Why do our windows go green on one side of the house only?
Because that side never dries. Sitting low by the Trent means damp air lingers round the north and east elevations, and algae colonises the render, the frame rebates and the silicone long before it touches the sunny side. Scrubbing removes it, but it returns unless the overhanging growth is cut back and that elevation goes on a shorter rota than the rest of the house.
