Mattress Cleaning for Bramcote homes

Owner occupiers rather than lets, so the beds have been in the same rooms for years. The front bedroom takes a king, the back bedroom sits in tree shade and stays cool, and drying is what decides when the job can happen.

Beds here belong to households rather than to landlords, which changes what the booking is for. A mattress in a let gets cleaned because somebody is leaving. A mattress in a family house on this hill gets cleaned because it has been slept on for a decade and nothing has ever been done to it beyond turning it, and whoever rings has usually just noticed something rather than reached a deadline. Bedroom sizes follow the rest of the stock: two proper doubles and a small third room, with the front bedroom over the bay taking a king comfortably and the third taking a single and very little else. Size matters here for the drying rather than for anything else, because a king holds more moisture than a double and the drying is the part that governs your evening.

Bramcote sits in NG9, under Broxtowe Borough Council. The hill shapes everything. Plots step up from the pavement, so the rear elevation is often a storey higher than the front, and the ground is free draining sandstone rather than clay, which changes what gets walked in and how it comes back out of a carpet.

What we run into on Bramcote mattress cleaning jobs

The underside is where the surprise is. A mattress that has sat on a solid divan platform in a rear bedroom, against a cool outside wall and under canopy that keeps the sun off that side of the house, frequently shows grey spotting along the base seam and across the face nobody ever looks at. That is surface mould from condensation rather than staining, and it comes of air never moving underneath. Slatted frames breathe and rarely show it. Solid platforms do not breathe at all. We turn the mattress over before quoting, because the face that decides the method is generally the one that has been pointing at the base since delivery day.

How a Bramcote mattress cleaning job actually runs

Drying governs this booking, so it governs the diary as well. We want a dry day and an early start, with the bedding already stripped and in the machine rather than coming off while we stand there. Heating stays on low rather than off, and the window gets opened, though the rear bedrooms on this hill sit under canopy and simply do not warm the way a front room does, so where there is a choice the sunniest room gets worked first and the shaded one gets the rest of the day to itself. Floor space is the other constraint people underestimate. Both faces and all four sides are done, which means standing the mattress on edge, and a bedroom with fitted wardrobes along one wall and a bay in the other has less clear floor than its measurements suggest. Pulling the bed away from the wall for the morning solves that. Expect the bed to be out of use for the evening, and if there is only one made up bed in the house, say so at booking so the work starts early enough for it to matter.

Who books it here

The housing here is mostly interwar and postwar semis and detached houses spread across the hill, on larger plots than the streets below, with 1960s and 1970s builds stepped into the slope and mature trees over most of it, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

We run Bramcote on the same round as Beeston, Chilwell and Stapleford.

What we check on every Bramcote job

The third bedroom takes the longest for its size. In these houses it is a small room over the stairs or over the hall, and a bed in it touches two walls and sometimes three, so it has only ever been lifted in one direction and the long sides have had no air across them since the day it went in. Those sides carry the piping, the handles and the vents, and they are the part of a mattress a domestic vacuum never reaches at all, because an upright cannot be tipped onto its edge and a hose attachment stops where the top face stops. What comes out of that seam is dust and skin rather than anything dramatic, but the volume is what surprises people, and it is why a small mattress in a small room is not a small job. The bed gets pulled clear of the walls and all four sides worked before anything else happens.

What the mattress cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Stains and odour: Mineral tidemarks from perspiration treated separately from the body oils beside them
  • The mattress itself: More dry passes than wet ones, so less water goes in than a carpet would take
  • The mattress itself: Colourfast test in a hidden area, usually along the base seam
  • The rest of the bed: The gap behind and under the bed, which nothing reaches once the frame is in place

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full mattress cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What mattress cleaning costs in Bramcote

Mattress cleaning, priced by bed size. A mattress added to a carpet booking costs less, because the call-out is already covered. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£40 to £70

Typical per mattress in Bramcote. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per mattress
Minimum call-out£60 to £90
Cot or child's mattress£15 to £30
Single£25 to £45
Double£40 to £70
King£50 to £85
Super king£60 to £100

One mattress on its own is priced at the minimum call-out, not at the size row in the table, because the visit costs the same whether it cleans one bed or four. Two or three mattresses in a single booking is the point at which the per mattress rate starts to apply.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Divan base or headboard, each£25 to £50
Set stain treatment, per area£10 to £30
Deodorising treatment£10 to £25
Second and later mattresses, same visit20% to 30% less each

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

The spare bed is slept in a few times a year. Is there any point?

There is, though not for the reason people assume. The problem in a rarely used room is not soiling, it is a cool room with the door shut and no air moving through it, which leaves the mattress smelling of the room rather than of anybody. Vacuuming both faces, treating the surface and getting air across it deals with exactly that, and it is a much shorter visit than a bed in daily use. Book it alongside another bed rather than on its own.

Can it be cleaned on the morning guests arrive?

No, and we would rather turn the work down than agree to it. A mattress needs hours of air across it before anybody lies down on it, longer in a rear room that gets no sun at all, and putting a fitted sheet over a surface still cool to the touch simply traps what is left underneath. Give the bed a clear day, and two if the room is shaded and the weather is heavy. The drying sets the timetable, not the cleaning.

Does the bed have to be taken apart?

Not usually. The mattress comes off the base and is stood on edge in the room, the base top and sides are vacuumed and spot cleaned where it is a divan, and everything goes back the same afternoon. What we need is enough clear floor to stand a king mattress upright without it leaning on a wardrobe door, so a bedside table may have to go out to the landing for a couple of hours. Two part divan bases stay linked unless there is a reason to split them.

How long before the bed can be made up again?

Give it the rest of the day, and longer for a rear room that gets no direct sun. Less water goes into a mattress than into a carpet, and there are more dry passes than wet ones, but a mattress cannot be lifted and aired the way a rug can, so what is left has to leave through the surface. Air movement matters more than heat. A window open a little with the door open too does more than a radiator turned up and everything shut.

Do you cover the whole of Bramcote?

Yes, all of NG9 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does mattress cleaning cost in Bramcote?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how many mattresses go in one visit, the bed sizes, and whether anything needs treating rather than just extracting. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start mattress cleaning in Bramcote?

Within a week, and we would rather bring it alongside a carpet booking than make a separate journey for one bed. Drives on most properties, which is just as well, because the lanes on the hill are narrow, and we group Bramcote with Beeston, Chilwell and Stapleford on the rota.
