Office & Commercial Cleaning for Trowell homes
Converted farm buildings let as small units, a room hired by the hour, and home offices wanting a commercial standard. None of it sits on a surfaced business park, so the entrance and the first stretch of floor take most of the specification.
What passes for commercial premises here is a converted farm building let as a couple of small units, a room hired by the hour, and a number of home offices that want a commercial standard rather than a domestic visit. The common factor is the ground outside. None of these sit on a surfaced business park; the approach is a yard, a track or a gravel apron, and vehicles turn on it. So the entrance takes far more than the floor area suggests and the specification has to be weighted toward it: matting that is long enough to actually work, a machine pass on the first stretch of hard floor at a shorter interval than the rest, and an agreed answer for what happens when the yard is churned up in February.
Trowell sits in NG9, under Broxtowe Borough Council. On the practical side: Off street space at nearly every house, so parking is rarely the problem. The main road is: it carries through traffic between Nottingham and Ilkeston with nowhere sensible to stand a van, so tell us if your only frontage is on it.
What we run into on Trowell office & commercial cleaning jobs
Converted farm buildings have a floor problem that no amount of cleaning solves. The slab is usually the original, power floated and sealed at some point and now worn through in the traffic lines, and where the seal has gone the surface itself dusts. Mop it and it is grey again within a day, which reads as poor cleaning and is nothing of the kind. We identify it early, take it out of the scope in writing, and switch to a dust control mop and a vacuum rather than repeatedly wetting a slab that is breaking down. Resealing is a flooring contractor's job and it is the only fix.
How a Trowell office & commercial cleaning job actually runs
Most of this work happens when nobody is there, and out here that raises questions a town centre unit never has to ask. The approach to a small unit off the main road is often unlit, there is no passing footfall after dark, and a cleaner working alone needs a phone that gets a signal and somebody expecting them to check in. So we agree the arrangement in writing: who holds keys, who is named on the alarm response, which door is used, and what happens if the code has been changed and nobody said. Access windows matter too, because a village unit shares its yard with other tenants and a delivery blocking it at eight in the morning stops a visit dead. The other thing to settle early is waste. A business cannot put its rubbish out with the household collections, so either the landlord has a trade agreement that covers your unit or you need your own, and we need to know which before we start filling bags with nowhere to put them.
Who books it here
The local reference points are St Helen's Church, the M1 services and the old Nottingham Canal nature reserve, which is usually enough for us to find a property without a postcode lookup.
We run Trowell on the same round as Stapleford, Kimberley and Nuthall.
What we check on every Trowell job
Desk chairs do more damage to a floor here than feet do. Grit walked in from a yard collects under a desk, the castors pick it up, and within a year there is a dull arc scored into the carpet tile or the vinyl exactly where the chair travels, lighter in colour than everything around it because the surface has been abraded rather than dirtied. Cleaning does not bring that back, so the point is to catch it earlier. We pull the castors off when they start to drag, cut out the hair and fibre wound around the axles and pick the embedded grit out, and we vacuum under the desk properly rather than running the machine around the outside of it. On tiles, swapping the worn ones into a low traffic corner buys years. On vinyl the same wear reads as a polished band rather than a dull one, which is the same abrasion catching the light from the other direction.
What the office & commercial cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Every visit: Waste and recycling to the collection point
- Weekly or fortnightly: Internal glass and partitions
- Weekly or fortnightly: Microwave interiors
- Periodic, scheduled and priced up front: Carpet deep cleaning
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full office & commercial cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What office & commercial cleaning costs in Trowell
Contract office cleaning, weekly cost on a standard specification out of hours. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
£60 to £120
Typical per week in Trowell. A written fixed price for your property takes about a minute: ask for one.
| Property | Typical per week |
|---|---|
| Up to 10 desks, 2 to 3 visits | £60 to £120 |
| 10 to 25 desks, 3 to 5 visits | £120 to £280 |
| 25 to 50 desks, 5 visits | £280 to £520 |
| 50 to 100 desks, 5 visits | £520 to £950 |
| 100+ desks | £950 and up |
Washroom count moves a quote more than desk count does. Two extra cubicles change the hours more than twenty extra desks.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Office cleaning, per hour | £15 to £28 |
| Carpet deep clean | £1.50 to £3.50 per m² |
| Hard floor strip and reseal | £3 to £7 per m² |
| Washroom deep clean and descale | £150 to £400 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Our unit is off a farm yard. Can you keep the entrance clean?
Not permanently, and anybody who promises to is guessing. What works is a system rather than mopping: a scraper mat outside the door, a long absorbent mat inside it, both of which we lift and clean every visit because a saturated mat is worse than none, and then a machine pass on the first few metres. Between October and March that entrance wants doing more often than the rest of the unit, and it is better to write that in than to argue about it.
I work from home. Should the office be a domestic job or a commercial one?
Commercially, if that is what you want, and it changes three things. The specification names surfaces rather than rooms, so the desk, the chair base, the keyboard and the phone are listed and the bookshelf is not. The visit is scheduled around your calls rather than the household. And we do not move paperwork: anything on a desk is dusted around unless it has been cleared, which protects you and removes any argument about what was where.
Who holds the keys and who is responsible for locking up?
That gets written down before the first visit rather than assumed. We agree which door is used, who on our side holds a key, and who is named as the alarm contact if it activates out of hours. Keys are held without the address attached to them and returned when the arrangement ends. If your landlord controls access to the yard or the outer door, we need their contact as well, because a locked gate at seven in the evening is not something we can resolve from the doorstep.
Can our office rubbish go out with the bins at the property?
Only if the property has a trade waste agreement that covers it. Business waste is not collected on the household rounds, and a small unit sharing a yard often relies on the landlord's contract, which may or may not include your tenancy. We will bag and consolidate everything and put it where you tell us, but somebody has to be paying for it to leave the site. It is worth checking your lease before the first visit rather than after a missed collection.
Do you cover the whole of Trowell?
Yes, all of NG9 and the surrounding streets, under Broxtowe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does office & commercial cleaning cost in Trowell?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is the number of washrooms, the visit frequency, the flooring type and whether we supply consumables. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start office & commercial cleaning in Trowell?
Allow four to six weeks if you are changing contractor, because TUPE, keys and site induction all take real time. Off street space at nearly every house, so parking is rarely the problem, and we group Trowell with Stapleford, Kimberley and Nuthall on the rota.
