End of Tenancy Cleaning for Mapperley Park homes
Many of these villas are let as flats carved out of one or two floors, so the inventory covers original features you did not choose and cannot alter. You are judged on their cleanliness, never on their age.
Two quite different tenancies exist on the same street. One is a whole house let to a family, usually by an owner who has moved away rather than by a landlord who bought to let, and the schedule for it runs to pages because the furniture is theirs. The other is a flat carved out of one or two floors of a villa and let to professionals, where the tenant inherits original features they had no say in: a fireplace nobody has lit, a stripped floor, a tall stair window, cornice they cannot reach. A clerk photographs all of it at check in. What matters at check out is that you answer for how clean those things are and not for how old they are, which is worth knowing before you start scrubbing something you cannot improve.
Mapperley Park sits in NG3, under Nottingham City Council. Regular domestic help in houses nobody can keep on top of around a working week, usually a longer visit less often rather than a short weekly one. Deep cleans before Christmas and in early spring. Carpet and upholstery work runs high, because two flights of stairs and rooms of this size take the wear a whole terrace would spread out.
What we run into on Mapperley Park end of tenancy cleaning jobs
Original stripped floorboards in a converted flat are where the arguments start. The gaps between boards hold years of grit and hair, a vacuum takes the surface of it and leaves the rest, and a wet mop pushes the dirt down into the gap while swelling the board edges. What works is a crevice tool run along every gap first, then a barely damp mop with a neutral cleaner. Where the boards were waxed rather than varnished, a wet mop strips the wax in patches, and a clerk photographs that as a mark on the floor rather than as evidence of cleaning.
How a Mapperley Park end of tenancy cleaning job actually runs
Timing is the part that goes wrong most often here, because three separate diaries have to line up: yours, the removal firm's and the inventory clerk's. The clean has to come after the last of the furniture leaves and before the clerk arrives, and in a tall house with no lift the removal itself runs longer than anybody allows for, so a same day sequence rarely works. Book the clean for the day after the van, with the check out the morning after that. Two practical items decide whether we can finish. First, the utilities have to still be on: no hot water and no working sockets means no clean, and a supply switched off early to save on the final bill costs far more than it saves. Second, the parts of the letting that are not rooms have to be emptied first, which in these houses means a cellar, a loft hatch, a garden store and often a shed that came with the tenancy. Cleaning around a cellar full of belongings is not possible.
Who books it here
Scale is the first problem and fragility is the second. These are houses with a full top floor built for live-in staff, so a visit that would cover a semi covers one floor here. Original joinery, tiled paths and cast iron grates then decide which products can go anywhere near them.
We run Mapperley Park on the same round as Mapperley, Sherwood and St Ann's.
What we check on every Mapperley Park job
The cooker is the single item most likely to fail a check out here, because in these kitchens it usually stands in the recess left by the old range chimney. That recess has a side wall either side and a lintel over it, all within a hand's width of the hob, so grease from years of cooking has been baked onto three surfaces nobody has ever wiped. The cooker itself sits on a flexible gas hose or a fixed cable, which limits how far forward it comes, and the floor behind it is where crumbs, foil and a spoon have collected. We pull it as far as the connection safely allows, clean the recess sides and the lintel as well as the appliance, and leave the gap behind it visibly clear, because that is exactly where a clerk puts the torch.
What the end of tenancy cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Kitchen: Fridge and freezer defrosted and washed, left off with doors ajar
- Throughout: Skirting boards, door tops, light fittings and radiators
- Kitchen: Sink, taps and overflow descaled, bin cleaned inside and out
- Throughout: All floors vacuumed and mopped
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full end of tenancy cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Mapperley Park property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What end of tenancy cleaning costs in Mapperley Park

| Stairs and landing carpet | £45 to £85 |
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The flat has an original fireplace and cornice. Are we responsible for those?
For their cleanliness, yes. For their condition, no. A grate that was rusty at check in stays rusty and a chipped cornice stays chipped, because you are compared against the check in report with an allowance for fair wear and tear. What a clerk looks at is soot and dust: the ledge of the mantel, the tiled cheeks either side of the opening, and whether the cornice has been dusted or has carried a fur of it all tenancy.
We rent the top two floors only. Does the shared hall count as ours?
Usually not, and it is worth confirming in writing before check out rather than after. In most converted villas the entrance hall, the main stair and the bin store belong to the freeholder and are cleaned under the service charge, so your responsibility starts at your own front door. Where the letting includes a private stair running up to your flat, that is yours, and it is the item forgotten most often because it does not feel like a room.
The check out is booked for the morning. When should we clean?
The day before, with the property already empty. A clean finished hours before a clerk walks in still looks fresh, whereas a clean squeezed in on the morning itself means wet floors, a warm oven and somebody still carrying boxes past a done room. It also leaves a margin: if something turns up that needs longer, a limescaled shower screen or a badly marked hob, there is an evening to deal with it instead of a clerk waiting at the door.
The cellar and the garden store are full of our things. Is that our problem?
Yes, and it is worth acting on early. If the cellar, the loft or an outside store formed part of your letting, they appear on the inventory and they are checked, so anything left in them is recorded as your leaving. Clearing them also takes longer than expected because the contents have usually been there since you moved in. Empty them before the clean rather than after it, so the floors down there can actually be swept and the shelving wiped.
Do you cover the whole of Mapperley Park?
Yes, all of NG3 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does end of tenancy cleaning cost in Mapperley Park?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is property size, whether it will be empty, the oven's honest condition, and whether carpets are included. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start end of tenancy cleaning in Mapperley Park?
One to two weeks normally, three weeks between late June and August when tenancies across Nottingham end together. Most houses have a drive, often gravel and often shared between flats, so we ask which space is yours rather than guessing, and we group Mapperley Park with Mapperley, Sherwood and St Ann's on the rota.
