Deep Cleaning for Gedling homes
An annual reset in stock that has had one bathroom and one kitchen replaced inside the original footprint. The time goes into what those refits closed in: extractor ducting, the gap beside the cooker, the ceiling above the hob.
Almost every house of this age here has had the same two rooms replaced at some point, and a deep clean is largely about what those refits closed in. A bathroom fitted inside the original footprint gains pipe boxing in a corner and a shower over the bath, and it usually loses some of the ventilation the room was built with. A kitchen refitted into the same space gains a run of units with a narrow filler at the end of it, beside the cooker, that nothing has ever been through. Neither reads as dirty to a weekly clean. Both need contact time, a torch and a thin tool, and both are why an annual reset in this stock runs longer than the floor area predicts.
Gedling sits in NG4, under Gedling Borough Council. The housing here is mostly interwar and postwar semis on the streets off Arnold Lane and Shelford Road, a small older core around the church, and newer estate housing built on the reclaimed colliery ground, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Gedling deep cleaning jobs
The bathroom extractor is the specific one. In these houses it is normally a fan set into the outside wall with a short duct and a plastic cowl on the brickwork, and after enough years the grille, the impeller and the cowl flap are all felted with lint. It still hums, so nobody suspects it. The test is whether the mirror clears within a few minutes of a shower. If it does not, that fan is moving almost no air, and the mould in the sealant and along the ceiling line is a ventilation fault that cleaning will simply keep having to undo.
How a Gedling deep cleaning job actually runs
A deep clean occupies the house for most of a day rather than an hour, so the arrangements matter more than they do for a maintenance visit. We need hot water, a couple of sockets that are not on the same tired extension lead, somewhere to fill and empty, and an agreement about where the household will be while it happens. Most people go out. If you are staying in, we work room by room with the doors shut behind us so there is always somewhere finished to sit. Water in this part of Nottingham is on the hard side, and that decides part of the method, because descaling wants contact time in the bathroom and the kitchen and that time has to be built into the order of the day rather than found at the end of it. Bookings cluster around moves, the run up to Christmas and the week after building work, and those are the weeks that fill first, so a date set a fortnight ahead gets you the slot you actually wanted.
Who books it here
A village core, two waves of estate housing and a new development on reclaimed colliery ground, all within a walk of each other. A three bedroom semi here can mean a house finished before the war or one finished in the last few years, and the two want different products and different hours.
We run Gedling on the same round as Carlton, Netherfield and Mapperley.
What we check on every Gedling job
Limescale in these houses is never where people scrub. The bowl of a toilet gets attention and the underside of the rim does not, and a hard supply builds a scale ledge up there that holds staining and smell no amount of bleach will shift, because bleach whitens it rather than removing it. Taps are the same. The visible chrome polishes up while the aerator screwed into the end of the spout fills with scale and grit until the flow splays sideways; it unscrews, soaks and goes back, and the tap works properly again. The third one is the shower riser, where the sliders and the bracket the head sits in collect scale from below, out of the eye line, which is why a descaled head still runs down the wall. The kettle belongs on the same list, because scale flaking off the element ends up in the cup long before anyone thinks to descale it.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Dishwasher filter and spray arms
- Everywhere else: High level dust: light fittings, door tops, picture rails, coving
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Hob, including underneath the burner caps
- Bathrooms: Limescale removed from taps, shower head, screen, tiles and grout
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Gedling property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What deep cleaning costs in Gedling
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

Typical one-off in Gedling. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
The mirror still fogs even when the bathroom is spotless. Why?
Because the room is not clearing the moisture, which is a different problem from being dirty. Usually the grille and the duct behind it are packed with lint, and a fan in that state shifts next to nothing. We clean the grille and the visible ducting as part of a deep clean and tell you what came out. If the fan has failed, that is an electrician rather than a cleaner, and we would rather say so.
Is a deep clean worth it in a kitchen that was only refitted a few years ago?
More than people expect, because a refit does not clean what it covers. The filler strip beside the cooker, the tops of the wall units, the plinth at floor level and the underside of the extractor canopy all start collecting from the day they go in, and none of them are in a weekly clean. A newer kitchen is quicker to do than a tired one, and it still has a first proper clean in it that nobody has ever given it.
Do we need to be out of the house while you do it?
No, but it is easier for everyone if you can be out for part of it. Rooms come back into use as they are finished, so staying in means shifting from room to room for a few hours. What genuinely helps is clearing surfaces and floors beforehand, since moving your belongings about is slow work and it eats the time we would rather spend on the parts of the house a weekly clean never touches.
Which rooms take the longest?
The kitchen and the bathroom, and it is not close. Both are full of things that need soaking rather than wiping: oven parts, hood filters, tap aerators, shower fittings and sealant lines all want contact time before anything is scrubbed, and that time cannot be hurried without either damaging a finish or leaving the job half done. Bedrooms and a lounge go quickly by comparison, which is why we start the soaking early and come back to it.
Do you cover the whole of Gedling?
Yes, all of NG4 and the surrounding streets, under Gedling Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Gedling?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Gedling?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Mostly straightforward, because the older semis have a drive or a verge to pull onto, and we group Gedling with Carlton, Netherfield and Mapperley on the rota.
