Deep Cleaning for Keyworth homes

Booked in spring and before Christmas, on 1960s and 1970s houses where the annual jobs are genuinely annual. A full whole-house reset rather than anything specialist.

Deep cleans here cluster into two short seasons, spring and the weeks before Christmas, and almost all of them are booked for a day when the house is free. That is genuinely useful for this particular job in a way it is not for others. A deep clean is largely waiting: oven cleaner working, filters soaking, descaler wrapped round taps. With a whole empty house we can start every one of those first thing and come back to them, rather than working around a home office call at eleven. The estate kitchens are usually a 1970s footprint refitted at least once, so the units are far newer than the gaps behind them, and the older cottages in the village core want a different product list altogether.

Keyworth sits in NG12, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. The housing here is mostly a village core with older cottages, surrounded by 1960s and 1970s estates and more recent development, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.

What we run into on Keyworth deep cleaning jobs

Two things repeat on the estates. The airing cupboard still holds a vented hot water cylinder with slatted shelves, and the slats have decades of lint and dropped washing powder wedged in the gaps that nobody ever lifts out. The other is the boxed bath panel. In houses of that age it tends to be screwed rather than clipped, and the floor behind it has never been touched. We ask before removing one, because a panel that has been painted in place does not always go back the way it came off.

How a Keyworth deep cleaning job actually runs

The two booking seasons want different days from us. A spring deep clean follows a whole heating season, so the work concentrates on what the winter produced: condensation staining at the top of colder bedroom walls, salt and grit ground through the hall, radiators that have been convecting dust up the wall behind them since October, and window reveals that have been wet most mornings. The pre-Christmas booking is the opposite and is really about rooms other people are about to see, so the dining room, the spare bedroom, the downstairs cloakroom and the glass in a display cabinet move to the front of the running order while the utility drops to the back. Either way it runs as one long day with the house to ourselves, two cleaners working in separate rooms rather than the same one. We need the heating on at a background setting so bathrooms and hard floors dry between passes, and we need to know beforehand which rooms you would sacrifice if the daylight runs out before the list does, because in December it will.

Who books it here

Commuter village, so most visits happen with nobody home. A key safe is the usual arrangement and by far the least trouble for everyone.

We run Keyworth on the same round as Ruddington, West Bridgford and Clifton.

What we check on every Keyworth job

The items on this stock that repay a proper look: textured ceiling and coving finishes, which on houses of this age can contain asbestos and are therefore dusted dry with a soft head rather than scraped, abraded or wet scrubbed; the serving hatch between kitchen and dining room, its runners and the ledge inside it; sliding wardrobe doors, which sit on a bottom track that fills with fluff and then jumps off; the bathroom pull switch and the cord itself, which is the dirtiest thing in most houses and the one nobody has ever cleaned; the boxing around pipework in the corner and the vinyl behind the pan; the tumble dryer vent hose and the flap on the outside wall it pushes into. In the village cottages the list changes rather than lengthens, because quarry tile and stone want a neutral product rather than anything acidic, and old lime plaster does not take a wet cloth at all.

What the deep cleaning covers

A sample of what is included

  • Bathrooms: Toilet including hinges, base and behind the pan
  • Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Inside, on top of and underneath all cupboards
  • Everywhere else: Skirting boards by hand throughout
  • Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Dishwasher filter and spray arms

That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.

What deep cleaning costs in Keyworth

A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.

PropertyTypical one-off
Studio£110 to £180
1 bedroom£135 to £220
2 bedrooms£165 to £280
3 bedrooms£220 to £350
4 bedrooms£300 to £460

Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.

Priced separately

ExtraTypical cost
Single oven deep clean£45 to £80
Double oven£70 to £110
Range cooker£80 to £130

These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.

Do you need us there for a deep clean?

Not for the whole day, but fifteen minutes at the start is worth having if you can manage it. Pointing at the two things that have annoyed you for a year changes where the hours go. If that is impossible, a list left on the worktop does the same job, so long as it is ranked rather than alphabetical.

How long will you have the house?

For a three bedroom estate house, most of a working day, and longer where the oven has been left a year or more. We would rather book one long day while you are out than split it across two, because the products need dwell time and stopping halfway means starting several of them again.

Our ceilings are textured. Can they be cleaned at all?

Dry dusted, yes. Wet cleaned or abraded, no. Textured coatings on houses built or decorated before the mid 1980s can contain asbestos fibres, and the risk comes from disturbing the surface rather than from having it. So a soft head on a pole, a gentle pass, and cobwebs and dust off. If a section is already flaking or has been damaged we will point it out and leave it entirely alone rather than tidy the edges.

We will be out all day. What needs leaving open or turned on for us?

Heating on a background setting, the outside tap accessible and not turned off at the internal isolator, a working socket in the hall, and the loft hatch left alone unless you have asked for it. Clear worktops, windowsills and the floor under beds before the day rather than on it. If you want the garage or a conservatory included, say so at booking, since neither is inside a standard deep clean and both change the shape of the day.

Do you cover the whole of Keyworth?

Yes, all of NG12 and the surrounding streets, under Rushcliffe Borough Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.

How much does deep cleaning cost in Keyworth?

The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.

How soon can you start deep cleaning in Keyworth?

Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Drives on most properties, and we group Keyworth with Ruddington, West Bridgford and Clifton on the rota.
