Carpet & Upholstery Cleaning for Bramcote homes
Free draining ground off the hill sends in dry pale sand rather than clay mud. Wetting it first is the wrong order, so the dry stage here is long and the wet stage only starts once the machine stops filling.
What comes in off these gardens is not mud. The hill drains onto sandstone, so the soil is pale, sandy and free draining, and it arrives dry and stays dry. That changes the method more than it changes the outcome. Wetting dry sand first is the wrong order and it is exactly what gets done at home: water turns loose grit into something bonded to the fibre, and then chemistry is needed to take out what suction would have removed for nothing. So the first stage here is dry and it is long. A pile lifter or a counter rotating brush brings the sand up out of the base, then it gets vacuumed until the machine stops filling, and only after that does anything wet go down.
Bramcote sits in NG9, under Broxtowe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly interwar and postwar semis and detached houses spread across the hill, on larger plots than the streets below, with 1960s and 1970s builds stepped into the slope and mature trees over most of it, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Bramcote carpet & upholstery cleaning jobs
West facing rooms produce the conversation we have most often. A bay or a patio door on the sunset side of the hill throws a band of direct light across the same metre of carpet every evening for years, and that band fades. It reads as a dirty patch, it is the first thing anybody points at, and extraction cannot change it, because there is nothing sitting on the fibre to remove. We look for it before quoting rather than discovering it halfway through. The same light does the same to one arm of a sofa parked in it, which is why half a suite is often noticeably paler than the other half.
How a Bramcote carpet & upholstery cleaning job actually runs
The practical questions come first. The machine works from the van, so a hose run comes in through the front door or across the drive, and on a plot that climbs from the road that run is longer than it looks. We carry the length for it, but the front door has to stay ajar while the work goes on, which people would rather know beforehand than discover in January. Furniture is the second question. We move what two people can shift safely and put protectors under the feet as it goes back, but a loaded bookcase, a piano or a sofa bed stays where it is, so decide in advance whether the carpet underneath matters to you. Drying is the third. A through lounge with the heating on and a window cracked open is walkable the same evening and properly dry the next day, and that goes faster in summer than in a house shut up all week in February. Book the stairs and landing for a day when nobody has to carry a toddler or a laundry basket up them.
Who books it here
Fortnightly domestic rounds in houses with more ground floor than their bedroom count implies, deep cleans bought room by room because half the house is already fine and the other half has had a light pass for years, and window work on both sides of the glass on elevations that take driven rain all winter.
We run Bramcote on the same round as Beeston, Chilwell and Stapleford.
What we check on every Bramcote job
The dark line along the skirting is the one that surprises people. In houses with suspended timber floors, air gets drawn up through the gap at the edge of the boards and out through the carpet, and the pile works as the filter, so a grey band builds along the skirting board, under the closed door of the front room and against the bottom stair riser. It is not a spillage and it is not neglect. It needs different handling from ordinary soiling as well: a solvent based pre spray, real dwell time and hand agitation right into the edge rather than another pass of the wand over the middle of the room. It also returns, because the draught that made it is still there, so sealing the gap behind the skirting does more good than any cleaning interval will.
What the carpet & upholstery cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Upholstery: Cleaned panel by panel so no drying edge shows
- Carpets: Thorough dry vacuum first
- Upholstery: Vacuumed with an upholstery tool, including down the sides and under cushions
- Also covered: Pet urine, with enzymatic pre-treatment and extra dwell time
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full carpet & upholstery cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What carpet & upholstery cleaning costs in Bramcote
Hot water extraction, priced by room or by property. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£35 to £60
Typical one-off in Bramcote. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Minimum call-out | £60 to £90 |
| Single room | £35 to £60 |
| Hallway, stairs and landing | £45 to £85 |
| 2 bed flat, throughout | £75 to £175 |
| 3 bed house, throughout | £140 to £260 |
| 4 bed house, throughout | £200 to £350 |
Stairs are priced separately from rooms because they are slow and cannot be done with a standard wand.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Upholstery, 3 seat sofa | £45 to £90 |
| Mattress clean | £30 to £60 |
| Pet urine treatment, per spot | £15 to £40 |
| Rug, per square metre | £8 to £20 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Would vacuuming more at home fix it?
It helps more here than on heavier soil, and still will not reach everything. Dry sand falls through the pile and settles against the backing, and a domestic upright pulls from the surface rather than agitating down to it. A slow pass in two directions along the traffic route lifts far more than a quick pass over the whole house. What it cannot do is retrieve what is already at the base, which is what the dry stage of a professional clean is for.
Should the upholstery be done at the same time?
Not automatically, but a sofa in a west facing room is worth looking at while we are there. Fabric sitting in direct light for years loses strength as well as colour, so a suite faded down one side is usually weaker down that side too, and it wants lower moisture and a gentler tool than the shaded half. An unseen panel gets tested first. If the fabric has gone fragile we will say so and clean it conservatively rather than risk it.
How soon can the furniture go back?
Walk on it in socks the same evening, put light pieces back the following day, and leave anything heavy until the pile is dry all the way down to the backing. Metal or dark wood feet standing on damp carpet can leave a mark far harder to shift than whatever we came to remove, which is why protectors go under the feet in the first place. In winter, heating on and a window slightly open, allow noticeably longer than you would in summer.
Do we have to empty the room first?
No, and it is rarely worth the effort. We move what two people can lift safely, clean underneath it, and work up to and around whatever stays, which for most rooms means all the carpet anybody ever sees gets done. If the sofa is a bed, the bookcase is full or a piano sits against the wall, mention it when you book rather than on the day, because emptying those is your decision and it changes how long the room takes.
Do you cover the whole of Bramcote?
Yes, all of NG9 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does carpet & upholstery cleaning cost in Bramcote?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the room count, whether stairs are included, the fibre type, and whether there is pet urine to treat. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start carpet & upholstery cleaning in Bramcote?
Within a week usually, and we would rather do it alongside a deep clean than as a separate visit. Drives on most properties, which is just as well, because the lanes on the hill are narrow, and we group Bramcote with Beeston, Chilwell and Stapleford on the rota.
