Deep Cleaning for Netherfield homes
An annual reset in a solid wall house, where the bathroom over the cold outrigger holds scale and mould at the same time. We take off what comes off and tell you honestly which marks are coming back through the plaster.
A deep clean here is mostly a bathroom and a kitchen problem, and both of them are in the coldest part of the house. The bathroom is usually over the back outrigger with a single skin wall on three sides, which means the room never really dries between showers. Scale builds on the screen and the tap bases at the same time as mould builds in the sealant and along the ceiling line, and the two want opposite products, so the order of work matters more than the effort does. Downstairs, the kitchen was fitted into a room that was built as a scullery, so the units sit against solid brick and the gap behind them has never been opened. The rest of the house is quick by comparison.
Netherfield sits in NG4, under Gedling Borough Council. The housing here is mostly railway terraces in long straight rows off Victoria Road, built for the Colwick yards, with postwar infill toward the flood plain and a high share of the stock privately let, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Netherfield deep cleaning jobs
Sealant is where these bathrooms are decided. If the black is on the surface of the silicone it lifts with a gel and contact time. If it is under the surface, the mould has grown into the sealant from behind and nothing removes it, because you are looking at it through a clear layer. That is a strip and reseal job, twenty minutes of cutting and a day of curing, and we would rather say so than scrub something for half an hour and hand you back a bathroom that looks the same. The ceiling above the shower usually needs the same treatment as a wall rather than a wipe.
How a Netherfield deep cleaning job actually runs
A deep clean on this housing runs to a full day, and the first problem is that there is nowhere for the contents of a room to go while it happens. No garage, no loft ladder in most of them, a yard that is open to the weather, and an under stairs cupboard already holding the meter, the coats and the vacuum. So we agree beforehand which rooms get cleared and where things sit, then work one room ahead of ourselves and put back as we go rather than emptying the house at the start and stacking it in the middle. Water and power decide the rest of the plan. Machines want hot water and a socket that is not carrying the fridge and the kettle as well, and in an older kitchen there may be one usable socket at worktop height. Light matters more than people think here: the back rooms face away from the sun, the yard wall is close, and in winter a bathroom over the outrigger is dim by the middle of the afternoon, so we bring lighting rather than work by guesswork.
Who books it here
Everything here sits low against the Trent flood plain, and the housing was put up quickly and cheaply for men working the railway yards. Solid brick walls with no cavity and a lot of it now rented, so damp, condensation and mould come up more often than ordinary dirt does.
We run Netherfield on the same round as Carlton, Colwick and Gedling.
What we check on every Netherfield job
The chimney breast is the item most often left off a deep clean brief and the one that repays adding. Most of these houses still have their flues, capped at the pot with a vent left low in the breast, and what travels down is not household dust. It is soot and mortar grit, dark and slightly greasy, and it lands on the hearth, the mantel and the top of the skirting either side of the breast. Take it with a damp cloth first and it smears into the paint, so it gets vacuumed off dry, then whatever is left is treated as a stain rather than as dirt. It also returns after a windy week, which is worth knowing before anyone decides the clean did not hold. Where a breast has been blocked up with no vent at all, the smell in the room tells you before your eyes do, and that is a builder's job rather than ours.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Oven interior, racks, side runners, door glass and grill pan
- Everywhere else: Skirting boards by hand throughout
- Bathrooms: Shower head soaked or bagged with descaler
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Fridge and freezer emptied, defrosted and washed including the seals
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Netherfield property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What deep cleaning costs in Netherfield
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£165 to £280
Typical one-off in Netherfield. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.

| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |

Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Will a deep clean stop the mould coming back?
It will reset it, and how long that lasts depends on the room rather than on us. In a bathroom over a cold outrigger with a window that gets opened and an extractor that works, several months. With neither of those, weeks. We will tell you which you have, and we would rather point you at an extractor that runs on properly than come back every eight weeks.
Can you clean behind the kitchen units?
We can clean the gap that is reachable once the plinths come off and the appliances come out, which is where most of it collects. Taking fitted units off a solid wall is joinery, not cleaning, and on a scullery kitchen with no cavity behind it the units are often the only thing holding a tired bit of plaster together. We clean up to the point where the next step needs a fitter.
Can we stay in the house while a deep clean is going on?
You can, and on a two up two down it needs a bit of choreography rather than good will. We work room by room, so there is always somewhere to sit, but the kitchen and the bathroom go out of use for a stretch each and the stairs will have a machine lead on them. If anyone in the house sleeps days after a night shift, tell us which room and we will take it first or last.
The gloss on the skirting and the doors looks yellow. Will a deep clean bring it back?
Partly, and it depends what the yellow is. A film of smoke, cooking grease or nicotine sits on top of the paint and comes off with a degreaser and patience, and the difference is obvious along the edge where we stop. Oil based gloss also yellows in itself as it ages, worst in rooms that get little daylight, and no product reverses that. We test a patch first so you can see which one you are looking at before committing to the room.
Do you cover the whole of Netherfield?
Yes, all of NG4 and the surrounding streets, under Gedling Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Netherfield?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Netherfield?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. On-street only across the terraced streets, with cars both sides and not much room to pass, and we group Netherfield with Carlton, Colwick and Gedling on the rota.
