The new tiles have a cloudy film on them. What is that?

Slowly, and expect some loss on limewash or soft lime plaster, because the tape is often stronger than the surface it is stuck to. Warming it gently and pulling it back on itself at a shallow angle rather than straight outwards gives it the best chance. Where we put barriers up ourselves we fix to the frame or the floor and weight the sheet, precisely because an old wall does not give the tape back without taking something with it.
