Oven Cleaning for Sandiacre homes
Narrow estate kitchens where a freestanding cooker is slid into a gap between units, so the sides of the appliance and the panels either side are part of the job. Recirculating hoods are common, and their charcoal cartridges are bought rather than cleaned.
Two kitchen layouts cover most of the town and each one decides how the visit runs. The estate houses have a narrow kitchen with units down one wall and a door at either end, and the cooker in them is usually a freestanding sixty centimetre model slid into a gap rather than a built in oven at eye level. That makes the sides of the appliance part of the job, and it has to come forward to be finished. The larger interwar houses that have had the back of the ground floor opened up are where the ranges are, ninety centimetres or more, with two cavities, a separate grill and enough removable parts to cover a kitchen floor. Which of those you have decides the length of the booking, so say when you ring.
Sandiacre sits in NG10, under Erewash Borough Council. The housing here is mostly older houses on the streets climbing to the church, larger interwar and postwar estates spread across the flat ground below them, and apartments in a converted lace mill beside the water, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Sandiacre oven cleaning jobs
The gap beside a freestanding cooker is where the real find is. A spill runs off the edge of the hob, down the painted side panel of the cooker and onto the end panel of the unit next to it, and because nobody can see into a gap that narrow it sets in layers rather than being wiped. By the time the appliance is pulled forward there is a hard brown ridge down both faces and a pool of the same on the floor under the plinth. It lifts with a degreaser and dwell time rather than force, and the same pull out is the only chance anyone gets to see the flex or the bayonet fitting behind it.
How a Sandiacre oven cleaning job actually runs
An oven clean takes the kitchen out of use for the whole of the visit, and that matters more in a narrow galley than it does in a large room, because there is no way to work round somebody making a drink. Agree at the start that the kitchen is ours and the job finishes sooner than it otherwise would. Ventilation is the next thing. Most of these kitchens have a door straight out to the back garden, and having that door genuinely openable, which means the key in it and nothing stacked against it, is worth more than any window in the room. Where a back gate opens onto a shared access, say so, because it decides where the van stands and how far the removable parts are carried to it. December is the pinch point of the year. Everybody looks properly inside the door in the same fortnight, so a clean wanted before Christmas wants booking two or three weeks ahead rather than in the week itself. A cat or a dog that lives in the kitchen needs shutting elsewhere while the products are working, and the floor stays covered until the rinsing is finished.
Who books it here
On the practical side: Hill streets are narrow and parked solid by early evening, so those visits are booked for the middle of the day. The estates below mostly have a drive. Mill apartments have allocated bays and a communal door, with the entry code agreed beforehand.
We run Sandiacre on the same round as Stapleford, Long Eaton and Toton.
What we check on every Sandiacre job
The extractor above these hobs is the second find and a completely different problem from the oven. A kitchen sitting in the middle of a house often has no external wall behind the hob to duct through, so what was fitted is a recirculating hood: it pulls air through a metal mesh, then through a charcoal cartridge, and blows it back into the room through the slots along the top. The mesh is washable and almost never washed. The charcoal is not washable at all, and a cartridge left in place for years stops adsorbing anything and becomes a restriction instead, which is why the fan can sound like it is working while the room still smells of last night. We take the mesh out and degrease it in solution, and we tell you what is sitting behind it, because a charcoal cartridge is a part you buy rather than something anybody can clean.
What the oven cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- How the job is left: Usable straight away, with no waiting period and no smell on first heat
- The oven itself: Rinsed repeatedly, so nothing smokes the first time you use it
- How the job is left: Floor and worktop protected before anything is opened or applied
- The oven itself: Fan cover and back plate removed where the model allows, and the housing behind it degreased
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full oven cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Sandiacre property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 14.
What oven cleaning costs in Sandiacre
Oven cleaning is priced per appliance rather than by the hour. Published Nottingham lists sit in the lower half of every range here. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£45 to £80
Typical per appliance in Sandiacre. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per appliance |
|---|---|
| Single oven | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven, or oven and separate grill | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker, 90cm to 110cm | £80 to £130 |
| Aga or heat storage cooker | £100 to £200 |
| Hob, gas or ceramic | £10 to £30 |
| Extractor hood | £15 to £30 |
The single oven price is rarely the whole quote. An oven, the hob and the extractor hood together come to roughly £70 to £140, because the second and third items add cleaning time but not another journey. Booking them separately across three visits costs noticeably more than booking them together.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Microwave | £15 to £30 |
| Extra grill pan or set of racks | £5 to £10 |
| Heavy soiling, an oven left for years | £20 to £30 on top |
| Several appliances in one visit | Usually £10 to £20 off, or the smallest item included |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Our cooker is freestanding rather than built in. Does it have to be pulled out?
Where it is safe to move it, yes, and it is the part of the visit people notice most. The sides of the appliance, the end panels either side and the floor underneath all carry spill that has been building since it was installed. An electric cooker on a plug or a gas one on a bayonet fitting slides forward without being disconnected. If it is hardwired, or the flooring has been laid against it, it stays put and we clean what can be reached.
There is no spare worktop in our kitchen. Where do the racks go?
Out of the kitchen entirely, into heated solution in the van, which is where they were going anyway. Racks, runners, trays and the grill pan all soak somewhere other than your house, so a worktop you have not got is not a problem. What we do need is the floor in front of the oven kept clear for a protective sheet. In a kitchen with a door at both ends it also helps to agree which one stays the through route.
The hood roars but the kitchen still fills with steam. Is the motor failing?
Probably not. On a recirculating hood the air has to pass a metal grease filter and then a charcoal cartridge, and both get steadily more restrictive with age while the motor carries on turning at the same speed. A saturated mesh and a spent cartridge together leave you with plenty of noise and very little airflow. Wash the mesh, replace the charcoal at the interval in the manual, and if the room still fills after that, then it is worth looking at the fan.
Can the oven be done during a tenancy clean rather than as its own visit?
It can, and for an appliance that has been kept up to date that is the sensible way round. What does not work is a neglected oven absorbed into a whole property clean, because the door has to come apart and the removable parts need real soaking time, and that time comes straight out of the rest of the house. Where the oven is the item most likely to end up photographed, book it separately a day or two before the check out appointment.
Do you cover the whole of Sandiacre?
Yes, all of NG10 and the surrounding streets, under Erewash Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does oven cleaning cost in Sandiacre?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of appliances rather than the hours, whether it is a single, double or range, and how long it has been since the last one. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start oven cleaning in Sandiacre?
Usually within a few days, because it is a one visit job that does not need a rota slot building around it. Hill streets are narrow and parked solid by early evening, so those visits are booked for the middle of the day, and we group Sandiacre with Stapleford, Long Eaton and Toton on the rota.
