Deep Cleaning for Clifton homes
Estate semis getting an annual reset, usually kitchen-led. Consistent layouts mean we know roughly where the time goes before we arrive, which makes the quote reliable.
Because the estate is consistent, a deep clean here is predictable in a way it is not elsewhere, and the time lands in the same two rooms every time. The bathrooms are usually still the original footprint: a bath against one wall, boxed in pipework, a tiled splashback with grout that has been painted over at some point, and a panel that has not been off since it was fitted. The kitchens follow the same pattern, an original layout with later units. That means the annual jobs are the same annual jobs street to street, and the quote is honest from the description because there are very few surprises hiding in the plan.
Clifton sits in NG11, under Nottingham City Council. The housing here is mostly one of the largest postwar estates in the country, mostly semis and short terraces, plus student housing near the NTU campus, and that is what shapes this job more than the floor area does.
What we run into on Clifton deep cleaning jobs
The bath panel is the item worth deciding about before the day. On these bathrooms it is either clipped, in which case it comes off in a minute, or it has been siliconed and screwed to the floor by somebody who never intended it to come off again. Behind a clipped one there is usually standing dust, an old bottle and the sort of thing that explains a smell nobody could locate. If yours is sealed we leave it sealed, because breaking a seal to clean behind it creates a repair job you did not ask for.
How a Clifton deep cleaning job actually runs
A full reset on a three bedroom semi is a long single day with two of us, and it gets planned backwards from the kitchen, because the oven has to go on first and come back last. Cupboard interiors are emptied out onto a covered surface, so we need one clear room to work into, and the route between the front and back doors has to stay walkable while that happens. Ceilings on a lot of these houses are textured, and texture is the thing people most often ask about and most often want wetted. It cannot be scrubbed. It is dusted dry with a soft head on a pole, because any wet contact softens the coating and lifts it off along with the dirt. The cupboard under the stairs is the other fixed feature of the plan: coats, the meter, a vacuum and a decade of things put down rather than away. Emptying it is not part of the job unless we agree it beforehand, and it is worth agreeing, since it is the one space in the house nobody has properly looked at.
Who books it here
Consistent estate housing with a student pocket attached, so a steady regular round and a sharp end of tenancy peak in summer.
We run Clifton on the same round as Ruddington, West Bridgford and Chilwell.
What we check on every Clifton job
What separates a deep clean from a long regular one here is mostly the things that unclip or unscrew. The cooker hood filter comes out to be degreased or replaced rather than wiped where it sits. The bathroom extractor cover comes off the ceiling so the housing behind it can be vacuumed, and on these houses that cover is usually held by two screws under a pair of plastic caps. Fridge door seals are pulled back fold by fold and washed, because that is where mould starts and where a wipe never reaches. Radiator fins are brushed from above and vacuumed from below. Kitchen drawers come right out so the carcass floor underneath can be done. The loft hatch surround and the architrave over the bedroom doors carry the heaviest dust in the building and are reached from a step rather than from a chair, which is how people fall.
What the deep cleaning covers
A sample of what is included
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Inside, on top of and underneath all cupboards
- Everywhere else: High level dust: light fittings, door tops, picture rails, coving
- Kitchen, which is about 40% of the time: Fridge and freezer emptied, defrosted and washed including the seals
- Everywhere else: Skirting boards by hand throughout
That is a sample rather than the whole list. The full deep cleaning page sets out every section of the scope, what is deliberately excluded and why, how long it takes on each property size, and what tends to go wrong.
The cleaner who comes to your Clifton property is directly employed and vetted by us rather than subcontracted, and the questions that come up before a first booking are answered on the FAQ page. If you are not certain this is the right service, the services hub compares all 8.
What deep cleaning costs in Clifton
A one-off deep clean, priced as a job rather than by the hour. Our own cost research puts the Midlands at around the UK average to 10% below it, so Nottingham sits in the lower half of every range on this page.
| Property | Typical one-off |
|---|---|
| Studio | £110 to £180 |
| 1 bedroom | £135 to £220 |
| 2 bedrooms | £165 to £280 |
| 3 bedrooms | £220 to £350 |
| 4 bedrooms | £300 to £460 |
Our cost research puts a one-off deep clean of a two to three bedroom home at £165 to £350, which is the anchor the rest of this table is built around.
Priced separately
| Extra | Typical cost |
|---|---|
| Single oven deep clean | £45 to £80 |
| Double oven | £70 to £110 |
| Range cooker | £80 to £130 |
These are typical Nottingham market ranges, not our price list. We quote a fixed price in writing for your property before anything starts, because a number produced from a bedroom count alone has priced an average property rather than yours. The figures above come from our own UK cost research, set out in full in this guide.
Will you take the bath panel off?
If it is clipped or simply screwed, yes, and it is worth doing since the space behind it is often the source of a smell in these bathrooms. If it has been siliconed to the floor and tiled up to, we leave it alone. Cutting a seal to clean behind a panel turns a cleaning visit into a small repair, and that is your decision rather than ours.
The bathroom tiles look stained rather than dirty. Can that be cleaned?
It depends what has happened to the grout. Grey grout that is soiled scrubs back with a proper grout tool and time. Grout that has been painted with a whitener, which is common on the original bathrooms here, goes patchy when cleaned because you are removing coating rather than dirt. We will test a small area first and tell you which of the two you have.
Can our textured ceilings be cleaned?
Dry, yes. Wet, no. The coating on a textured ceiling softens with water, so a sponge takes the surface off with the dirt and leaves a pale smeared patch that cannot be put back. We dust it with a soft head on a pole, working in one direction so nothing is dragged twice, and we deal with cobwebs in the corners the same way. Anything that has actually stained the coating, such as smoke above a fire, is a decorating job.
Is the cupboard under the stairs included?
Not automatically, and it should be. Say so when you book and we will allow the time to empty it, vacuum the sloping ceiling and the floor, wipe down the meter box and the shelving, then put back only what you want back. It is the one cupboard on this plan that ends up holding everything, so it needs a decision from you rather than a guess from us about what counts as rubbish.
Do you cover the whole of Clifton?
Yes, all of NG11 and the surrounding streets, under Nottingham City Council. We are based in New Basford, NG7, and there is no travel charge to any part of our area.
How much does deep cleaning cost in Clifton?
The same as anywhere else on our patch, because we do not price by postcode. What moves the number for this service is how long it has been since the last one, the state of the oven, and how many bathrooms need descaling. Tell us that and you get a fixed price in writing rather than a range.
How soon can you start deep cleaning in Clifton?
Within a week or two normally, longer in March and April and through November when everyone books at once. Good throughout, with wide roads and generally available parking, and we group Clifton with Ruddington, West Bridgford and Chilwell on the rota.
