Deep Cleaning for Nottingham City Centre homes
Apartments let furnished and lived in hard, where the extractor filter and the shower enclosure carry most of the work. Sealed buildings with mechanical ventilation smell stale long before the surfaces look dirty.
Deep cleans in NG1 split into two quite different jobs. In a Lace Market conversion the dust problem is structural: exposed brick, raw mortar joints and sandblasted timber beams shed continuously and cannot be washed, so they are vacuumed with a soft brush head and left dry, and everything below them is done afterwards rather than before. In a new build the surfaces are easy and the air is the problem. Sealed windows, mechanical ventilation and a shower room with no opening light mean the flat can smell stale while every worktop is spotless. The filters in the extract unit and the bathroom fan are usually the actual fix, so they are the first thing we look at rather than the last.
Nottingham City Centre sits in NG1, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly Lace Market warehouse conversions, new-build apartment blocks and offices above the retail streets, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Nottingham City Centre deep cleaning jobs
The ventilation unit is normally in the utility cupboard alongside the washing machine, behind a plastic cover most residents have never taken off. Pull the filter out and it is often a solid grey mat rather than a filter. Cleaning or replacing it costs very little and changes how the flat smells more than another hour of surface work would. We will not touch the electrics or open the unit itself, but we will show you the filter, tell you the size and clean the grilles it feeds.
How a Nottingham City Centre deep cleaning job actually runs
A deep clean brings far more equipment than a maintenance visit does, and a managed building gives you one route in. So it arrives as a single wheeled load rather than repeated trips back to a vehicle, and the vehicle goes into a car park for the day instead of sitting in a bay it would outstay by hours. The order of work follows the section of the flat rather than a room list. Where a conversion has a sleeping mezzanine open to the living space, that level is stripped and vacuumed first, because anything disturbed up there lands on the sofa below, and the same holds for surface run conduit, sprinkler pipework and steelwork above head height. Only then do the kitchen and the shower rooms start. Most of these bookings sit between one furnished let and the next, or ahead of an owner putting a flat on the market, which tends to put them mid week when the building is quiet and the lifts are free. A studio with one shower room can be a morning. Two bathrooms and a mezzanine is a full day.
Who books it here
Apartments and short lets, plus a lot of small offices. Access is the constraint rather than the cleaning: loading bays, concierge hours and lift bookings all need sorting before the visit, not during it.
We run Nottingham City Centre on the same round as The Park Estate, Sneinton and Hyson Green.
What we check on every Nottingham City Centre job
Items particular to this stock: the removable grate and hair trap in a wet room linear drain; the brackets and the wall face behind a heated towel rail, the one radiator nobody ever moves anything to reach; the gap above kitchen units in a conversion where the run stops short of a high ceiling and years of greasy dust sit on the top rail; and the kickboard in front of an integrated dishwasher, which lifts out and hides spillage behind it. Where a bathroom sits away from the main soil stack the WC is often a macerator unit, so the casing and its rubber cuff get wiped rather than flooded. We check the sealant lines at the bath, the shower tray and the worktop join, and separate mould growing on the silicone from mould growing underneath it, which cleaning will not reach.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Bathrooms: Grout scrubbed and mouldy sealant identified
- Bathrooms: Extractor vent, cabinet interiors, mirrors and chrome
- Everywhere else: Skirting boards by hand throughout
- Everywhere else: Window interiors, sills, frames and the tracks they run in
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
What deep cleaning costs in Nottingham City Centre
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Studio | £110 to £180 |
| 1 bedroom | £135 to £220 |
| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |
| 4 bedrooms | £300 to £460 |
Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

My flat is clean but it smells stale. What is that?
Almost always ventilation rather than cleaning. Sealed city centre flats depend on mechanical extract, and once the filter clogs the air stops moving, so cooking and shower moisture stay in the fabric of the place. We check filters and grilles as part of a deep clean and tell you what we find. Trickle vents painted shut or taped over are the other usual culprit.
Can you clean the exposed brick wall?
Vacuum it, yes, with a soft brush attachment worked top to bottom. Wash it, no. Old brick and lime mortar absorb water, and a wet wall in a heated flat pushes salts to the surface and leaves a white bloom that looks considerably worse than the dust did. If the joints are actively shedding grit, that is a repointing question for the building rather than a cleaning one.
The bedroom is a mezzanine open to the living room. Does that change anything?
It changes the order of work rather than the scope. Everything on that upper level is done first, including the balustrade, the underside of the treads and the floor up there, before anything below is touched, because dust dropped from a mezzanine lands straight on the sofa and the rug. It also means the high level work is genuinely high, so a platform step comes with us rather than anybody reaching out from the stairs.
The toilet is a macerator unit. What does that rule out?
Anything that swells, sets or corrodes. No wipes, no thick bleach standing in the pan for hours, no caustic drain product, and nothing tipped down it that a cleaner elsewhere might use a WC to get rid of. We descale the pan and the rim with a suitable product and short contact time, clean the casing and the pipe run behind it, and tell you if the unit is running on longer than it should, which is a plumber's job rather than a cleaning one.
Do you cover the whole of Nottingham City Centre?
Yes, all of NG1 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Nottingham City Centre?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Nottingham City Centre?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. The constraint, rather than the cleaning, and we group Nottingham City Centre with The Park Estate, Sneinton and Hyson Green on the rota.
