Oven Cleaning for Kimberley homes

Three cooker positions in one small town. The terraces stand a freestanding cooker in the recess where the range once was, with brickwork close on either side. The interwar semis run a single under the worktop. The estate kitchens have an eye level double.

Where the cooker sits decides this job here, and it changes with the street. In the terraces climbing away from the centre the kitchen is the old back room, and the cooker stands free in the recess where the range once was, with brickwork close on either side. Nothing on that appliance can be reached until it comes forward, so the first part of the visit is spent making room rather than cleaning. The interwar semis along Nottingham Road usually run a built in single under the worktop, which is the simplest version of the job. The estate kitchens are a third case again: an eye level double in a tall housing, a separate hob and a canopy above it, which is three appliances to quote rather than one.

Kimberley sits in NG16, under Broxtowe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly red brick terraces on the streets climbing away from the town centre, interwar semis along Nottingham Road, and estates from the 1970s onward filling the gaps out toward the A610, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on Kimberley oven cleaning jobs

Easing a freestanding cooker out of a recess is where the time goes in a terrace, and where the job is worth having. The two side panels have never been cleaned because nobody has ever seen them, and the face turned toward the brickwork carries a hard brown film baked on by years of standing against something warm. The floor underneath is worse, tacky rather than greasy, with crumbs set into it. The recess wall is the surprise for most people: the paint above the hob line comes back several shades lighter under a cloth and shows exactly how far splatter travels sideways. All of that happens while the cooker is out, because it is only out once.

How a Kimberley oven cleaning job actually runs

The appliance stays in your kitchen and the parts come out to the van, so the distance between the two is the only access question that matters. On the estates the van sits on the drive and the racks travel a few steps. On the terraced rows we may be parked several doors down and on the opposite side, so trays, runners, the grill pan and the fan cover go out in a covered carrier rather than dripping along a public footway, and we ask where we can set down inside while that happens. If the front door is up a flight from the pavement, tell us, because it decides how many trips it is. The other constraint is temperature. The oven has to be stone cold before anything is applied, which in practice means not used the evening before, so a household that cooks late is better booked for the afternoon than for nine in the morning. Anything at Christmas wants booking weeks ahead rather than days, since that is when everybody in the county looks properly through the door glass for the first time in a year.

Who books it here

On the practical side: Kerbside parking on the terraced streets, with the town centre itself pinched at lunchtime. The estates have drives and it is straightforward. Tell us if you are on a slope with steps up from the pavement, since that alters what we can wheel in.

We run Kimberley on the same round as Nuthall, Stapleford and Bilborough.

What we check on every Kimberley job

In the estate kitchens the eye level double tells you how the household actually cooks. The lower cavity is the fan oven and does the everyday work, so its soil is thin and fairly even. The upper one gets used as a grill, and grilling throws fat upward, so the roof of that cavity and the underside of the element carry the heaviest deposit in the whole kitchen while the shelf below them looks nearly clean. The housing is the second half of it. A tall unit built around two appliances leaves a gap at each side and a vent above, and warm greasy air rises through that gap and settles on the inside edge of the cupboard door next to it, which nobody wipes because nobody thinks of it as a kitchen surface. We do the fascia, the trim, the reachable housing sides and that door edge, and we leave the vent clear rather than packed.

What the oven cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Ceramic and induction: burnt sugar and boil-over taken off with a blade held flat, then polished
  • How the job is left: Everything reassembled in the right order, including the glass, and the door checked for closure
  • Hobs, extractors and microwaves, each priced as its own item: Gas hobs: burner caps, crowns, pan supports and the tray underneath, all soaked separately
  • How the job is left: The housing the oven sits in, and the plinth below it

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What oven cleaning costs in Kimberley

Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

£45 to £80

Typical per appliance in Kimberley. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

PropertyTypical per appliance
Single oven£45 to £80
Double oven, or oven and separate grill£70 to £110
Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm£80 to £130
Aga or heat storage cooker£100 to £200
Hob, gas or ceramic£10 to £30
Extractor hood£15 to £30

The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Microwave£15 to £30
Extra grill pan or set of racks£5 to £10
Heavy soiling, an oven left for years£20 to £30 on top
Several appliances in one visitUsually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

The cooker is wedged in the old chimney recess. Can you get behind it?

Usually, and we check before we start rather than after. A freestanding electric cooker normally has enough cable at the connection point to come forward far enough to work down both sides, and a gas one depends on the slack in the hose. We ease it out on the flooring rather than dragging it, and if the recess is a tight fit or the floor covering will tear, we say so and clean what can be reached instead.

There is no worktop free in our kitchen. Where do the racks go?

Out to the van, into heated solution, which is the point of booking the oven as its own job rather than as part of a general clean. Nothing needs to sit on your worktop and nothing soaks in your sink. What we do need inside is a metre of floor to lay protection on in front of the appliance, so a kitchen bin or a set of drying racks moved out of the way before we arrive saves everybody a few minutes.

Ours is a gas cooker. Does it get pulled out?

Only as far as the bayonet hose allows, and never disconnected. A freestanding gas cooker connects by a flexible hose to a bayonet fitting behind it, and unplugging that is gas work rather than cleaning work. Where there is genuine slack we ease the cooker forward on a protected floor, clean the sides and the floor beneath, and slide it back on the same line. Where the hose is short or the run is taut we clean what can be reached and tell you plainly what we have not.

Can the hob and the extractor be done at the same visit?

Yes, and doing them together costs far less time than booking them apart, because most of an oven clean is waiting for products to work rather than scrubbing. While the cavity dwells and the racks soak, the burner caps and pan supports go into the same solution and the canopy and the metal mesh filter get degreased. If the hood over your hob recirculates rather than venting outside, we will tell you the cartridge to order, since that part is replaced rather than washed.

Do you cover the whole of Kimberley?

Yes, all of NG16 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does oven cleaning cost in Kimberley?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start oven cleaning in Kimberley?

Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. Kerbside parking on the terraced streets, with the town centre itself pinched at lunchtime, and we group Kimberley with Nuthall, Stapleford and Bilborough on the rota.
