joyce.
What we check on every Bingham job
The arms and the headrest of a sofa are not dirty in the way the seat is. What sits on them is body oil and hair product, which goes on invisibly and shows up as a darker sheen rather than as a mark, and water on its own will not touch it because oil and water do not mix. It wants a solvent or a proper pre spray with dwell time, and then it releases in one go. The mistake that follows is overwetting. Push too much moisture into a foam cushion and the soil travels down into the fill with it, then as the cushion dries from the outside in the water carries that soil back up to the surface and leaves a ring the following day that was not there when we packed up. That is why cushions get worked in controlled passes with air moving over them rather than soaked and left to hope.
What the carpet & upholstery cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Upholstery: Cleaned panel by panel so no drying edge shows
- Upholstery: Embedded hair lifted with a rubber brush
- Upholstery: Vacuumed with an upholstery tool, including down the sides and under cushions
- Upholstery: Care label checked for the W, S, WS or X code before anything is applied
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full carpet & upholstery cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Bingham property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What carpet & upholstery cleaning costs in Bingham
Hot water extraction, priced by room or by property. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£35 to £60
Typical one-off in Bingham. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Minimum call-out | £60 to £90 |
| Single room | £35 to £60 |
| Hallway, stairs and landing | £45 to £85 |
| 2 bed flat, throughout | £75 to £175 |
| 3 bed house, throughout | £140 to £260 |
| 4 bed house, throughout | £200 to £350 |
Stairs are priced separately from rooms because they are slow and cannot be done with a standard wand.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Upholstery, 3 seat sofa | £45 to £90 |
| Mattress clean | £30 to £60 |
| Pet urine treatment, per spot | £15 to £40 |
| Rug, per square metre | £8 to £20 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Why does our carpet get dirty again so quickly after cleaning?
Nine times out of ten it is residue rather than new dirt. Polypropylene holds onto detergent, and detergent left in the pile stays sticky and grabs everything walked over it, so the traffic lane comes back within a month looking worse than the rest of the room. It is a rinsing problem, not a cleaning power problem. If a previous clean or a supermarket shampoo has left residue in there, the fix is a rinse pass with no more chemistry added.
How soon after moving into a new house should the carpets be done?
Not immediately, unless something has been spilt. A carpet fitted a few months ago has not got dirt in it yet, it has fitting debris and loose fibre, and that wants vacuuming repeatedly rather than extracting. The point to book is after the first winter, once the garden has been walked in and out through a wet season and the traffic lane has started to show. Doing it before the grit has worked in is what protects the fibre.
How long before we can use the room again?
Walkable within a couple of hours in a warm room, and dry through by that evening if the heating is on and the air is moving. It takes longer in an unheated empty house, and longer again in damp weather with the windows shut. If you have to cross a damp carpet, do it in clean socks rather than shoes or bare feet, and keep pets off until it is dry through, because a damp pile takes up whatever it gets walked on with.
Can the sofa be done where it stands, and should the covers come off?
In place is normal, we just need room to work round it and something under the feet while it dries. Covers usually stay on. Zips on a modern sofa are there for the manufacturer rather than for washing, and a cover that has been through a machine can shrink enough that it will not go back over the foam. We check the label under the seat, test a hidden area for colour movement, and say so beforehand if the fabric will not take a water based clean.
Do you cover the whole of Bingham?
Yes, all of NG13 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does carpet & upholstery cleaning cost in Bingham?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the room count, whether stairs are included, the fibre type, and whether there is pet urine to treat. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start carpet & upholstery cleaning in Bingham?
Within a week usually, and we would rather do it alongside a deep clean than as a separate visit. On the newer estates the road is often unadopted and missing from a satnav, so a plot number and a description of the house find us the door faster than a postcode, and we group Bingham with Radcliffe on Trent, Cotgrave and Burton Joyce on the rota.
