Mattress Cleaning for Ruddington homes
Bedrooms here hold the bed that could be got up the stairs, and it does not come down again. The mattress is cleaned on its edge in the room, against the bare wall it has already been rubbing.
Beds here are the beds that could be got up the stairs, and they do not come down again. A cottage staircase turns at the top inside the thickness of a wall, so the main bedroom holds a small double far more often than a king, and whatever is up there went up in pieces or was assembled in the room. That settles the method before we arrive: the mattress is cleaned where it stands, lifted off the base and stood on its edge. Almost all of this work is for owner occupiers rather than lets, and the trigger is usually something specific, a bed being judged before a move, an illness, or a room changing hands between family.
Ruddington sits in NG11, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. Older cottages with stone and quarry-tiled floors, low ceilings and small windows. The floor products matter here, and acidic cleaners stay in the van.
What we run into on Ruddington mattress cleaning jobs
The find that repeats in a village bedroom is along the head edge. There is rarely room for a headboard, so the mattress goes straight against the wall, and old plaster is rougher than it looks. The ticking greys and pills in a band the width of the bed, the piping wears through at the two top corners first, and the wall gives back a fine chalky dust that has worked into the seam. It cleans, and it stays grey, because that is abrasion rather than soil. We say which of the two you have before charging you for the attempt.
How a Ruddington mattress cleaning job actually runs
Everything for a mattress comes in through the front door and goes up, so the two things worth agreeing beforehand are where the van stands and what the bedroom floor is holding. In the older rows the door opens onto the footway with no hall to set kit down in, so the machine, the air mover and the lead go straight up and the ground floor rooms stay as they are. On the edge estates there is a drive and a hall, and it is a simpler visit. Morning slots are the ones to ask for. A bed cleaned at nine has the whole day and the heating to dry in, and in a two bedroom cottage there is nowhere else to sleep, which makes the timing part of the job rather than a preference. Two beds in one house works well here, because the kit only comes in once and the second bed adds far less than the first. If the room is up in a converted attic reached by a hatch stair rather than a proper flight, say so when you book, since the air mover is the awkward item rather than anything else we carry.
Who books it here
The housing here is mostly framework knitters' cottages around the village centre, interwar and modern housing on the edges, several period properties, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
We run Ruddington on the same round as West Bridgford, Clifton and Keyworth.
What we check on every Ruddington job
Divan drawers are the second thing we look at, and in a small bedroom one of them has usually never been opened. A four drawer base needs clear floor on both sides and a village bedroom rarely has it, so the side facing the wardrobe or the chimney breast stays shut for the life of the bed. Open it and there is a layer of fine dust and fibre across the base cloth, dry and undisturbed, sometimes with the retail label still on the runner. It vacuums out in a couple of minutes and it makes a difference to the room, because that is dust being pushed into the air every time somebody sits down on the bed. The other one is the platform top under the mattress, where what falls through the sides of the base settles into the seam at the head end.
What the mattress cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- The rest of the bed: The gap behind and under the bed, which nothing reaches once the frame is in place
- Stains and odour: Odour traced to its source, because a fragrance laid over a urine mark comes back in the first humid week
- The mattress itself: Air movement across the surface before we leave
- The mattress itself: Colourfast test in a hidden area, usually along the base seam
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full mattress cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Ruddington property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What mattress cleaning costs in Ruddington
Mattress cleaning, priced by bed size. A mattress added to a carpet booking costs less, because the call-out is already covered. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£40 to £70
Typical per mattress in Ruddington. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per mattress |
|---|---|
| Minimum call-out | £60 to £90 |
| Cot or child's mattress | £15 to £30 |
| Single | £25 to £45 |
| Double | £40 to £70 |
| King | £50 to £85 |
| Super king | £60 to £100 |
One mattress on its own is priced at the minimum call-out, not at the size row in the table, because the visit costs the same whether it cleans one bed or four. Two or three mattresses in a single booking is the point at which the per mattress rate starts to apply.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Divan base or headboard, each | £25 to £50 |
| Set stain treatment, per area | £10 to £30 |
| Deodorising treatment | £10 to £25 |
| Second and later mattresses, same visit | 20% to 30% less each |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Can the mattress go out on the landing while you work?
There is no landing worth the name in most of these houses, so no. It comes off the base, stands on its long edge against the nearest clear wall and stays in the room. What helps is clearing a metre down one side of the bed and taking whatever is stored on top of the wardrobe down beforehand. Getting a double round the turn at the head of the stairs risks the plaster on that turn, and it buys nothing.
How dry will it be by bedtime?
Dry enough if we come in the morning, which is why the slot matters more than anything else about the booking. An air mover runs across the surface while the base and the headboard are done, then the room wants the heating on and the door left open for the rest of the day. In a two bedroom cottage there is no spare bed to fall back on, so we would rather refuse a late afternoon booking than leave you standing.
The bed is against the chimney breast. Does that matter?
It changes what we check rather than what we charge. The wall of a breast that has a fire below it, or that had one, runs warmer and drier than the outside wall opposite, so the mattress face against it tends to be in better condition. It is the side against the cold outside wall that wants looking at, and pulling the bed a hand's width off that wall does more for it over a winter than any cleaning visit does.
It is a cottage let rather than our own bed. Anything different?
The record is the difference. On a let we photograph the mattress on both faces before and after, note the make and the size, and write down anything already there, because a mattress is an inventory item and an incoming tenant should not inherit the last one's marks. If a protector is going back on, it goes on dry rather than damp. Book the visit between tenancies instead of in the last week of one.
Do you cover the whole of Ruddington?
Yes, all of NG11 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does mattress cleaning cost in Ruddington?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how many mattresses go in one visit, the bed sizes, and whether anything needs treating rather than just extracting. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start mattress cleaning in Ruddington?
Within a week, and we would rather bring it alongside a carpet booking than make a separate journey for one bed. Village centre parking is limited around the green, and we group Ruddington with West Bridgford, Clifton and Keyworth on the rota.
