Office & Commercial Cleaning for Gedling homes
Small premises on the shopping parades and in converted buildings, most with no cleaner's cupboard and one washroom shared with customers. Where the machine lives and where dirty water goes get settled before the first visit.
Commercial premises here are small and mostly serve the surrounding streets: a run of shops with flats over them, a couple of converted houses in professional use, and newer units put in to serve the estate. The specification is the easy part. What decides whether a contract works is where the equipment lives and where dirty water goes, because hardly any premises of this size has a cleaner's cupboard or a low level tap. Emptying a bucket into a customer washroom basin marks it within a few months, and keeping a machine in a stock room that gets rearranged weekly means it is never where it was left. Both get settled before the first visit and written into the schedule.
Gedling sits in NG4, under Gedling Borough Council. On the practical side: Mostly straightforward, because the older semis have a drive or a verge to pull onto. Roads on the newer estate are narrower than they look once residents have parked, so tell us which side your plot is on and whether there is a visitor bay.
What we run into on Gedling office & commercial cleaning jobs
A shop with a flat above it has a shared entrance and a shared stair, and neither belongs clearly to anyone. In practice that stair is swept by whoever minds most, which is generally nobody, and the grit sitting on it gets walked down into the unit every time the tenant above comes home. If the stair falls inside your demise it should be in the specification with a frequency next to it. If it does not, that is worth knowing too, because a clean shop floor at the bottom of a filthy stair looks like a cleaning failure when it is really a boundary question.
How a Gedling office & commercial cleaning job actually runs
Small premises here mostly want cleaning outside trading hours, and that turns on three practical things. First, keys and the alarm. Somebody has to hold both, the panel needs a code that is ours rather than yours, and the keyholding list has to be current with whoever monitors the system, otherwise an ordinary Tuesday evening triggers a call out. Second, lone working. A cleaner alone in a locked unit at night checks in and out with us, and where the premises sit up a shared stair or behind a yard we look at the lighting and the door approach before agreeing a time. Third, consumables and waste. Hand towels, soap and bin liners run down on their own schedule, so we count what is left each visit and tell you before a cupboard is bare, and trade waste has to leave on a commercial collection rather than in a household bin. Everyone working unaccompanied on your premises is DBS checked and you know in advance who is coming.
Who books it here
The local reference points are Gedling Country Park, All Hallows Church, Gedling House Woods and the Chase Farm estate, which is usually enough for us to find a property without a postcode lookup.
We run Gedling on the same round as Carlton, Netherfield and Mapperley.
What we check on every Gedling job
Chair castors tell you what a floor is really doing. Under every desk chair on carpet tiles there is a dulled crescent where the wheels track, and inside each castor a wound band of hair, thread and grit that stops the wheel turning and makes it skid instead. Once it skids it polishes the tile and grinds soil into it, so the wear is not the weight of the chair, it is the dirt the chair carries. Cutting that band out and cleaning the wheel takes about a minute per chair and it has never once appeared on a specification handed to us. The desk edge nearest the keyboard is the other one, where a dark bloom builds on light laminate from hands rather than dust and needs a detergent wipe, not a duster. Both are quick to put right, and both are what a visitor notices well before they notice the floor.
What the office & commercial cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Periodic, scheduled and priced up front: Entrance matting deep cleaned or replaced
- Weekly or fortnightly: Desk legs and chair bases
- Every visit: Desks and hard surfaces, subject to a clear desk policy
- Weekly or fortnightly: Microwave interiors
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full office & commercial cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What office & commercial cleaning costs in Gedling
Contract office cleaning, weekly cost on a standard specification out of hours. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£60 to £120
Typical per week in Gedling. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per week |
|---|---|
| Up to 10 desks, 2 to 3 visits | £60 to £120 |
| 10 to 25 desks, 3 to 5 visits | £120 to £280 |
| 25 to 50 desks, 5 visits | £280 to £520 |
| 50 to 100 desks, 5 visits | £520 to £950 |
| 100+ desks | £950 and up |
Washroom count moves a quote more than desk count does. Two extra cubicles change the hours more than twenty extra desks.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Office cleaning, per hour | £15 to £28 |
| Carpet deep clean | £1.50 to £3.50 per m² |
| Hard floor strip and reseal | £3 to £7 per m² |
| Washroom deep clean and descale | £150 to £400 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

We have nowhere to store cleaning equipment. Does that rule us out?
No, it only has to be decided rather than assumed. We can bring everything in and take it out again each visit, which suits a small unit and adds a few minutes at either end, or we can agree a locked corner and keep a machine and consumables on site. What does not work is a shared stock room, because equipment gets shifted and then hunted for, and the hunting comes out of your cleaning time rather than ours.
Can you work while we are trading?
Part of it, and that is often the sensible answer where there is no out of hours access. Touch points, glass, bins and the washroom can be done quietly with customers in. Machine work on a hard floor cannot, because a wet floor and a shop full of people do not go together and a scrubber dryer is loud. The usual arrangement is a short visit during trading and one agreed evening or early morning for the floors.
Who holds our keys and what happens if a cleaner leaves?
Keys are signed for by name and logged, and they are never marked with your address. If somebody moves on, their keys come back before their last shift and the alarm code is changed, which is a five minute job we would rather do than explain later. You are told when the person on your premises changes. If you use a code only entry, change it yourself on a schedule and let us know, rather than leaving one code standing for years.
Can you also cover the washroom consumables?
Yes, and it works best as a standing arrangement rather than an emergency. We check stock every visit and either restock from what you keep on site or bring supplies in and bill them separately from the cleaning. What we will not do is quietly let a dispenser run empty and leave you to find out from a customer. Tell us which brands or dispenser types you already have so refills actually fit them.
Do you cover the whole of Gedling?
Yes, all of NG4 and the surrounding streets, under Gedling Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does office & commercial cleaning cost in Gedling?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of washrooms, the visit frequency, the flooring type and whether we supply consumables. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start office & commercial cleaning in Gedling?
Allow four to six weeks if you are changing contractor, because TUPE, keys and site induction all take real time. Mostly straightforward, because the older semis have a drive or a verge to pull onto, and we group Gedling with Carlton, Netherfield and Mapperley on the rota.
