Domestic Cleaning for The Meadows homes
Compact redevelopment houses where the kit comes in on foot from the rear court and the kitchen is a galley with one worktop run. Fortnightly suits most households here, and the visit is shorter than the room count implies because the floor plan is efficient.
A regular clean here begins before anyone reaches the door, because the van stops in the parking court and the kit comes round the block on foot. Worth knowing when you compare the hours against a house of the same size elsewhere. Inside, the layouts work in your favour. A short hall, a straight flight with no half landing, and a galley kitchen with one worktop run and the hob at the end of it. A two bedroom house on the estate is comfortably a morning. The flats and maisonettes near Bridgeway are quicker again, although the shared stairwell up to your front door belongs to the block rather than to us. Fortnightly is where most households on this side of the river settle.
The Meadows sits in NG2, under Nottingham City Council. Regular domestic cleaning across the estate, a steady run of end of tenancy work because a large share of the stock is let, and window cleaning booked more often than the size of the houses would suggest, since ground floor glass sits at eye level on the walkways everybody uses to get home.
What we run into on The Meadows domestic cleaning jobs
Storage heaters survive in plenty of these houses and behave nothing like a radiator. Dust settles inside the casing across the summer and then bakes off in the first cold week, which is the burnt smell people ring about in October and assume is electrical. We vacuum the vents and the gap behind rather than opening anything up. The second recurring thing is the first stretch of floor inside the front door. Most of these frontages have neither a porch nor a side gate, so whatever is out on the walkway walks straight in and stops within a stride of the mat.
How a The Meadows domestic cleaning job actually runs
The Meadows is not one kind of house, and a regular clean adapts to which one you are in. Most of it is the redevelopment stock, where the front door opens onto a pedestrian walkway and the car sits in a court at the back, so households tend to hand us the rear door as the working entrance and keep the walkway side for callers. Those houses have a compact footprint and a ground floor laid on a concrete slab, which is why the downstairs feels cold underfoot and why so many of them have vinyl or laminate rather than carpet through the hall. Toward Queens Drive rows of Victorian terraces survive, and they are a different morning altogether: higher ceilings, deep skirtings, a longer hall and usually a bay that adds glass and ledges to the front room. When you are working out what a weekly or fortnightly visit should cover, the useful question is less how many bedrooms you have than which of those two houses you are in, because the hours fall in different places.
Who books it here
On the practical side: Park in the rear court and walk round, because the road the address belongs to and the door you knock on are often on opposite sides of the block. A photograph of the entrance saves us circling. Forest fixtures fill the streets nearest the river.
We run The Meadows on the same round as Nottingham City Centre, Wilford and West Bridgford.
What we check on every The Meadows job
The two floors behave differently in the redevelopment houses and want handling to match. Downstairs sits on a slab, so a hard floor washed with plenty of water stays wet far longer than people expect and the cool surface underneath keeps it that way. We use less solution and take it back off rather than leaving a film to dry into a haze. Upstairs on timber the same floor is dry in minutes. The second repeat is the back threshold. Because the court is where the car, the bins and the bicycles are, that door takes more traffic than the front ever does, and grit off the parking surface gathers in the runner of a sliding door or the drainage channel of a back step. Neither shows from standing height. Both take moments while they are on the list and turn into scraping once a whole season of them has packed down.

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full domestic cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

|---|---|
| Regular domestic, per hour | £17 to £25 |
| Ironing, per hour | £14 to £20 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
We are in a flat above the shops. Is that priced differently from a house?
It is priced on what sits behind your own front door, so a one bedroom flat is a one bedroom job whatever the building around it looks like. The shared stairs and landing belong to the freeholder or the managing agent and are not part of a domestic booking. If nobody is cleaning them and you want that quoted, it is a separate arrangement with whoever holds the block.
Should we move the sofa off the outside wall before you come?
If you can, and then leave it a hand's width clear afterwards. The coldest surface in any of these rooms is the outside wall, and furniture pressed flat to it stops the air moving and lets damp collect on the back of the frame and the paper behind. In a regular visit we work to what is reachable without hauling heavy items about. Anything that needs the sofa lifting out belongs in a deep clean.
We come and go through the parking court. Where is the sensible place to leave a key?
Not in the court itself. A key safe out there is visible to everyone who parks, and the walkway side is quieter but overlooked by nothing. Most of our regular households either leave a key with us, signed for and logged against a reference rather than an address, or arrange for a neighbour to hold one. Whichever you pick, tell us which door it opens, because the front and the back are not always the same lock on these houses.
Which door should the cleaner actually use?
Tell us at the booking and we will stick to it. Coming in from the court means the kit does not travel the length of the walkway, which is quicker, but it also means the back of the house is where the dirt lands first. Coming in from the walkway keeps that traffic off the kitchen. Neither is wrong. What matters is that it stays the same every visit, so the mat and the protection go down in the same place each time.
Do you cover the whole of The Meadows?
Yes, all of NG2 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does domestic cleaning cost in The Meadows?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the bathroom count more than the bedroom count, how often we come, and whether there are pets. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start domestic cleaning in The Meadows?
Usually within a week for a regular rota, and we will tell you the day rather than a window. Park in the rear court and walk round, because the road the address belongs to and the door you knock on are often on opposite sides of the block, and we group The Meadows with Nottingham City Centre, Wilford and West Bridgford on the rota.
