Oven Cleaning for Cotgrave homes
The estate kitchens were built round a gap for a freestanding cooker, so the replacement is almost always a built under single at knee height with a separate hob dropped in above it. The whole job happens at floor level rather than at chest height.
The estate kitchens were built round a gap for a freestanding cooker, and that gap is 600mm wide, so when the kitchen was replaced the appliance that fitted the space was a built under single oven with a separate hob dropped into the worktop above it. That is the standard job here, and it means the whole visit happens at floor level: the door hinges down onto the covering, the racks come out at ankle height, and there is no chest high housing to work at. Ranges turn up only where the kitchen has been taken across the back of the house, and on those the second cavity and the griddle plate make it most of a day rather than an afternoon.
Cotgrave sits in NG12, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly 1960s estate housing built in one go for the colliery, a small old village core around the church, and newer estates put up on and beside the reclaimed pit land, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Cotgrave oven cleaning jobs
A built under oven vents its cooling air through a slot along the top edge of the door, and that air goes straight up into the underside of the worktop above. A hand's width of the worktop nose carries a matt brown film that stops abruptly where the airflow stops, and it is the one surface nobody has ever cleaned, because it faces downward and sits behind the handle. The plinth below gets the same treatment from the lower vent, and the floor covering directly in front holds a dulled crescent where the open door has rested. All three come off with a degreaser and none of them come off with a wipe.
How a Cotgrave oven cleaning job actually runs
Timing is the part worth agreeing in advance on this one. The appliance has to be stone cold, which in a household with one cooker means not using it the evening before or that morning, so a mid morning start suits the estate better than an afternoon one. Ventilation is easier in these kitchens than in most of the houses we work in, because the back door sits at the end of the room and opens straight onto the garden path, so the door and the window between them move air across the work rather than through the house. Parking is rarely the problem out here, but finding the door can be. Where a house fronts a footpath with the parking behind it, tell us which side you actually use, because we are carrying a tank of solution, a tray and a set of racks in one trip rather than three. The last thing is the floor, since everything on a built under job is laid out at ankle height. The run in front of the unit needs to be clear and any pet needs to be behind a door.
Who books it here
On the practical side: Parking is easy compared with the city: drives, garage blocks and rear courts. The awkward part is finding the door, because some of the estate houses front onto a footpath with the parking behind, so tell us which side you actually use.
We run Cotgrave on the same round as Edwalton, Keyworth and Gamston.
What we check on every Cotgrave job
The gap either side of a built under oven is where the housing tells on itself. A 600mm appliance goes into a 600mm opening, so there are a few millimetres of clearance down each side, and over the years fat running off the door edge has gone down into that gap and onto the bare chipboard edge of the cabinet. It swells there, which is why the side panel is often slightly proud and darker along its front edge with the melamine lifting away from it. That is not something a clean puts right and we would rather say so than scrub at it. What we can do is take the deposit off the appliance sides once it is drawn forward, clean the exposed edge, and dry the whole void properly, because water left standing in there is how a cabinet edge goes from marked to swollen.
What the oven cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- How the job is left: The housing the oven sits in, and the plinth below it
- How the job is left: Usable straight away, with no waiting period and no smell on first heat
- The oven itself: Fan cover and back plate removed where the model allows, and the housing behind it degreased
- The oven itself: Door seal cleaned around rather than soaked, because a saturated seal perishes
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What oven cleaning costs in Cotgrave
Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£45 to £80
Typical per appliance in Cotgrave. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per appliance |
|---|---|
| Single oven | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven, or oven and separate grill | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm | £80 to £130 |
| Aga or heat storage cooker | £100 to £200 |
| Hob, gas or ceramic | £10 to £30 |
| Extractor hood | £15 to £30 |
The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Microwave | £15 to £30 |
| Extra grill pan or set of racks | £5 to £10 |
| Heavy soiling, an oven left for years | £20 to £30 on top |
| Several appliances in one visit | Usually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
The oven is built in under the worktop. Does it have to come out?
Usually not, and where it does the answer is simple enough. A built under oven is held by two or four screws through the front frame into the cabinet sides, and most are on a plug in the cupboard alongside rather than wired straight in. A hardwired one stays where it is, because disconnecting it is an electrician's job. The cavity, the door and the fan housing are all reachable either way. Drawing it forward is about the appliance sides and the floor underneath it.
Our kitchen is the route to the back garden. Will the visit block it?
For part of it, yes. With a built under oven the door comes off its hinge pins or hangs open onto a protected floor, and the racks, runners and trays are laid out in front of the unit, so that end of the room is out of use for a while. Tell us at the booking if the back door is the only way out to the garden, or if a dog needs to get past, and we will work the far end first.
Can the hob be done at the same visit?
Yes, and it is priced as its own item rather than folded into the oven, which is worth knowing here because the hob and the oven are two separate appliances rather than one cooker. Say at the booking whether it is gas, ceramic or induction. Gas takes the longest of the three, since the caps, crowns and pan supports all come off to soak, and the tray they sit in is where the boil overs have been going.
The oven has never been done since we moved in. Is it too far gone?
Almost certainly not, but book it as a longer visit rather than hoping it absorbs into a short one. Past roughly two years the carbon layer is thick enough to need a second application and a second dwell, so the job takes longer rather than the result being worse. What we check before anything is applied is whether the side liners are the rough matte sort, because those are catalytic and nothing goes on them at all.
Do you cover the whole of Cotgrave?
Yes, all of NG12 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does oven cleaning cost in Cotgrave?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start oven cleaning in Cotgrave?
Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. Parking is easy compared with the city: drives, garage blocks and rear courts, and we group Cotgrave with Edwalton, Keyworth and Gamston on the rota.
